Prilosec with mylanta

Common Questions and Answers about Prilosec with mylanta

Avatar n tn I guess my stomach is a little less acidy with Prilosec but my stomach still is quite bothersome and can be quite painful, gassy, bloaty, const./d-ish, etc. I also have to watch it with how much I eat or I can get nauseated too. Another strange symptom is that my voice box seems to be sore or something and I have had a sore throat for almost a year. I remember taking Prilosec before my surgery and I don't remember it causing pain then, but had other strange symptoms.
Avatar n tn Do you have your appendix? I lived on Mylanta for FOUR YEARS with nausea, weird abdominal pain that felt like acute hunger pangs, embarrassingly noisy gut, etc.The docs just kept giving me acid blockers. I was finally diagnosed by an ER RECEPTIONIST (!), went in for an emergency appendectomy, and lo and behold, it was perforated and gangrenous, had walled itself off in a big pocket of pus. Since the appendectomy (3 years ago) I haven't had any more "stomach" problems.
Avatar m tn While researching the aciphex I found that it may cause hair loss as well. Is anyone familiar with or experiencing hair loss associated with either of these medications?
221122 tn?1323014865 I took Prilosec for six months with no changes in my pvc's. Prilosec didn't work so they switched me to Protonix and I have been taking it since June. I haven't noticed anything until recently so I'm not sure it is related. I went 4 months with no problems. Of course my doctor assured me that Protonix wouldn't bother my heart. I'm going to try taking it every other day now because the reflux is so much better.
Avatar n tn Is there a known problem with taking Questran or Prilosec for a long time?
Avatar m tn Then, like clockwork, about 5pm a flareup begins with bad gas and abdominal cramps and lasts 3-4 hrs. Since I take the prilosec at 6 am I wondered if at that time it is wearing off.
Avatar n tn I eat only heart healthy and now only cream of wheat white toast turkey water banana cashews crushed vits in cereal. Heartburn with so many things Mylanta no help Tums either Bought Gaviscon Carafate : helped The PPI's and others I wish were 6 hours so we could test effects first? Prilosec : Not yet ?
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with GERD, and was put on Pepsid AC and Mylanta. The Mylanta never seemed to help, but the Pepsid helped for a few days, and the symptoms came back. My main symptom is nausea and every once in a while I feel burning in my upper stomach and esophagus, and also my gastroesophageal sphincter does jumping jacks. I tried Prilosec but I did not do the whole 14 days at once. It, too, seemed to help for a few days and the symptoms came back.
Avatar n tn Also raise the head end of the bed by 2 blocks. For now, pls take some antacid like Maalox and Mylanta or OTC medications like zantac or prilosec. The raised heart rate can be due to effects of smoking on heart.Smoking is one of the modifiable risk factors for coronary heart disease. It has been seen that smoking increases blood pressure, decreases exercise tolerance and increases the tendency for blood to clot. I feel that the treatment of all your symptoms lies in quitting smoking.

Avatar m tn Two weeks of nasty acid reflux symptoms have subsided. I am no longer taking prilosec, popping Tums or swigging Mylanta. The acid reflux episode scared me so much that is caused some anxiety (or did the anxiety cause the acid reflux? I may never know). As I have returned to work and are beginning to resume normal daily activities, the anxiety is subsiding. The symptoms associated with the hiatel hernia had subsided as well but have returned with a vengeneance.
Avatar f tn Prilosec otc is great. In a pinch warm water with a tsp of baking soda is also good.
Avatar n tn First, I want to apologize for the long post. I'm trying to get some idea of what might be going on with my daughter, age 13. 4 weeks ago, she had what was diagnosed as the "stomach flu" consisting of vomiting 4-5x/day for 3 days (1/20-22.). The following Monday (1/26), after feeling perfectly fine for 3 days, she started experiencing severe pain in her upper abdomen, in the center up near her ribcage. PCP ruled out muscle strain (she's a competitive tumbler) and appendicitis.
Avatar m tn Any idea what this could be today? Ant acids like Prilosec, zantac and mylanta have had no effect, bentyl has a minimal effect.
Avatar n tn Thank you ____________ DEar Mary, The symptoms of esophagitis are related to acid reflux into the esophagus. Taking Prilosec and Mylanta will prevent acid secretion (Prilosec) effect and neutralize any acid that does reflux (Mylanta). There are however, a number of other therapeutic options.
Avatar n tn My doctor said to take prilosec and mylanta. Any suggestions?
Avatar n tn If the tums are not working then move to maalox or mylanta. If the heartburn continues you can try zantac, pepcid, or prilosec (which you can take for 2 weeks and then the symptoms should go away for awhile). Prilosec can make you feel kind of weak and not well, but it is worth it in as far as feeling better for awhile afterwards. When mine gets real bad, I take Prilosec for 2 weeks and then I'm okay for about 3 months again. Different foods can trigger it like spicy foods.
9442948 tn?1406820051 tums, maalox, mylanta, gaviscon, prilosec otc, zantaz otc.
Avatar m tn Try raising the head of your bed about four inches with blocks. It also might help to avoid eating or drinking for two hours before you lie down. To help control the stomach acid, one should not drink alcohol or drinks with caffeine in them, or eat chocolate or spicy or greasy foods . Take some OTC antacid like Mylanta. You can also take zantac(ranitidine)or prilosec(omeprazole) after consulting your physician. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
Avatar f tn I've tried antiacids like tums. I've attempted Gas-X and mylanta to help with bloating and feelings of gas. I've also tried PPI's and H2 Blockers like Tagament, Famotidine, Prevacid, Nexium, and Dexilant. Unfortunately, all to no relief. I'm at the end of the rope with these medications. I've changed my diet, and lost weight. I don't smoke or drink. Yet my heartburn is seemingly chronic. For me, it's chest pains after a meal (no matter how small).
Avatar f tn If your doctor said it was ok so there wont be no problem...but i wont take it Mylanta is good is what my doctor prescribe me.
Avatar n tn My fiancee has been having issues with Reflux, throat burning and pain, bloating. He took Prilosec for over four/five months. Initially the symptoms appeared to alleviate but they seemed to get worse. He decided to stop using and he indicated that his symptoms felt worse on Prilosec. He has been taking Mylanta and some over the counter antiacids- but they only have mild to moderate effects on his symptoms. He has lost weight and his appetite is decreasing.
Avatar f tn A few years ago I was diagnosed with ulcers and eroding esophagitis. Prescriptions and watching my diet cured these ailments. However my pcp still has me taking prilosec 20mg. Recently I have started having these pains. I have been taking beano, before meals, and mylanta if necessary. Sometimes I get sharp jabbing pains in upper chest area, lasting only seconds. Due to see pcp in 2 weeks. If suspect is gall bladder what tests would determine and would the result end in surgery?
Avatar f tn I had an EGD about 5 months ago that showed inflamation in the distal esophagus. I have tried Tagament, Zantac, Mylanta, Gelusil, Pepsid, Nexium, Prilosec, Protonix, and Kapidex. None of these medications have fixed my problem. Could I have a hiatal hernia that didn't show in the EGD?
Avatar f tn When I swallow it makes a gurggle sound in my throat. Have had these symptoms since November, doctor said it was acid reflux and put me on prilosec - didn't help!! Any suggestions of what this maybe caused from?? Thank you!
Avatar n tn Take some OTC antacid like Mylanta. You can also take zantac(ranitidine)or prilosec (omeprazole). These will help. Also keep your fluid electrolyte balance optimum by drinking lots of fluids. If the symptoms worsen then it may be due to H.Pylori infection. You need antibiotics in that case after prescription from a physician. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
Avatar f tn No relief and now has gastroenteritis from all the steroids and NSAIDS. Back to the ER and treated with viscous lidocaine and mylanta to numb stomach. This actually helped a little with stomach. I've stopped the neurontin, but have continued the topamax once daily. Now we are taking Prilosec and mylanta. This has changed my entire families life for exactly one month. It's been a living nightmare that seems as though it will never end. We just want to get back to our normal life's.

168348 tn?1379360675 We recently took her off Prevacid and now I'm dealing with reflux with my newborn son. I cannot stand the fact that he has it. We went through hell and back with DD and before she was put on Prevacid, we went through lots of sleepless nights (she would scream bloody murder from 7 pm to 4 am EVERY NIGHT!). I hope we'll get more people to join and help them with our experience. I also belong to It's also a great forum for moms like us.
238010 tn?1420409872 Has anyone treated acid reflux while having hep C? I was going to try Prilosec, then read that people with liver damage shouldn't take it. I've been sleeping upright at night but it's not enough.
