prevacid

1391312 tn?1421086993 Yes Bill, I have been taking the Prevacid 30 mg 2 X a day, and has stopped working for me. I have been on a lot of different ones over the years, I will let you know what he puts me on this time.
Avatar f tn I have done tons of research... prevacid or dexilant etc are meant to take about 2 months, myself and many other people have been on it for years! acid reflux can be caused by TOO LITTLE ACID, so maybe the medication is making it worse, now i am feeling the side effects? (nausea and stomach cramping off and on for last year) or perhaps Apple cider vinegar does neutralize the reflux? I bet of all the people who have reflux 95% can be helped with ORGANIC APPLE CIDER VINEGAR....
1806721 tn?1554333407 I have never taken Prevacid before. Are these two the same thing? Can I use Prilosec to substitute the Prevacid in the pack? I'm scared of stopping Prilosec as my symptoms always get worse when I tried to wean myself off the drug in the past. I'm also horrified by the idea of combined antibiotics for extended time. I can barely tolerate a single antibiotic agent for 5d in the past. How much probiotics should I take to counteract the side effects of antibiotics? Thank you!
Avatar f tn I'm a 42 year old female. Fairly healthy. I've been diagnosed with GERD since 2002. I had it under control with low-dose PPI's, diet changes and lifestyle changes until 2006. For the next couple years, I was diligent about my diet, lifestyle changes and taking my prescriptions which included taking high-dose PPI's twice a day (Prevacid Solutabs, Nexium, Protonix, Prevacid, Zegrid, Kapidex, Aciphex, etc....) and supplemented with Gaviscon or Zantac.
238010 tn?1420406272 I had been taking Prevacid, then Aciphex then Dexilant, all heavy weight prescription drugs for reflux once, sometimes twice a day for years with HepC and little if any fibrosis. When you are treating I think you need to be careful from what I have heard (see post on the subject of other medications and treatment). This of course doesn't mean one doesn't make the necessary dietary changes as well as not eating within 4 hours of bedtime and elevating the head of the bed etc.
Avatar m tn I take a proton pump inhibitor (Prevacid) each morning for reflux and my primary care doc says it quiets the vagus nerve (near the heart) down, helps with irritation that might cause irregular beats. I try to take it an hour after my dose of Atenolol -- I want to make sure I'm absorbing my Atenolol. I think Jeric is on to something -- I'd ask the doctor.
1387175 tn?1326400997 H2 blockers (ex. Zantec or Pepcid) are another type of medication used to treat GERD. PPI's (ex. Prilosec, Prevacid, Dexilant, Nexium, Protonix) are another class of medications used to treat GERD. H2 blockers are generally thought to be safer with less adverse reactions than PPI's.
Avatar f tn s (proton pump inhibitors) are a group of medications used to treat GERD like Prilosec, Prevacid, Protonix, Aciphex, Nexium, and Dexilant.
Avatar f tn Even though medicines like nexium, prilosec, prevacid, protonix, aciphex, and dexilant are all very similar, sometimes you need to try many of them before you find one that works well for you. The nausea could be caused by the GERD. Are you on a GERD-friendly diet? Have you tried raising the head of your bed?
963268 tn?1312900315 Also, inquire whether an acid reducer like Prilosec, Zantac, Nexium, Prevacid is prescribed for you? In the meantime, you can try the OTC-version of the mentioned medications. The concentration of the OTC medicine is usually half of the prescribed medicine. Take one or two tablets to get relief for you.
Avatar f tn I am not familiar with the new PPi you are taking. personally, I prefer prevacid, protonix has also worked for me--but it did not work for my daughter--prevacid worked for her also. You might ask if you can take carafate--it is prescription--and kind of the cadillac of antacids. You would probably have to make sure you time it right with your PPI. My youngest daughter was born with a hiatal hernia--she had two upper GIs and an endoscopy--none of which showed her hiatal hernia.
Avatar n tn The only medication she started around that time was Dexilant 60mg. There is no history of heart problems but there are digestive issues. In april she had some bloodwork done and then again this month. We are thinking that she has symptoms of anemia but the doctors are saying its nothing too serious. Could the symptoms be caused by Dexilant? If so, how long until the Dexilant is out of her system (I mean if she would go off of it.) Also, is this bloodwork indicative of Iron deficiency anemia?
787406 tn?1339203183 I was told if the pain came back to go to the emergency room. I was given Dexilant given a sheet for more blood work to be done and sent home. This pain is excruciating like someone squeezing your chest and then the pain radiating to between your shoulder blades where it feels like it is tightening. I am scared as I was alone last night and had to call my husband who is on the road til tonight. What else can be causing this pain besides the heart or esophagel spasms?
Avatar m tn I tried a few different ones and none seemed to help except Dexilant after 8 months of use. The symptoms I have are extreme nausea almost daily, stomach pain, acid feeling, bloating, gas, a bubble that appears in my stomach below my sternum, scratchy throat. This happens after i consume anything that is acidic, chocolate, alcohol, mint, fruits, anything but water to drink, sugary foods, fried foods. I basically have felt nauseous all the time for the last 8 years.
Avatar n tn Both GERD and hiatal hernias are contributors to different types of cardiac arrhythmia. There is plenty of authoritative information online and here at Medhelp.org. Many hiatal hernias can benrepaired laparoscopically under general anesthesia. I believe the procedure your physician is describing is the standard method of repair. At 83, you probably must weigh the risk associated with the procedure vs. the results you'll enjoy.
Avatar f tn Someone in my family is experiencing a lot of pain and burping at the same time. The pain is on the side of her neck and is constantly burping don't know why but she's been to the ER to the regular doctor and her appointment with the GI Doctor is a month away. The doctor has prescribed Dexilant but it hasn't worked and has been 3 days. Does anyone have any idea of what this could be and why it's causing her so much pain?
Avatar f tn By mid August 2021 everything went back to normal, I ate what i wanted and still took dexilant until my insurance said dexilant was going to cost more so I started taking omeprazole 20 milligrams in late 2021. Still everything was going great then in March 2022 I went to my doctor and started only taking it three times then two times a week. Eventually I stopped taking it all together in Jan. 2023 I had no problems at all.
Avatar n tn which is the safer drug, nexium or prevacid? This discussion is related to Nexium VS Protonix.
1651157 tn?1302383870 A yr. ago I was prescriped Dexilant 60mg. everytime the script runs out I just get a refill. BUT now I hear I should of stopped usng it like 6-8 months ago. So do I cont. using it or not??? I had my esophogas enlarged that is why I was prescriped it.
296025 tn?1233256719 WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF PREVACID USE WITH HEP C? SINCE ITS EXPENSIVE IS THERE A GENERIC FORM?
Avatar n tn i take prevacid for my gerd, can this cause atrial fibrillation This discussion is related to acid reflux.
Avatar n tn patient has reflux controlled by prevacid 2x/day. sometimes has difficulty swallowing. what would a brain scan reveal about reflux or diverticulosis?
Avatar f tn My daughter (age 27) has been on prevacid for quiet some time for indigestion. She had lunch a few days ago and about an hour later began to have diarrhea and vomiting every 10 to 15 minutes for about 6 to 7 hrs accompanied with severe pain on her right side, under her ribs. She spent several hours in an ER and after blood test, ultrasound, iv and medications she was told that everything was fine but to follow up with her doctor the next day.
Avatar f tn It took years, but in 2012 I had an upper endoscopy and was diagnosed with bile reflux, due to the large pool of bile that was seen in my stomach. Since then, I have been on Dexilant, 60mg. Last week, I had what I call a flare up of my reflux. It always starts as extreme upper abdomen pain accompanied by constant belching. These flare ups typically last a day or so.
Avatar n tn Could the symptoms be caused by Dexilant? If so, how long until the Dexilant is out of her system (I mean if she would go off of it.) Also, is this bloodwork indicative of Iron deficiency anemia? B12? or what is anyone's thoughts based on the bloodwork. I will be writing two numbers the first one is the blood work from April, the second is the recent bloodwork. RBC: 4.29 3.88 Hemoglobin: 12.4 11.4 Hematocrit: 39.3% 35.
