Common Questions and Answers about Pregnancy signs for cats

pregnant

Avatar f tn Her daughter has mental retardation. She swears up and down she didn't touch cat poop but you don't know for sure. Cats can carry the feces anywhere in the house by having on their paws. They walk everywhere on counters, pillows, couches. Maybe you don't wipe your table before making food on it. Or there's small pieces on the carpet you walk on.
Avatar f tn Hi All, I read online that it is bad for the baby during pregnancy for the mother to smell cat poop and urine. I searched for this online, however there are few results and not clearly gives answer to my question. Is this true?
Avatar n tn Cats, if infected with toxoplasmosis, only shed the disease for 2 weeks or so in feces during their life time. Since your cats go outside they can become infected at any time (if not already infected). Your veterinarian can diagnosis Toxoplasmosis through a blood test and your cats can be treated for the parasitic disease with Clindamycin antibiotics. Please check the following article from Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine: http://www.vet.cornell.
541150 tn?1306033843 HI, glad that you posted, I was worried about you in Florida with that hurricane that just passed. You alright? Oh, by the way I've never heard of cats having separation anxiety. I though this was a doggy thing. I've heard of them destroying the house, crying, peeing and pooping on everything. I guress it's possible for a cat to suffer from this. My first thought when I read this, was that Abby loves his parents, and doesn't want to be alone.
Avatar f tn I am 17 weeks preggies and have 3 cats.... I have already been tested for Toxoplasmosis and all is clear (my cats are pretty much indoors most of the time except for 1 naughty one who keeps escaping off our balcony and visits all the other neighbourhood cats ;-)... but what is concerning me is that I have already had to de-worm my cats twice since I fell pregnant... and now I feel the obvious symptoms of having picked up their dreaded worms!! YUCK!
Avatar f tn I have three cats and my doc just told me to not clean the litter box. So my husband has to do it even though he hates it lol. Have had cats all my life and never had any problems with them. If you plan on keeping them definitely fix them and think about declawing if you want. Other than that they're easy to take care of. I free feed them so they eat whenever and have toys for them to play with so they don't get bored and a cat tree for them to climb on.
Avatar n tn While she may have a heart murmur and possibly heart disease, I doubt that has anything to do with her behavior towards you other pets. Some cats just don't like other cats (or dogs). This tends to be especially true with cats that have been declawed since they can become more defensive and use other tools (hissing, growling, swatting, etc.) to make up for their lack of normal defenses.
Avatar f tn Cats and dogs sense pregnancy!
Avatar f tn I looked into this when I was pregnant. Cats can get this if they eat any raw meat, not only wildlife...but you're only at risk if you've never had it before as you can only get it once. I had cats all my life...most of them being outdoor cats as I lived in a small town...therefore I'm 99% sure I've had it before and will not get it again now from my completely indoor cats. You can also have your OB/GYN test you for it.
Avatar f tn I've had two cats through my pregnancy (30weeks) and it's fine!
Avatar n tn Hi there...a lot of veterinarians have issues with long term usage of steroids in dogs or cats. There is the possibility that continued use of prednisone can cause overactive adrenal glands resulting in too much cortisol in the body (this is one of the body's natural steroids). Since steroids suppress the immune system, llike zodiacqueen has mentioned, chronic recurrent infections can occur.
1710194 tn?1308931794 chance that we could have round worm from the animals. Does anyone have experience with this? Are there any signs or symptoms I should be looking for? We are going to get tested but I'm currently pregnant and don't want this to cause any problems with the pregnancy. Can someone please help?

Sadly to say she had to be put to sleep because the bill would have been $2000.00 - for starters! So what is this condition called as described above? She can't remember what the vet said. She is devastated, as am I. BTW - her litter will be ok. They were only nursing for naps. Thank you.

We even have a place called the Spay and Neuter Alliance and Clinic (SNAC) where the only thing they do is spay and neuter. They even pick up and drop off in certain areas. Do a little research, and you might have something similar where you live. Good luck!
Avatar f tn I personally agree with opus88, anyways no its not contageous in anyway , cats are territorial animals they fight with other cats to protect their territory or to acquire more territory. As a result, bite wounds are common in cats, especially when cats are allowed outside. These wounds frequently result in an infection that can be quite debilitating, especially if left untreated. Bite wounds are more common in male cats than in females.
Avatar f tn I did hear of a cat that was spayed poorly at a clinic and later came into heat, and when a new vet did a follow-up surgery, she found an ovary that the first vet had left behind. So strange things can happen. I would take kitty to the vet's and ask if there is a possibility of a kitten in there, or if not, what is going on.
Avatar f tn Hi everyone!!, my husband and I have been trying for our first for the last 4 months. In Dec I was due for my period on the 20th an thought I got it, although it lt lasted only 3 days and was never heavy enough for a tampon. Im currently having right side cramping (under rib area), VERY sore breasts, headache (dull throb 24/7... worse at night), a constant feeling of nausea and a very light colored discharge all along with runny nose (suddenly).
Avatar f tn I personally would keep the cat in and get a box. The biggest cause for the bacteria is from cats that go outside. Indoor cats sometimes don't even carry the bacteria. If you do get scratched then wash immediately with soap and water. People can be immune to it and you can get it from lots of other things not just cats.
5745288 tn?1373476059 I cannot bring myself to continue to give my kitty something I know is making him feel sick, but I am afraid to stop using the drug and have Fluffy suffer a clot. I have done some research, and have seen a lot of talk of turmeric as being safe for cats, and also having natural blood thinning properties. Is this true? If so, what is the appropriate dosage of turmeric to be giving a cat, and can turmeric from the shelves of a grocery store be used, or should it come from a different source?
