Common Questions and Answers about Pregabalin information

lyrica

Avatar n tn I read about it and it appears it is not an SSRI. Did you have a specific reason for going on Lyrica?
Avatar m tn This is true of gabapentin and pregabalin which were originally invented for seizures. Pregabalin is similar to gabapentin but has less side effects and often people who can not tolerate gabapentin benefit from pregabalin. However it is more expensive. The same is true for medications such as amitryptiline, which was originally used for depression but is now a mainstay of treatment for neuropathic pain. However, it has several side effects and may not be used in patients with heart problems.
Avatar f tn s an opiate or not. I have not looked into this but I will. If I discover information that indicates you may develop a tolerance I will re-post on your thread. I hope you will be able to control your pain soon. Please keep us updated and let us know how you are doing.
1218873 tn?1300091216 Anyway just before we went, I had an dr. appointment. In short he is changing the Gabapentin to Pregabalin which he is asking my GP to over see when I'd returned from holiday. Also did a blood test for sarcoid, as I have had eye problems, he felt this was unlikley but wanted the test done. If that is negative he is refering me to a specialist for botox which will help the TN pain. So I have returned to find a letter from my GP to go and see him as soon as I return from holiday.
Avatar n tn I saw a rheumatologist, he diagnosed it as post-traumatic arthralgia and gave me Voltral(diclofenac) and Zeegap(pregabalin) for 2 weeks. I want to know its reversal ttime and precautions to prevent it from aggrevate.
Avatar f tn Prozac (fluoxetine) and Lyrica (pregabalin) (Moderate Drug-Drug) MONITOR: Central nervous system- and/or respiratory-depressant effects may be additively or synergistically increased in patients taking multiple drugs that cause these effects, especially in elderly or debilitated patients. MANAGEMENT: During concomitant use of these drugs, patients should be monitored for potentially excessive or prolonged CNS and respiratory depression.
Avatar n tn my daughter has had 2 surgeries for pituiatry tumour, radiotherapy, she still has remnant tumour, (Acromegaly) but also has facial ear and neck pain, which prof says is because tumour is pressing on trigeminal nerve, tried amytrplin, never worked, 3 weeks ago prof put her on Pregabalin, small dose then up to 300 a day, within a few days of upping the dose, she has been in more pain than ever, crying, agitated, and said she thought she had pain before, but now this is unbearable, they have told
Avatar m tn Other drugs like gabapentin, pregabalin, amitryptline, carbamazepine are also effective and are relatively safe as compared to nortryptline. For more information visit http://www.drugs.com/nortriptyline.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nortriptyline http://www.patient.co.

Avatar n tn I am happy to address the issues that you pose, although it is important that you recognize that my impression is based entirely on the information you have provided in your posting and is by no means a replacement for an office visit with a neurologist. Diagnosis is contingent on detailed history and physical exam and as such, the following information should be considered solely for educational purposes.

Avatar f tn Examination by a phisio, orthopedic surgeon and podiatrist have not been able to help. I have been prescibed various drugs including baclofen and pregabalin but still no joy. Anyone have a similar experience and information would be appreciated.
Avatar m tn I'm 21 and male. I was having arm pains which was caused by neck pain for bad posture on computer desk. So I went to the GP (general medicine) and he said the pain is for the neck, and it will go away and asked me to do some static neck exercise and swimming and prescribed 'Pregabalin m-75' to take for 1 month and stop.
1218873 tn?1300091216 Hi i wondered if anyone could explain there experience of Pregabalin (Lyrica?) i have been on Gabapentin for the last 3 months with only a little success (the twitches have reduced considerably) but no relief pain. Now the Dr is going to swap me to Pregabalin which has to be done slowly to switch from one to the other, so this will start as soon as I'm home from holiday. I wondered if anyone had done this and what there experience of the drugs are?
Avatar m tn no it is not arthritis.....my question is....what will happen if she combines the methadone and the pregabalin?...she takes methadone about every other day...a bottle of 130mg methadone will last her almost 5 to 6 days....any info would be helpful.

901222 tn?1399142874 Lyrica (pregabalin) is a GABA analogue, similar to Neurontin (gabapentin). Even though pregabalin is approved for The results are still out on whether or not people suffer neurological dependance on this medication. People using high doses of pregabalin (> 1000 mg/day) report problems stopping this medication. My attitude about certain reported side-effects, like weight gain, is that I'll never know what they'll do to me until I try.
Avatar f tn Your pharmacist can be a really good source of information. Do you have a good one? I have no idea about Lyrica and birth defects, but you should be able to find something online or through your pharmacist. Sorry about the rude psychiatrist insisting on taking away your vicodin. Doctors really like to do that for some reason, even if you maintain a low daily dose. I don't get that. That was the first thing my doctor did post-surgery. Are you considering surgery at all?
139792 tn?1498585650 Thanks for all the information. Apart from research, if we get information from the user it does help to develop confidence. I will use the drug if the tightness develops into pain. If your inclination is toward holistic therapy, you may just try EFT. I have used it for insomnia. It did not help or I did not do enough and proper EFT. Someone did recommend again giving some extra precaution, I may try again. I will also visit Pain community.
3122908 tn?1342154651 I can guarantee not only will your pain come back, but you will so miserable! I take its cousin, pregabalin, for nerve pain in my back, and occasionally I run low on them and you would not believe how many aches and pains a person really has until they quit a drug to help all that. It is a fairly mild drug, however, so it's not like you won't be able to function, you just won't be a happy camper.
983008 tn?1329925830 t spoken to my Dr yet as the surgery has been shut over Xmas and I did expect evrything to calm down since increasing the Pregabalin, am currently visiting my lovely stepdaughter for a few days (sitting with my feet up and playing with her laptop) I am seeing my neuro in a few weeks but am wondering if I should visit my Dr again as at this rate I doubt I will be back to work next week - the Hospital did mention putting me on a steroid drip and then changed their minds - is this the way forward?
Avatar f tn Welcome Mudgett to the Pain Management Forum of MedHelp. I am glad that you have found us but sorry you are having pain. I am sorry I do not know how effective the drugs will work in combination for controlling your pain. I do know that they are considered effective in their own right.
Avatar f tn I have recently seen my Neurologist, who has confirmed I am suffering with Anxiety and has suggested I go on a drug called Pregabalin and he has said it will help my sleep problem. My question is has anyone had any experiences with this drug, if so comments very welcome.
