Avatar n tn Good for you still playing tennis. Glasses should be impact resistant (polycarbenate) It's like playing golf. Some very good golfers and tennis players use mutifocal (lineless) and other just use distance and learn to hit a somewhat out of focus ball.
Avatar n tn i'm wearing a prescription glasses for 10 years , recently i visited the doctor to get a new prescription and it came left 0/2.25/170 .... right 0/2.25/171 .... i bought the glasses and i'm wearing it for 10 days till now , i can see with it very good be it gave a horrible migraine on my left side and my vision tend to get blurry some times so i blink too much ...
Avatar f tn I went to the eye doctor last night and he said my glasses prescription had changed. I asked if it might change again after tx, but he said no, it wasn't related. I really don't want to pay a fortune for new glasses if I will need another new pair next year. Anyone have experience with this?
Avatar n tn Are you wearing prescription glasses? If so.....your astigmatism is being accounted for in the lens. If you're wearing non-prescription glasses bought at the drug store then I would investigate this further. I've read that these do no harm, and I have an astigmatism. I have worn the drug store magnifying glasses for reading since my late 40's....at 61 that's still all I need and nothing for distance.....so it appears they have not harmed my eyes.
Avatar f tn re in the US, then yes, the prescription is yours and you can take it anywhere you want to get glasses. The prescription may not include your PD (Pupillary distance - the distance between your pupils) but if you go to a Wally World Vision Center they can check that for you when you try on some glasses. I would not go online for my 1st attempt at getting glasses.
Avatar f tn Just got new glasses 2 days ago and my prescription changed dramatically due to astigmatism. It had been 7 years since my previous eye exam and I noticed my old glasses were not cutting it anymore for reading clearly. My new prescription is OD +.50, Cyl -.25, Axis 180 - OS +.75, Cyl -1.25, Axis 175 (my previous glasses were +.50 for both eyes with no other adjustments).
Avatar f tn Thin and lighter glasses for your prescription can be definitely made. Using high-index lenses, they can be quite aesthetic and not look like binoculars. If you can support small frames that would also be a benefit. If you are prepared to get them online, then Visions of Canada (http://www.visionsofcanada.com) is one place. There are also other suggested places closer to LA.
Avatar m tn I have recently been prescribed glasses, but not sure of the condition that caused it: Sphere +0.50, Cylinder -0.25, Axis 180. Same for both eyes. Appears to be minor, are these glasses for everyday use or just for reading? The reason I went in for an exam was eye pain, and sensitivity to light. Lights at night appear to have a large glare and like a star. Hoping these glasses will help with that issue, but not sure if that's what they were prescribed for.
Avatar n tn "Does this really work?" It entirely depends on what you mean by "work." If you mean "permanently eliminate your need for glasses", then no. It doesn't work. Corneal molding, or ortho-k, is not permanent. If you mean "give you clear vision without daytime glasses or contacts", then maybe, depending on your prescription and motivation. There are some patients who are not candidates for LASIK that are candidates for Corneal Molding.
Avatar m tn You should be able to see very well without glasses at distance, You have very minimal prescription and just a very small amount of astigmatism.
Avatar n tn There is NO WAY you can tell vision from someone's glasses RX. It's like trying to tell howmuch they weigh by looking at their shoes.
Avatar f tn things close up make my eyes feel more relaxed with glasses on but the glasses sometimes make my eyes feel like they are working harder at a distance but everything is clear near and far with them on. I quit wearing them for about 5 months because I didn't think I needed them and started wearing again all the time about 3 weeks ago because I noticed they made my eyes feel better at night driving.
Avatar f tn How are reading glasses prescribed? After an exam, I'm waiting for my prescription and was told to come in as they have some in stock. My question to the doctor is: how can they have them in stock if the prescription was made specifically for MY eyes?
Avatar m tn For a prescription of -0.75, what is the equivalent of the vision in terms of 20/20. Is it 20/75?
Avatar m tn i currently have new prescription glasses, i've kinda gotten used to them after 6 days but i still get dizzy and disoriented when i take them off. is this normal or are they too strong for me? i also have mild headaches at times, but they have been less since i've gotten new glasses.
280234 tn?1532986249 Hi LPNGirl07, Flossy93 is right in that prescription for glasses in shortsighted people is usually stronger than contact lens prescription, and the difference is bigger for higher degrees of myopia. I just wanted to add that it is, in fact, quite easy to convert the prescription from glasses to contacts and vice versa with some simple arithmetics. The reciprocal value of your contact lens prescription in diopters is the focal distance of your uncorrected eye in meters. In your case, 1 / 3.
Avatar f tn The answer to the original question is: no. The two prescriptions are not close. FYI the All About Vision website has a good page describing the different components of an eyeglass prescription: http://www.allaboutvision.com/eyeglasses/eyeglass-prescription.htm It looks like most of the components of your prescription changed between the first and second prescriptions: 1.
Avatar f tn Is that enough to cause all that? He did diagnose me with strabismus and gave me some glasses with prism ONLY to use while i read.I feel like i should have them all the time?People tell me that my eyes are cross when before no one would ever say anything? I feel like it is getting worse but he won't do anything about it? any suggestions? My old prescription is 8.7/-5.00-1.25x180/14.5 he hasn't wrote me a new prescription since my astigmatism changed?
Avatar m tn One problem I am having is I am having to go between my personal glasses (lower Rx) to safety glasses at work (old higher Rx). Does this sound normal? Could one eye take longer than the other if one was over Rxed more than the other?
Avatar f tn I posted before about how my myopia prescription recently increased quite significantly, and how my doctor said it might have been due to the fact that I didn't wear my glasses all the time for a while(my lens got cracked). Now my new Rx is quit high, -7.5 and -8.5. I have a contacts Rx of -6 in each eye and see 20/20 or better with them, but I can't keep them on all the time because my eyes get very dry.
Avatar n tn thus +0.75 lens could be called reading glasses; computer glasses; music/piano/organ glasses or for some people driving/movie glasses.
Avatar f tn I'm 42 and just got my first pair of glasses. I have astigmatism (I've needed glasses but haven't worn them). My reading vision has been fine. My distance vision has become much worse in the past year or so. A few weeks ago I went to an optometrist who recommended bifocals because of my age. He said I don't quite need them yet but I will soon so why not just get them now (?!?!).
Avatar m tn Hi theyre im from the UK so i hope you can help me Still I have recently had a new Pair of glasses with a slightly different prescription, i was wondering if theyre is a bedding in period for your eyes to adjust to the new prescription as the old prescription was over 3 years old not suffering any headaches or anything just my eyes seem a bit heavy and my long distance is a tad blurred i do suffer from afimagtism (sp?) my prescription is right eye :3.25 0.50 140 V/A 6/9 left eye : 1.25 1.
Avatar n tn Your other eye will not get poorer due to the hitting incident, you must take good care of this left eye like wearing safety glasses for protection against direct eye traumas. Since now much of the vision is coming from left eye you should take proper rest to reduce eye strain. Vision quality from right eye may slightly improve in coming days but will not be comparable with the other eye so it will not be used by your brain for vision.
Avatar m tn You will need to wear glasses even if the good eye does not need a prescription for eye protection. You need to start thinking eye safety and avoiding eye hazardous activities. Sorry I could not be more optimistic.
Avatar n tn Are the lens of isokonic glasses the same grinding procedure as in a slab-off? If not, what is the difference? I have tried the slab-off and they didn't work out......My "second cataract" clouding is progressing......it's become difficult to read the newspaper.....Should I have the yag laser preformed before ordering isokonic glasses (with post surgery prescription?) I assume after yag, I'll return to the same prescription....what are your thoughts?
