Back in February, I was diagnosed with stomach polyps caused by PPIs (Prevacid in my case). I have numerous polyps and have had 2 endoscopes with biopsies. Both times they came back benign. After doing quite a bit of research, I found that this is not uncommon at all. Also, there isn't a known case of these polyps turning into any form of cancer. In fact, my gastreonologist even went to the scientist at Prevacid. She isn't very concerned and just wants to keep an eye on them.

I have also been diagnosed with H. Pylori, I was wondering if I could take Prevacid with these other medications? I have tried everything else and this would be a last resort.

Right now, I am taking Prevacid 30mg. My voice at times is hoarse, so I went to an ENT dr. and he sent me for a test to look into my throat, and I was told that I have swollen vocal cords, and the acid is still backing up. I took Prilosec OTC but it did not agree with me. I have rashes on my knees, elbows, back and my neck and back and head hurt, Is the Prevacid enough and could it be causing all these symptoms?

By February, my stomach started seeming to bloat really bad after meals. I went to see an Urgent Care doctor and they prescribed me with Prevacid, as well as trying to order some xrays, a barium swallow, etc. But I followed up with my primary doctor and she told me that I should just take the Prevacid and not worry about the xrays and such. That acid reflux is "normal" and Prevacid will help it. And it did. Or maybe I was thinking it was. Until I ran out of it about 3 weeks ago.

I am aware of Protonix generic Pantoprazole. I have now been advised by a Pharmacist that Prevacid will help me. Will it?? Is this a Beta Blocker only or more? Are there ANY Proton pump Inhibitors out there other than Protonix and generic?. Is there a hospital injection of medicine that can be given? I will anxiously await any and all replys. I am living on Pepcid now with little relief. My Pharmacy puts Protonix at $737. for 180 40mg.tabs of Protonix and $570 for Pantoprazole.

The strange thing about my issue is that over the past two years, it only presents itself as a stomach ache and it really doesn't matter what I eat. In fact, I have it in the morning a lot. When it comes on I will have it for months and all of a sudden it will go away randomly for several months.

I found that antacids gave me some relief from the asthma-like symptoms i experienced (which are always brought on by exercise, but sometimes come out of nowhere also). I went to see a doctor again and gave her this information. I had a Barium Swallow, and reflux was found, but no hiatal hernia was found. She prescribed Prevacid, which I have been taking for several months now, and said I should take a Pepcid AC before exercise.

My daughter also takes pentasa and WAS taking prevacid. The prevacid didn't seem to help her and our GI switched her to prilosec. My daughter has had no complaints with the prilosec. Both prevacid and prilosec have the same actions so they do the same things. The only interaction that I know of with prevacid and penicillin is with a type of penicillin called Ampicillin and it may inhibit the absorption of the prevacid.

s what I meant. I meant Prevacid. Mine was put on Zantac first and was then switched to Prevacid and that was better. The Zantac only helped for like a couple of weeks and then went right back. Well, if they have tried all of that, then maybe a GI specialist is the route to go. It sounds like your doc has tried everything. And maybe your doc is right. Maybe when Julian starts solids, it will help. I hope so.....for both your sake. I know it's hard....Just hang in there.

There is plenty of authoritative information online and here at Medhelp.org. Many hiatal hernias can benrepaired laparoscopically under general anesthesia. I believe the procedure your physician is describing is the standard method of repair. At 83, you probably must weigh the risk associated with the procedure vs. the results you'll enjoy.

I am having a problem with taking my Prevacid 4 hrs. after Synthroid. Right now my routine is to take Synthroid when I first get up and 6 AM. an hour later eat something void of fiber (usually egg sub.) The 4 hrs. later I take the Prevacid and have another small meal (cereal usually). The problem is something is causing a bad taste to come back in to my mouth sometime after all this and I am thinking it is because the Prevacid really is not being taken prior to eating.

I just went to the doctor to get blood tests and make sure that my drinking has not already damaged my body beyond repair. My doctor gave me Prevacid for some stomach issues I have been Having. Does anyone know if it is safe to take it when I have been drinking? I am really trying to stop but I am having problems with the withdrawls so I am trying to wean myself off. Any one have any opinions? I would hate to do more damage when I ma trying to correct already done damage.

Now off hydro 5 days, taking prevacid again. I will deal with acid reflux and take my prevacid..Stress does make it flare up really bad...so just maybe I can get it back under control soon...

Laura (the moderator) has tons of information in her welcome links. Prevacid 101 is one that pops in my head. The only thing I know for certain is to give it followed by a meal 30-60 minutes later. OH MAN...I am just so thrilled for you and Julian! If the dose is high enough, you should see a completely different baby in about two weeks!!! What dose did they put him on, by the way?

In August 2008, my wife, who is 48, was diagnosed with GERD and put on Prevacid. The GERD was fairly severe, but the Prevacid helped her greatly along with a modified low fat diet. In November of 2008, during her routine physical, her blood work showed an amylase level of 108. Since this had never happened before, her primary care physician ordered a barium contrast CT scan of her abdomen and pelvis. The results were normal. During her routine physical this year, her amylase level was 145.

My bone density plummeted from 15% above normal to 25% below normal in 6 years (post menopause). Could Prevacid excellerate bone loss. I discovered I have a hiatus sliding hernia and gerd/acid reflux. Had endoscopy less than a year ago. On prevacid 60 mil. still symptomatic. Burping gas- regurgitation etc. My question is ...recently- I began having pressure to have a bm while eating? even after going. feels like I never went.. I'm having intestinal sounds and rumbling all the time and will have 2 or 3 bms a day. They have been softer but normal no bleeding....no weight loss other than 3 pounds at the docs office last week.

After taking Prevacid, I gain my appetite back. The problem is, I have develope new symptoms after taking prevacid for 1 week. I am having very loose bowel movements, blood on the toliet paper when I wipe, indigestion, lower abdominal pain. Most importantly is I am having more frequent heartburn and chest pain, which I don't have when I am on the H2 blocker.

i had blood work done and now my cholesterol is 160 without any changes except for the Prevacid. Can Prevacid lower cholesterol ? I was worried because I have read that an unexplained drop in cholesterol could mean cancer someplace.

I quit prevacid on many occasions cold turkey. It caused massive lower stomach cramps and thick painful diarrhea. I recommend you get off it immediately, however, slowly ween yourself off. DO NOT quit cold turkey. Get on Zantac. PPI's truly messed me up. Made me 1000 times sicker than my GERD. Now I've been off them for 6 months and live a normal healthy life. Those are poison. Doctors will do anything they can to get your money, don't belive the ppi hype.

Started Prevacid and also Strattera for ADD. We were able to wean off of the Prevacid and just stick to Strattera, as our peds thinks the Strattera helps him with the anxiety related to the GERD, and therefore he had no complaints of symptoms of GERD. In March we went off of the Strattera, and within 4 weeks the symptoms of GERD re-appeared ( Not eating, coughing, feeling like something is caught in his throat.) We went back on Strattera and Prevacid.
