Pristiq liver damage

Common Questions and Answers about Pristiq liver damage

pristiq

Avatar m tn Check that the 'men's formula' does not have iron. If there is any liver damage, your liver will find it hard to process iron which accumulates and can cause more damage than good. Well done on your drink free years; it's great that you've looked into diet and the hygiene products (yep - use bleach, but use it with gloves on :-). Good luck.
Avatar f tn Hi. I have bipolar type 2 with panic disorder. Recently I had to go to the hospital because my liver enzymes were extremely elevated to the point where I almost had to have a transplant. When I went to the hospital the doctors immediately took me off all medications which were klonopin 2mg twice a day, geodon 80mg at bedtime, and pristiq 100mg in the morning.
Avatar n tn I have been on Pristiq 100mg for 3 months, Wellbutrin 150mg for 5 weeks and we added Strattera 40mg. Pristiq for PMDD, Wellbutrin for motivation and Strattera for focus. Separately they help each thing only. So was wondering if anyone else is on a combo like this and it’s helped. And how long. I seem to be anxious more lately before adding Strattera....hoping this helps it. No libido what so ever.
Avatar f tn What your doc has seen is the new info on Cymbalta that came out when the manufacturer applied for an additional approval for fibromyalgia and other pain sufferers and the FDA committee discovered at least a dozen liver deaths from Cybalta. But Pristiq, which is the new and improved Effexor, might have the same not yet revealed problem. In the old days, when tricyclics were the rage, everyone on them had to get their liver enzymes checked regularly. Most meds are liver toxic to an extent.
Avatar f tn I am so scared I have caused damage to my liver. After I get off of these will it repair itself or am I in trouble. The only syntom I have right now is welling in my akiles and feet. But i have taken fluid pills for the fluid for yrs before I started taken lorcet.
Avatar f tn I am just curious to hear about any personal experiences you may have had with Pristiq and/or Effexor. My doctor has been favoring Pristiq but with no real valid reasons why and when I researched the two, based on clinical findings, I'm not sure that Pristiq is really better than Effexor. Thoughts?
Avatar m tn The recommended dose of paracetamol for a single adult is two standard 500 mg tablets. Researches have reported that the threshold for liver damage to start from a single paracetamol overdose is 15 gms (30 tablets). However liver damage could start to occur at a single overdose of 24 standard tablets or 150 mg/kg body weight, (whichever is the smaller).
Avatar f tn (Former drug user) what are the chances I already have liver damage??? I go in the morning for a liver scan to check and I am nervous to know!!!
Avatar n tn Is it possible to cause liver damage from a few years of pain med abuse? Damage severe enough to cause stomach pains?
Avatar n tn I have been taking Darvocet for about two years now. I began just taking one a week at night after a bad day and it has progressed to 1-3 daily for about 6 months now. I went to the Dr. for a checkup yesterday and the ALT liver function test was high. The other liver tests were normal just that one was high. The Dr. thinks it is from my acid reflux medication and is changing that but I rarely take it. Could it be the Darvocet?

Avatar f tn Can anyone tell me what it's called when you have liver damage from medications
Avatar f tn The only way to truly ease your mind is by being totally honest with him/her. I have liver damage and kidney damage due to drugs stage 2 liver stage 3 kidney.. if your liver were damaged and you had a flare your belly would be extended/pain upper right you would be lethargic/vomiting.. other symptoms but these being severe.. It is not fun and I would not wish it on anyone.. I contracted hep C from slamming and further continued the damage through pills/alcohol..
Avatar n tn I have never been to hospital, I dont appear to have yellowing of the skin or eyes. What is the likly hood of damage to my liver, and if stoped now could my liver possibly recover from and damege.
Avatar f tn Hard to say but if he stops attacking the liver with alcohol, no further damage should be done and some of those numbers should go down at least a little.
1012981 tn?1322603293 My brother has been in the hospital for 12 days for liver damage. His skin and eyes are yellow, abdomen pain and swelling of the stomach. They drained off 12 liters of fluid from stomach area. He's has dementia, no communicating with him that makes any sense. In this situation what is his chance to make it through this? The doctors and nurses are not saying much, but wait and see.

Avatar f tn Should I be worried that I have liver damage that is just not showing up? I have changed my diet significantly ( no dairy or gluten) but I am still very bloated. I am sick with worry that I have caused permanent damage. I am still very young, 28. What are ur thoughts?
Avatar n tn I switched from 150 mg Effexor (3 months) to 50 mg Pristiq (2 months). Gained lots of weight on Effexor. On Pristiq kept gaining weight plus my period never came back (2 months). Stopped Pristiq cold turkey because my doc told me it was either this (tablet should not be cut...risk of serotonyne syndrome) or going back to Effexor and counting beads. It´s been 2 weeks and I feel strong spasms in my brain. Like something is pressuring it, especially in the back of my head.
Avatar f tn Some are highly liver toxic, some are less so, but all meds are to at least some extent liver toxic. It might just mean getting tested regularly, it might mean avoiding certain classes. So it really is something that nees to be coordinated with an expert, not us.
