They were well cared for and in good health. Well, the baby still nurses!! Daughter had them Vet checked when she got them and the Vet said it was unusual but has seen it before. She said the mother will eventually get tired of it. It's been 4 years!!
Avatar m tn I was given a mare with a 10 day old colt. It was sort of a rescue thing. I do not know alot about Mares and babies and where I board has never dealt with it either, She deals mostly with geldings, My Mare has a huge belly. She by no means looks like she just had a baby 10 days ago, Her utter is not full but does seem to have a bit of milk in it. The colt has been eating hay and drinking water since we got him but still tries to nurse.
Avatar f tn The issue with stem cell rescue has little to do with the stem cells, they simply rescue the bone marrow (white cells, red cells and platelets) which would take too long to recover with the large doses of chemotherapy. The issue is likely with the chemotherapy. Certainly, it is well documented that chemotherapy can have long term effects. Chemobrain is becoming better understood and though most people seem to improve within a year or two, for some the fog seems to last longer.
Avatar f tn In response to the pregnant question, my sister in law bought a horse that had not been gelded yet, he was gelded by the vet within 2 weeks of her getting him, but apparently it was 2 weeks to late lol. All of our horses are "fixed" with the exception of mama horse. Am considering when she is fully recovered to see if the vet can fix her so we don't have any more accidents from new horses being bought.
1004300 tn?1251255067 Abby is a 7yr old mare that has lived at the same place her whole life...we brought Abby and left Allie b/c allie is green and won't load....now we can't keep Abby in any kind of fence....she pushed down the insulaters and stepped out of the electric fence.... she knocked down the barbed wire horse stall we built....and the second time she bulldozed her way through a 12ft cow panel put up with barbed staples....
Avatar f tn could anyone explain the reason for my mare suddenly falling over, i was riding her in our manege today, all was well until i started to do canter work. I was working her on the right rein in canter, approaching the corner, when suddenly she fell to the right side. She got back up quickly, shaking the sand off her, but seemed a little dazed. Is this because she is unbalanced, or something else, the sand was dry, due to the fine weather we are having at the moment. Any answers appreciated.
Avatar m tn Feeding time is what he lives for even though he gets out and is not neglected. We also have a mare with him, but she is not the dominant horse... he is. They get alfalfa and grass hay and he gets a Purina supplement. The mare is fat and he is bony. He's never been sick and has always been an easy keeper. Any ideas out there. I'm curious how the other horses in this discussion have done over time.
Avatar f tn She keeps asking me if Im pregnant and doing it to bother me. Shes not doing it to be happy for me. Its coz she wants a reason to gossip and treat it as something over me. Im not even 12weeks yet! What is her freakin problem. Ps. Doesnt help that in emotional.
Avatar f tn This sometimes causes blood clots. Urine is collected while the mare is pregnant, she has the foal, the foal is sent to slaughter. The mare is then again impregnated and the process starts all over again. Pretty disgusting, if you ask me. You can read all about it on the ASPCA sight. They were instrumental in getting some of the Wyeth (the makers) suppliers shut down. Wyeth was actually sued.
Avatar f tn You may be surprised that the foal will come out looking fine, while the mare is emaciated. The other thing to consider is that if the mare does not have adequate nutrition, she will run the risk of not producing milk, then the foal will not be able to nurse and get adequate nutrition.
Avatar f tn nightmares that i wake up with my heart pounding cuz its tht scary of a night mare n i was wondering if that affects the baby??
Avatar n tn and its always me being killed or tortured or something... one time I had a night mare she knew I was pregnant and killed me cause of it n acted like it was a double whammy... but I'm 35 weeks now and I haven't really had any the last month. Hopefully it gets better for you but I researched it when it was happening and I guess its common for pregnant women to have nightmares or night terrors.
Avatar n tn I knew I was pregnant, well my horse knew I was and her reaction to me tipped me off. Have two horses that are so attached to each other that when you remove one to ride or anything the other gets worried. After I was pregnant (before the test) when I would go into the paddock with these two, my mare Angie (have had since I was 9 years old, 24 now) would run over and sniff my stomach and then would stand between me and the other horse Flash my male.
10961740 tn?1419817154 When I found out that my girl was pregnant we wasn't living together, a few weeks later I moved out of state to go live with her, I left everything behind, but now I'm living in NYC and is getting harder to find a job and my baby will be here in 90 day. I'm really going crazy here!!!!!!! My girl is the best and very supportive BUT I need to work so I can enjoy this pregnancy mare. Please pray for me if you believe in God if you don't just wish me good luck.
Avatar f tn I have a horse we bought 2 years ago along with her 2 year old mare. We don't know how old the "Mama" horse is, but she again became pregnant about a year ago. She was fed hay and 16% feed while pregnant and still began to lose her own weight. The baby was born very fat and healthy, now 5 months later, the baby continues to be a chubby one, but the Mama has gone down severely. Her hips and ribs are showing.
Avatar m tn After I accomplished that my mind just gave up and quit the night mare stuff. I may have a night mare or scary dream once a year - not often, and while an old guy now I still have my fears and phobias.

Avatar n tn So what is the likelihood of me being pregnant? Has anyone been pregnant through this way? I will test soon once I come back. Also is there any reasons for my late light period besides pregnancy. Or is this simply an off cycle, if so when will my period be back to normal?
Avatar f tn Every night when I try to sleep I can not stop jolting side to side and saying "no" repedidly as if I were already asleep and having a night mare. Excpet I honestlt don't remember the last time I had a night mare. I just don't get them. But this jolting and saying no almost contimuesly are driving me nuts. I can only imagine if my family hears me. Does anyone know what causes this? Has anyone else had this happen to them?
436837 tn?1293793226 Our rescue dog tends to have ear infections. We have a standing med with the vet..are there hats/ear muffs/ headbands for dogs with this reoccurring problem? The vet said none they knew of..I thought this would help especially in this cold climate. Thanks for any suggestions/ideas/thoughts.
Avatar f tn lowering dose of Riba; blood transfusion, or Procrit. I am not in favor of any of them. Dr believes I need one and he says while he doesn't want any of them either, he believes Procrit would be the best choice for me. I am not yet low enough to qualify for transfusion, and he does not want to lower the Riba because, right now, Gt3 is the hardest to cure AND is limited to only the Sol/Riba.
648439 tn?1225058862 So how do I know if the rescue treatment I am receiving is right? Is it a process of elimination I have to go through. At the moment I am depressed and anxious, starting on Citalopram - if this is not the right AD for me, or if it is really my thyroid, if if I really need an anti anxiety as well. It seems like it could be along drawn out process but as I am not a medical expert, how do I best manage to ensure I am getting the best care and resolving issues in the shortest possible time?
