Pregnancy weight loss after delivery

Common Questions and Answers about Pregnancy weight loss after delivery

Avatar f tn It can take a while, plus you also gain weight in your breasts when breastfeeding too. After delivery your weight can really fluctuate and you can also be retaining water..I wouldn't worry too awful much unless you are having other symptoms (pain, more bleeding than normal, dizziness, etc.). They say to totally lose all your weight, set aside one year for each baby (if it is baby two, then two years).
1344197 tn?1392822771 On the other hand, the study found, women who shed more pounds after childbirth had a lower risk of incontinence six months after giving birth, while weight gain after delivery was linked to an increased risk. Exactly why postpartum weight changes, but not changes during pregnancy, were related to incontinence risk is not clear, according to Wesnes. One possibility, he and his colleagues speculate, is that the type of weight gain matters.
5615074 tn?1378320440 It is normal, it is actually preferred for women who are overweight to go on some type of diet, or lose weight since it can cause pregancy problems or delivery trouble, i hear the doctor i work with tell his patients this all the time.
5692644 tn?1388475914 Do you plan on bfing?? I gained 36lbs during my pregnancy and had lost 18lbs at 12 days after delivery and I'm bfing and I think that has a lot to do with it!
Avatar f tn The weight issue may not be directly related to the thyroid - but untreated hypothryoid will slow weight loss efforts. The key will be the thyroid function and also looking at thyroid antibodies. Most patients are able to discontinue meds after about 6 months - the time we usually continue meds is in women planning another pregnancy who have positive thyroid antibodies.
10165853 tn?1456337437 If youre over weight and not below or at a healthy weight its fine as long as youre eating enough healthy food. I became over weight with my first after him i was 170 then when i got pregnant with my second i gained 26 so after ti had him and lost the normal baby weight i ended up at 176 lbs which is over weight for me.
Avatar f tn You usually can't exercise for about 4-6 weeks after delivery anyway, but even after that, walking, just simple exercises aren't going to affect anything, I'm not sure about the toxins thing, I've never heard of it. Good luck!
Avatar f tn once i became active again i noticed the lbs dropping very quickly. less than 3 weeks after delivery, and im back at my prepregnancy weight(i gained 33lbs while preggo). im wondering how safe this is. on top of it all, i have no appetite. i take my prenatal pills, but im wondering if thats ok for the baby? he had a 2 week check up and he weighed a whole pound more from his weight when he was discharged, so im sure he's eating properly.

Avatar f tn i am deeply sorry you had to go through such a loss, but after that i would wait. having a new pregnancy soon after a loss is very difficult and scary.
Avatar f tn it will level off in a few weeks. congrats on doing such a great job and on the weight loss. by the way, after a couple months the appetite returned and i stopped losing weight. it kinda just leveled off.
279473 tn?1222144363 I got pregnant in October of 2007 and gained 60 pounds throughout my pregnancy. After delivery I immediately took off 35 pounds and felt great because I was almost there. Unfortunately however, I developed Post Partum Depression and started taking meds which made me baloon up 30 pounds in 3 months. This devastated me. I have been trying to eat healthy but as I stated my Post Partum Depression gets the best of me at times.
Avatar f tn I have always struggled with weight loss/gain. Since I had my surgery a year ago, i gain weight from being less active. I think the pain and discomfort from anything always puts stress on the body and some ppl loose weight because of it or some ppl gain weight because of the stress on the body. For me being in pain and not being active as I use to be I gained weight easily. I am really confused with your story. You have tried everything in the book to loose weight.
Avatar n tn It should take about 2 months to get to that dosage but I'm getting kinda excited hearing about the benefit of weight loss especially since it was weight loss pills (metabolife and xenedrine) that caused me to find out that I was epileptic in the first place! The doctor told me that i might get tingling in my fingers and i might feel a little dopy but happy dopy he described it as, so I figure i can deal with that! If I start losing weight at a rapid pace i'll definitely post again!
492921 tn?1321293496 I really didn't think I put that much weight on but I guess I was wrong. It all was at the end I didn't gain any until after 15 weeks. I have a friend who sells Advocare and I talked to her and another woman she knows that used the product while breastfeeding that was my main concern is if I could take it while breastfeeding. I found out that you can and I started a 24 day challenge and I've lost 17 lbs in 22 days so far.
Avatar n tn With my first daughter, i lost 15 of the 32 pounds the first week? I am just wondering what the average weight loss after delivery is? One of the nurse practioners said that 15 lbs was on the high side, so does that also mean i will lose less this time?!?!?!?
349463 tn?1333575176 Hey, I haven't actually weighed myself lol but I did lose my stomache and I'm sure I'm pretty close to my pre-pregnancy weight even though to be honest I don't mind being a little on the curvy side ;) because my husband loves me that way lol! I look at myself in the mirrio and I'm like eww I feel anorexic (sorry if I spelled it wrong) I think I'm too skinny lol and that's wierd cause usually women think they are too big not too little lol.
Avatar n tn I disagree that breastfeeding works....I know it's supposed to, but I breastfed for 8 months and I'm still 20 pounds heavier than when I got pregnant. My daughter is 2 1/2. I have been thin my whole life, never had to watch what I I can't seem to lose anything even though my favorite meal is a salad. I think my body shape completely changed. A friend of mine lost all of her weight adn looks great....she did yoga.
Avatar f tn I would ask your Dr about the hair loss. Someone was telling me just the other day that pregnancy hair loss was was a sign of iron or b12 defeinecy. I don't know if this is true but I guess it is worth asking the Dr.
Avatar n tn If symptoms of giardiasis are minimal, therapy can be withheld until after delivery. If symptoms are bothersome, paromomycin (25 to 35 mg/kg per day PO in three divided doses for seven days) can be used. Paromomycin, a nonabsorbable aminoglycoside, eliminates cysts in only 60 to 70 percent of patients, but it may provide symptomatic relief. If giardiasis in pregnancy is associated with dehydration, malabsorption, or severe symptoms, therapy with metronidazole is warranted.
