296025 tn?1233256719 WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF PREVACID USE WITH HEP C? SINCE ITS EXPENSIVE IS THERE A GENERIC FORM?
Avatar n tn I have been taking Prilosec OTC and my Doctor prescribed Nexium. It seems to me that they are the same, with one being extremely cheaper. I am Beginning my fifth month of pregnancy and I would like to know if it is safe to continue taking prilosec otc.
223372 tn?1240920676 I was very restless and anxious and the warnings were to quit it immediately if I experienced those symptoms. So, my OB put me on Prilosec OTC this week----I have read pros and cons on line.....anyone else out there have an opinion?
Avatar f tn m taking the right thing to fight it. Do mastic gum, DGL licorice, slippery elm, and OTC products like Prilosec or Prevacid, etc. cause loose stools? I'm prone to loose stools and don't want the problem to get worse. Thanks for any help and suggestions!
Avatar n tn I have actually been on some form of reflux med for a bit longer than 5yrs and started with Prilosec OTC, then prescription Prilosec, Nexium, Aciphex, and briefly Prevacid. These days I tend to take whatever I have in my medicine cabinet (Aciphex or Prevacid) twice a day, max dosage, and occasionally a tagamet to help out. I have a hiatial hernia that is going to be fixed soon so I am hoping to get off the meds and that the side effects will eventually go away...I hope.
168348 tn?1379357075 Ours went up to. I don't remember what it was but our share is like 70%. Prilosec OTC is now covered 100%. We have switched to that for me and Gary Will and it seems to be working. When he was a baby he had side affects with Prilosec so we stopped it but he doesn't appear to have them now.
Avatar m tn Is prevacid an otc item in the US? i work in a pharmacy in canada and its prescription. 15 mg and 30 mg.
Avatar m tn I have tried all OTC stuff, prevacid, prilosec, and aciphex. I may give nexium a shot because that seems to work the best for some people.
Avatar n tn s really bad and none of those help you can see if your doctor is ok with something like prevacid or prilosec.
Avatar m tn I get bad nausea from some of them .. so may be worth trying another brand and see if it goes away. Just my two cents as a patient ... I take Prevacid w/o a problem that is very pricy vs generic for Prilosec. I'd ask your Dr and see what he/she thinks, too ?
Avatar n tn It appears that maybe the lack of nicotine has caused some change in your stomach. Ten years ago, I developed a second ulcer, and I have taken one OTC Prilosec a day for 10 years with no problem. Why not try an experiment and take one Prilosec or Prevacid a day for 4 days to learn whether your heartburn has stopped? The stronger pill, Nexium, has just become available OTC and may deserve your consideration.
Avatar m tn Do not take double the over the counter dose (perscription dose) of any of these medications without first consulting your doctor. I have found that OTC Prevacid or Prilosec work well.
Avatar n tn Acid-reducer medications such as Prilosec, Nexium, Zantac, Prevacid, and others are available at any pharmacy. I have GERT, and I had an ulcer. I take one Prilosec, 20-mg, a day with no pain. Prilosec OTC, is 10-mg, is a good start. Take two if you later think you need it.. If I take two Prilosec, 20-mg, I get dry-mouth, so I only need one for 24 hours. Judge whether a capsule or tablet suits you, then decide whether you think you do not need to see a doctor.
Avatar n tn I too have GERD, and I take the same medication as you. I have never had any problem with Prilosec, 20-mg. The OTC Prilosec is 10-mg, and I take two capsules a day if my prescription at the VA is late. I have never noticed my bowel movement smells any worst than it normally does. There is a test you can do to judge whether Prilosec is affecting your bowels. There are about 4 or 5 competitors to Prilosec. Examples are Zantac, Prevacid, 15-mg; Pepcid 20-mg.
Avatar n tn Try the OTC prevacid that was just recently released. I used to be on prevacid when it was only available by prescription until my insurance company stopped covering it. I definitely am going to use the OTC version since the Prilosec my insurance co told me to use does absolutely nothing.
709686 tn?1277432159 maybe a little weight loss. Omeprazole (Prilosec or Zegerid) causes me all kinds of problems. Headache, chest pain, red/irritated eyes, all kinds of body aches, constipation and extreme thrist. Problem is...protonix is by script only and VERY EXPENSIVE! Someone talk to me about this. Has anyone else experienced these problems with Omeprazole?
Avatar f tn For the moment, see if your doc will allow you to use generic Omeprazole (aka, Prilosec OTC). While there are better things out there, it might work as a stop gap measure that's not as extreme as Reglan. Good luck.
963268 tn?1312900315 Also, inquire whether an acid reducer like Prilosec, Zantac, Nexium, Prevacid is prescribed for you? In the meantime, you can try the OTC-version of the mentioned medications. The concentration of the OTC medicine is usually half of the prescribed medicine. Take one or two tablets to get relief for you.
977806 tn?1249067346 Hello. I have GERD and just received a prescription for Nexium (have been using OTC Prilosec but after using a couple weeks of samples found Nexium worked perfect for my symptoms). I have individual Carefirst but horrible prescription plan. I just purchased 30 Nexium at $160.00! Is there anyone that has ordered from Canada online and if so do you have any recommendations for an online pharmacy. Thanks for any information.
Avatar f tn Is it okay to take Prilosec? They said Zantac was okay, but not to take Prevacid. I bought Prilosec and want your opinions on it.
Avatar f tn I take Prilosec OTC everyday. I been taken it since my first trimester. It helps and safe.
Avatar f tn I am on Nexium and it has done nothing. I still feel the same. Doc just told me to try Prilosec OTC so I started that today. The past few days I've been starting to get nausea in patches throughout the day. For example, today i've had it steady all day, with it getting worse at certain times. Please help!
Avatar n tn t seem to help her and our GI switched her to prilosec. My daughter has had no complaints with the prilosec. Both prevacid and prilosec have the same actions so they do the same things. The only interaction that I know of with prevacid and penicillin is with a type of penicillin called Ampicillin and it may inhibit the absorption of the prevacid.
Avatar m tn If so are H2 meds like Pepcid and Zantac ok, or are PPI meds like Prilosec and Prevacid better? Thanks and have a great day!
