pristiq

1547573 tn?1293755187 I took Savella for a while I had light hot flashes occassionaly, but it gave me manic burst of paranoia and energy so I don't take it anymore, heart was beating like a rabbit. Pristiq has given me hot flashes as well but it's gotten less often as I have been on it. It may just be common to these types of drugs. You'll probably try a few before settling on the right one for you.
746058 tn?1248344665 Hi, My name is Lois (Groggyfroggy) I'm new here. My OBGYN also put me on Effexor for hot flashes and night sweats because I wasn't a candidate for hormone therapy and I'm going thru' menopause. I happen to have POTS, but wasn't put on the medication for the POTS. I became very sick after that with nausea, shakiness, and a most terrible moodiness. I had to be taken off the medication and it took quite a while to get out of my system.
Avatar f tn Now for the past 3 wks or so ive had horrible hot flashes and for about 2 wks i have really bad nightmares, also bn feeling on edge again i have mood swings outta no where, breast tenderness as well hmm wonder if that has anything to do with it but just throwing it out there.
Avatar m tn I took Pristiq for a few months and it didn't do much for me (but, you know, different meds work for different people). My biggest complaint was actually coming off of the Pristiq. I had brain zaps for almost a month afterward (and this was with tapering off) to the point that I was getting nauseated because my vision would blur. I didn't have any side effects while I was on it (other than it doing...nothing).
603543 tn?1255294450 I have been on 50mg pristiq for a couple of months now. I switched from 200mg Zoloft. First of all, I have gained weight, I am fatigued all the time. I sleep and after a couple of hours need another hour or so nap. I am not motivated to do anything, my body aches all over. The one thing I love about Pristiq is no 'hot flashes' and profuse sweating, but I am beginning to wonder if the bad side effects are going to get any better. If not I will have to switch back.
Avatar n tn I am a breast cancer survivor for 8 years now; I have severe hot flashes; every 45 minutes day and night; it has totally affected my quality of life...and ability to sleep; I recently found out I could take this drug. I am on 200 mg nightly; so far I have been waking up and had insomnia; will this get better and go away; I have only taken it for two nights; also how long does it take before one might notice their hot flashes have decrease? My dr. said I might have to go up to 400 mg.
Avatar f tn Pregnancy night sweats are similar to hot flashes, although they take place during the night as a woman sleeps as opposed to hot flashes that occur during the day. Night sweats during pregnancy, which is also known as "nocturnal hyperhydrosis" during pregnancy occur because the body´s temperature gauge begins to malfunction as a result of hormonal imbalance that occurs during pregnancy.
Avatar f tn I am a 52 year old female. Post menopause and on hormones. Just hot my thyroid levels at a good level. I switched from pristiq to cymbalta back in November. I am tired ALL the time. More than when my thyroid was out of whack. Could the cymbalta be causing this and if so, what if I took it at night?
Avatar f tn I also had muscle weakness, nausea, confusion, a delay in my speech, and hot flashes that traveled up and down my body. I called my old primary and they told me to wait off the side effects of the imitrex instead of going to the ER. My head continued to burn for two months when another doctor finally pulled me off of the serotonin medication. The burning is gone for the most part but I am left with what they are now calling generalized dystonia.

Avatar f tn My doc mentioned estrogen too, if my hot flashes were too much but I declined. The hot flashes actually went away for about 6 - 8 months and I thought maybe it was a change of climate and also I did some online reading and found that some women say some foods, like spicy foods might trigger hot flashes so I limited my diet. They're back now though and I'm not sure why except I am back to eating more variety in foods, even spicy foods.
Avatar n tn 1. Accupuncture 2. Relaxation therapy 3. Regular exercise 4. Reduction in weight/body mass index (If overweight, try to lose 10% of weight. This may also lower risk for BC recurrence in hormone receptor positive BC.) 5, Clonodine (also used for hypertension) 6. Gabapentin ( also used for seizure disorders) 7.
973741 tn?1342342773 Getting older is a pain! LOL I just am not a fa of the flavor of chamomile tea but maybe will look at some of the sleepy time tea. I didn't know if you already get hot if having a hot beverage before bed would affect that. I plant a fan directly on me even with the overhead ceiling fan blowing. It's rough to get hot flashes at night, disturbs the sleep!
443862 tn?1237999439 Hi Marshmellow, I started having hot flashes that would come before a panic attack. For the panic I started taking lexapro. Since I have been on lexapro I haven't had a panic attack. I told my O.B. about it and she said that they actually had looked at lexapro to help hot flashes. When I decided to go off lexapro I started having hot flashes. So for me, somehow they are connected. Good luck! You are definitely not alone.

1026267 tn?1257591273 I had my thyroid removed 2 yrs ago and am taking 137 mcg Synthroid Mon-Thur and half dose Fri-Sun. In the last month I have been dealing with almost constant hot flashes. Could there be a connection to the non thyroid condition or might something else be happening? I am 68 and way past the hot flash stage.
Avatar f tn Hot flashes were always the first sign for me! Days before the hpt would show a bfp. I hope it's a good sign for you too! Good luck.
612876 tn?1355514495 m not going through menopause, yet I have hot flashes randomly. Anyone else have this problem? Is it related to the blood pressure? I'm almost positive it started before they started me on any of the meds, so I don't think it's a side effect . . . but then again, my memory isn't always golden. Ha!

Avatar n tn I am also being treated for hypothyroidism. Any suggestions for what is causing these hot flashes/night sweats?
Avatar f tn Hi, I was just discussing hot flashes with someone who works for a Naturopath. She complained to him of her terrible hot flashes causing her to get up several times each night to towel off and change. The Naturopath recommended Vitamin E supplements. Not sure what dosage. But she started taking them and said she hasn't had night sweats since. Worth a shot. Good luck!
