Avatar f tn Three days ago I went to a new doctor to get the hormones adjusted and she said she does not prescribe bioidenticals and gave me a prescription for Prempro. I do not want to take this and I told her so. She said she does not believe bioidenticals are any safer than Prempro and if I needed to have an adjustment in my Rx due to break through symptoms of hot flashes and severe brain fog along with zero energy then I needed to try something different than what I had been doing.
Avatar f tn 40 is a little young to start Menopause, but not unheard of, it can happen. I started @ 49, for 1 year, I would bleed for 7 weeks, then it stop, started, did that for a year. I have not had a period for 2 yrs now. I started gaining weight a little weight in my mid section, I also got very depressed. I'm not a depressed type, always happy, not moody. I had to go on Prempro, it took 2 weeks, I was better.
Avatar n tn Hoodia is an appetite suppressant that has not been very well studied. In fact, its efficacy is often questioned. I am not aware of any side-effects of this supplement. Certainly, if you think that there is a temporal relationship between your starting the hoodia and poor blood pressure control you should you could probably assume that the two are somehow related.
Avatar f tn t work hot flashes all day and night..And I looked prempro up and it has a cancer fighting drug in it too. scary. so when I read your blog. I had to wright you and let u know that am going though the same thing. let me know if you find anything that works for you so I can talk to my doctor about it .Thanks for your time..
Avatar n tn Thanks, this was helpful. I'm 69 years old and started on HRT at 48 and have been taking Prempro for most of those 21 years, and still on it. Whenever I've tried to stop I dnn't feel right -- aches and pains -- more tired than usual. 2 year ago I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism, so now on Armor Thyroid as well, but still get very exhausted by the end of the work week. My gynocologist and endocrinologist seem to think all this is fine.
237053 tn?1258828426 Then came the big Prempro crash and controversy. I stayed on it anyway for several more years without insidence then the pedulum swung back and some people have resumed its use again. The main point to me is I am pretty sure hormones have some HUGE part in MS and I so urge the drug companies to try to find out just what part they play! As pregnancy shows, something is being missed!
Avatar f tn I was taking the hormones to help my bones, as I have osteopenia and rheumatoid arthritis. I am on prescription drugs to help the bones (Boniva and calcium and vit. d). I'm worried about breast cancer with continuing the hormones. I had a partial mastectomy on my right breast which was benign. I had a cluster of microcalcifications which looked supicious, but turned out to be benign (big sigh)! Okay now my question.
Avatar f tn The next day, September 18, I abruptly stopped the Prempro and let my doctor know I felt I had been on the Prempro long enough and also due to the breast cysts. So for me it's only been a little over a month since I've stopped the Prempro. I was told I don't need to return for a year. That is amazing your screening showed no cysts after six months. this gives me hope.
Avatar f tn I had Graves Disease and my doctor has me on .1 Synthroid, with annual thyroid blood tests. When my TSH levels drop or rise above the normal range, the doctor adjusts my Synthroid dosage. I also have uncomfortable symptoms when I am not in the normal TSH range. Recently the doctor changed my Prempro dosage from .45/1.5 mg per day to double that amount. Do you think the change in Prempro could change my thyroid levels?
Avatar f tn Have been taking Prempro for 14 yrs. Hot flashes and osteopenia (pre-osteoporosis). Awaiting biopsy results for microcalcifications around or in ducts. Can prempro increase risk of BC, in particular, DCIS?
Avatar n tn It could be the prempro. Ask your doctor about going off of it for a few month and see if that helps. I heard that estrogen can cause congestion along with other medications. I too have non allergic rhinitis but mine is considered Vasomotor rhinitis.k I had this for 6 yrs. but I do not take any medication, just nasal steroid sprays and nasal rinses and it does not do anything. I even had sinus surgery - total ethmoidectomy, opening the ostia of the maxillary sinuses and partial turbinectomy.
Avatar n tn So, yes, I would guess you could have mood swings due to menopause any time after. I am 59 and have been on Prempro for about 7 years and just went off them and my hot flashes now are worse than ever! I have severe insomnia (I take sleeping pills every night and sometimes they don't help!) I have been sleeping with the windows open even when it's getting down into the 30s and 40s at night and that helps a lot.
Avatar f tn It seems more common to prescribe birth control pills than hormone replacement (Prempro) during perimenopause. And a course of progestin seems to be more commonly prescribed to stop prolonged and/or heavy bleeding.
Avatar n tn After 2 days of taking Prempro I decided not for me. I think I need Progesterone and would like to know if others use the cream and what brand. Or any advice appreciated. Thank- you.
Avatar n tn I thought the jury was out once again on whether Prempro (HRT) actually does increase the risk of breast cancer beause the study is believed by some to be flawed. The study was composed of mostly older women, who are at a higher risk. Also, I thought over the counter natural hormone remedies are not regulated by the FDA, thus they dont know if linked to breast cancer. This information might become outdated as I am writing this.
Avatar f tn Good morning and thank you for talking to me! I have exactly all the same situations as you and am so sick of it. I even asked my dr. to give me a hysterectomy and she said it wouldn't change a thing. WOO HOO! I am going with the Prempro and and am double rinsing all my clothes. Using less detergent and fabric softener too. Don't you just love those cotton panties? I've had BV several times and numerous yeast infections due to this thing they call Menopause.
Avatar f tn i know what you mean i had a full historectomy and i about went crazy for 5 yrs so i had no choice but to wise up and do what was best for me mentally and man was i glad i did went through alot depression wanting to just kill someone seeing demonic spirits the whole 9 yrds so from me to you try the patches i cant tell you what kind because im not a dr but i am on estrodol patches and they work wonders i mean that ive gotten my life back other then the weight gain now thats another thing have it
Avatar f tn I just started prempro 4 nights ago, and my hot flashes (and subsequent clod flashed) and night seats have gotten worse, not better. I'm only (almost) 46 and was taking DHEA and Pregnenolone....and they worked well up until a couple of months ago. I up'd the dosage, and it still won't work for me anymore. I really REALLY didn't/don't want to take synthetics, but it all just became too much...nauseous too....want to cry all the time.
Avatar n tn I'm 55 years of age and menopausal. Last week I had an vagibal ultrasound showing endometrial thickness of 18 mm. My ovaries were normal. Just 7 months ago I had a vaginal ultrasound and it was normal with my endometrium 2.9mm. I was on birth control pills at that time and have been taking them for over 10 years. I have no vaginal bleeding or discomfort. I started Prempro last month for a month, but stopped due to symptoms of bloatness and weight gain.
Avatar n tn I have been shedding for months and it is really scary. I have very fine hair and not a lot of it to start with.I have been on low dose PremPro for years and am a little worried about continuing with the breast cancer element but I am afraid to give it up and lose even more hair. I take a good vitamin, I am on thryroid, I eat right and have good lifestyle. I am afraid I will end up pitifully bald. Help?
Avatar f tn I have burning and itching in vaginal area and horrible dry skin that also itches. I have been told to go on Prempro by my Dr. Does it help? I still have a uterus and I am afraid of HRT after all the hype i have heard. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated that worked for all of you that have suffered with this! Thank you!!!
Avatar f tn Not that I really looked forward to having periods but now have to take prempro, Plus I feel it aged me faster too!!! Once had a athletic shape body and now I have gained weight and looks like I have a 70 year old tummy!!!!!! I blame it on the menopause itself since my mother looked awesome even in her 50s. So I have to watch what I eat and am really working on the extra excersise since my metabolism is working slower than it ever did. So I feel for you if you feel the same as I do.
Avatar f tn Oncologist opinion that since I am 62, and have been on Prempro for 11 yrs that HRT may have contributed to LCIS, because although LCIS is found in women my age, it is usually found in younger women. Just finished weaninf off the Prempro. Having sweats and flashes, but not as bad as I thought it would be. I am supposed to start Raloxifene. This may cause hot flashes. If severe enough, dr will rx Effexor to treat flashes.
Avatar n tn I take wellbutrin, prempro and maxide. Will the synthroid be okay to take with these and how long until I feel like myself again. I had the surgery a week ago...
Avatar f tn There are healthy ways to lose weight and that could be discussed in the specific forum but obtaining a nutrionist is best and Weight Watchers good as well but avoid weight loss products. Most are unhealthy or useless. And products with Nutrasweet should be avoided as well as that can worsen depression (as some studies show). Replace all sugared drinks with flavored seltzer water for starters. That worked for me.
Avatar n tn hi there lovely ladies! ok this may seem a bit of a rant, but I am so frustrated! I an 23 and was diagnosed with PCOS 2 years ago, i am on the pill, and was simply told by my doctor, exercise more and eat right (which is a bit suss as you'll see below), i can deal with the dieting, i can deal with the random periods and i can deal with the excess hair (my mums italian so it was kinda on the cards already) but i cannot deal with the weight!
