contractions

Avatar f tn WHAT ARE THE SIGNS OF PRETERM LABOR? Contractions or tightenings are often felt through pregnancy. These are called Braxton Hicks contractions and usually happen when you change your position (lying down, going up and down stairs) or after sex. In preterm labor there is often a pattern to the contractions, with as many as 5 in one hour, lasting from 20 seconds to 2 minutes. They may or may not be painful.
1063386 tn?1287878569 I happened to be playing around and found chiari on YouTube. There are soo many videos. And than fuethur into my investigation I found most med students in basic med schools have to do presentations on chiari and related conditions now. I thought what a huge victory this might be for all of us and for future suffers with med schools no longer throwing a few paragraphs our way. Go to YouTube and type in chiari.
Avatar f tn I'm scared I'm not gonna know the difference between contractions and just pain from stretching muscles. I get pains here and there but that is from the growing. I don't want to go into preterm labor and I'm trying to stay hydrated and I know dehydration can lead to preterm labor. How will I know if I'm in preterm labor?
Avatar n tn So today ive been having like an urge to pee and pressure down low, but when I go barely anything comes out... Avatar f tn t be able to tell the difference between preterm contractions and preterm labors (which dilates and effaces cervix) without pelvic exam. If the latter, the sooner you discover it and jump on MgSO4 the better!
Avatar f tn d go to the hospital,I just experienced this a couple days ago, they but me on a monitor and I was having contractions so I was given shots to stop them and given fluids...I stayed overnight and wheniI was sent home I was put on procardia to slow/stop contractions..
Avatar f tn Anyone else having a problem with preterm contractions? My first born was 4 weeks early so my doctor feels that this one will come early as well. It's nerve wrecking because even though she knows I'm at risk, they aren't doing much to prevent it prevent it other than giving me meds to stop them which makes me really tired. I'm a grad student in my last semester of classes and they would rather pull me from school than find other preventative measures.
Avatar f tn Im 33 weeks and 4 days I went to the hospital for a nst and theu saw I was having minor contractions and gave me brethine to make me feel more comfortable I didn't feel the contractions l and d don't seem concerned about it and I was discharged but can they come back how will I know to go to the hospital any others been in the same boat?
Avatar f tn I was hospitalized Saturday for preterm contractions. I'm getting kind of worried. They gave me morphine to relax my uterus and sent me home after monitoring for a few hours. I'm at home now, and the morphine has worn off. My uterus is starting to ache again. I'm keeping track to make sure it's not following a pattern again, but I'm worried this will turn into a constant problem or that I will end up going into labor.
Avatar f tn I had it with my daughter. Don't be surprised if they put you on bed rest or stop the Contractions until you're full term (37 weeks or longer) I delivered her 4 days before her due date. Healthy as could be. They did have nicu on standby just in case when I did deliver her. She's almost 8 now.

Avatar f tn Congrats I will be 37wks on sunday andhave been having preterm contractions and thats what they feel like definately mention it to your ob but if they become more intense and are consistent and closer together just go in to l&d :) what are you having??
6295353 tn?1395241495 Preterm labor is anything before 37 weeks. Contractions basically. So they give you pills to take everyday so it can relax the uterus. And some ladies get a shot at the hospital to stop the contactions. Then put on bed rest for a while. But you still get Braxton Hicks.
Avatar f tn i went into preterm labor at 33 weeks and really all i had to do was be put on steriods to stop the contractions and stay on bedrest until I was full term. It is different for everyone though so if you are too concerned be sure to see someone about it. You can never be too safe...
11833551 tn?1421679623 It sounds like contrations there quite far apart but it could be preterm labour. Drink loads of water and move about a bit....but if they get any closer 5min apart take yourself to hosp!. your 35weeks even though its early babies do fine 35weeks on sp dont stress out. Keep calm and it will properly stop sometimes the body just practising for the big day !
Avatar f tn m not sure why other people are but I am on bed rest because I went into preterm labor at 31 weeks and luckily they stopped it. So now I am on bed rest till i have my little boy!
10870053 tn?1416581194 m having alot of pain in my belly and my baby girl is dropped really low. Well this morning I went to the bathroom and there was this slimy stuff on the paper. What could this be and What should I do .
4838572 tn?1367706719 If working is causing braxton hicks does that mean its getting close for me to stop working? I'll be 32 weeks on Tuesday but I only get contractions during work or when I get off and lay down I work at a fast food place but its not really strenuous I'm just on my feet and running around a lot.
3763041 tn?1354906251 Woke up thus morning and for about an hour had some fairly intense contractions. I have medication to relax my uterus and took out immediately after my first one, and it took about an hour for things to settle down, now its about 330 pm and again i'm feeling fairly strong contractions. I took my medicine like prescribed all day, and it was prescribed for cramps but should work the same on settling my uterus from these contractions but it just isn't.
Avatar f tn Had it stopped 3 times at 27wks and have been on meds since but still get cramps and contractions every day, now 34wks. I am scheduled for csection at 36wks tho due to my complications. I think it depends on why you went into preterm labour but I've read a lot of stories on the net that have still managed to go full term and even over so your chances are still good. Good luck!
Avatar f tn I went into preterm labor at 34 weeks. I dilated 2cm. I'm on medication to stop contractions. Sometimes it seems to work and other times I still get regular contractions. Has anyone else gone into labor while on medicine? And when did they let you off of it? I get major back pain since I started taking it and been on bedrest.
Avatar f tn m 36 weeks now and still have contractions on and off. You could go like that till your due date. Or the contractions could thin out your cervix and baby could come early. Just gotta wait and see!
1232362 tn?1333135406 Has anyone else caught Pancho the cat on the toilet paper commercial? It's about which way the roll should go and the man says under so his cats won't play with it and it flashes to him in the bathroom saying "Pancho! No!" and all the tp's on the floor and the cat is expressionless (and you who have cats know darn well they have expressions!) This cracks me up everytime!!
Avatar f tn I would head to l&d. It's better safe than sorry.
Avatar f tn At this point there are more options for controlling preterm labor, than of your contractions continue and your water breaks. In the meantime, drink lots of water. Dehydration can cause contractions. Empty your bladder frequently, and most of all, take it easy. Lay down as much as possible.
