pristiq

Avatar f tn Now for the past 3 wks or so ive had horrible hot flashes and for about 2 wks i have really bad nightmares, also bn feeling on edge again i have mood swings outta no where, breast tenderness as well hmm wonder if that has anything to do with it but just throwing it out there.
Avatar m tn 50mg of Pristiq=150mg of Effexor. I found Pristiq did not cause as much low libido as Effexor has for me. I also didn't gain weight on it. Same might be true for Effexor for me (who knows?). I gained weight on Celexa and felt significantly more blunted emotionally by it. I think, if Pristiq is only 150mg of Effexor at it's theraputic dose than it may work for some, but if your depression is very severe, it might not be a high enough dose? Just a thought.
603543 tn?1255298050 The one thing I love about Pristiq is no 'hot flashes' and profuse sweating, but I am beginning to wonder if the bad side effects are going to get any better. If not I will have to switch back.
Avatar m tn 1) Would anyone who has ever taken this medication please tell me about their own experience on Pristiq? I have been on pristiq for almost a year and it works great for me, as long as I remember to take it. The biggest problem is that if you forget to take it, it effects your whole body you feel like your coming down with something. I would say about a day and half after not taking it the withdrawl symptoms start and they are horrible.
746058 tn?1248348265 My OBGYN also put me on Effexor for hot flashes and night sweats because I wasn't a candidate for hormone therapy and I'm going thru' menopause. I happen to have POTS, but wasn't put on the medication for the POTS. I became very sick after that with nausea, shakiness, and a most terrible moodiness. I had to be taken off the medication and it took quite a while to get out of my system. That being said, I've read good things about it; for POTS and menopausal changes.
Avatar f tn Never got a straight answer from him on how I could have build ups and then not. For six months, I was treated by the psychiatrist with Klonoprin at first and then Pristiq for a conversion disorder, something that made absolutely no sense to me. I have no history of depression, I am happily married (30 years), grew up in a happy home, have never been abused, experienced no extreme trauma.
692643 tn?1372614827 I broke out w/ horrenous welts all over my enitre body and not to mention I was having severe hot flashes after a full surgical hysterectomy..I felt as if someone was lighting matches and tossing them @ me.during the Summmer it was aweful...where I would just leap up and yelp..in the bus, in BBQ's. except for my face.Thank God....still after 2 years I have the scars..(don't laugh) I'm on it again.. .I believe while I was on Cymbalta last April...I took a percocet for my back & legs.
1547573 tn?1293758787 I took Savella for a while I had light hot flashes occassionaly, but it gave me manic burst of paranoia and energy so I don't take it anymore, heart was beating like a rabbit. Pristiq has given me hot flashes as well but it's gotten less often as I have been on it. It may just be common to these types of drugs. You'll probably try a few before settling on the right one for you.
Avatar m tn Have experienced this symptom for years, my flashes tend to be mainly in the left eye occasionally in the right, I too have many floaters. Would agree with the tension thing in the shoulders and neck and like others on here I'm a worrier. Have had an eye exam all seems OK, I think that there is truth in the fact that the brain does seem to draw attention to them and may well be a psychological thing/stress thing.
1381925 tn?1280792141 It started with uncontrollable crying episodes that weren't triggered by events and led to memory loss, confusion, hot/cold flashes, blue hands and feet, delayed speech and feeling unbalanced. All of these symptoms resulted in me having to be medically homebound for my senior yr. of high school. I was diagnosed with depression and comfortable with the diagnosis until now. I have tried everything to lessen the symptoms!

Avatar f tn I also had muscle weakness, nausea, confusion, a delay in my speech, and hot flashes that traveled up and down my body. I called my old primary and they told me to wait off the side effects of the imitrex instead of going to the ER. My head continued to burn for two months when another doctor finally pulled me off of the serotonin medication. The burning is gone for the most part but I am left with what they are now calling generalized dystonia.
Avatar m tn Since the earliest appointment with the pain management doctor who prescribed pristiq is still two weeks away, I decided to talk to the pharmacist who filled the prescription. The doctor would probably suggest doing this anyway. She said the hot flashes I'm experiencing are more likely caused by the pristiq than any problem with the neck surgery I had a few months ago.

Avatar f tn 5 every other day and feeling okay I stopped and started my new prescription, Wellbutrin-- well, for two days now I'm nauseous, shaky, hot/cold sweats, feel like my eyes are vibrating somewhat when I make too fast of motion with my head. It's as if I have symptoms of Vertigo and can't fix it. I'd rather be shot in the foot and deal with that discomfort and pain than these annoying side-effects. What do I do?
Avatar m tn Well that little glitch seems to be over. Now I'm just back to hot flashes. Medications can do some wierd things. Makes me wonder why people ever want to do drugs? Wierd.
962875 tn?1314213636 Hi Kat! There wasn't room to paste the whole article (and the parts I included ended up mangled for some reason), but it also discussed more about some people having a gene deficiency that makes them unable to metabolize CYP2D6. This was the article's recommendation: "What You Can Do? If you are a candidate for tamoxifen therapy to treat breast cancer, talk with your physician about the CYP2D6 issue.
Avatar f tn none of the other made me sick like cymbalta, but i was living in a 24 hours sauna with the hot flashes. i live where it gets cold and people wear down jackets...i wear a tee shirt...plus, hubby always cold and i am running like a hotwater heater out of control. hair is always wet....etc etc etc...i do think i will get in to doc sooner than we planned and get started on something else. it seems like everything just snowballed on me and hasn't stopped.
1381925 tn?1280792141 Nothing happened that triggered my symptoms. I have had blood testing for iron levels, and for thyroid.
890684 tn?1288813638 Well it sounds like you have a lot of anxiety about health issues. I myself, am quite the hypochondriac and have been through tons of tests and doctors visits. a lot of the weird symptpms you are feeling can be attributed to anxiety. Anxiety can make your body have a "tinging" sensation, have hot flashes, and random aches and pains. I experience all of this with my anxiety, especially during anxiety attacks. I read in your previous post that you experience nausia...
1096641 tn?1271710825 I feel so good...not worrying about sneaking off the the bathroom to swallow some pills...no 'hot flashes' to deal with...mind is clear, i can stay on track today. this is all so worth it.
Avatar f tn I have had so much diarroea that I think I have a hemroid now. Vomitting, hot flashes, extreme fatigue, crying at EVERYTHING and VERTIGO! Slept pretty much for the past 3 days, the nausea and spinniness is just aweful, and constant. Though it seems gravol is helping a little bit with that. What is really bothering me though is this wierd swooshiness in my head... and increasingly a "lightning-like" sensation rushes though... it's weird ...
453029 tn?1205955019 I just started on 100 2x per day and 2 at bedtime, so total 400 mg per day. After the second day, I was able to finally sleep. Have perimemopausal insomnia, hot flashes, anxiety, and currently a herniated disk in my lower back. Am hoping pain relief will kick in, but my current dose may be too low.

Avatar m tn Hi Thanks for the post! How are you now? Variants of Dandy Walker’s Syndrome are associated with other genetic syndromes and diseases. Most common is abnormally functioning cilia which are present everywhere in the body like in nostrils, digestive system, urinary system etc. The co-existence of other genetic disorders results in these multi organ or multi system symptoms.
196469 tn?1365391575 This is a particularly ominous development for women - Wyeth is also asking the FDA to approve Pristiq as a drug to reduce hot flashes in menopause. Pristiq is the successor to Effexor XR, whose patent expires in two years. Sales of Effexor last year were $3.8 billion. By the way, Effexor is not exactly a great drug either. Just check my blog on the topic and read about its side-effects and disastrous record when it comes to attempting to get off it. But let me get back to what matters.
Avatar n tn My head continued to burn for two months when another doctor finally pulled me off of the pristiq. The burning is gone for the most part but I am left with what they are now calling generalized dystonia. I also have a chiari malformation and a cousin who also has both disorders. I'm currently on valium and artane for the muscles spasms.
429155 tn?1205676864 30 went to bed, think I slept for an hour, wierd dreams hot, and a real bad temper mood, ( this maybe my daughters fault ). 16:30. Mood ( temper?? ) was real bad, feel a bit sweaty, stomach turning overand the chills, legs were crawling, but can walk that off.My energy levels seem to need a boost Hmmmm, Lucozade drink maybe ??.. Wednesday 17:00- 20:00 a bit shivery, 21:00 flu like symtoms return and am very tired, cold and shivers, also having bad mood swings.
Avatar n tn I have been on Savella for about a month and it seems to be working but after reading all these posts, I will keep an eye on it. As for the sweats and hot flashes, I thought that was from menopause, not the Savella, maybe it makes it worse, but I can live with those. My pain is not entirely gone but much better and I just seem to have a more general feeling of well being. Still get tired (CFS) so by afternoon, I stop and rest, but am hoping none of the terrible things I read come true.
