681148 tn?1437661591 I was hospitalized myself for the first time ever with renal failure back in September. To this day the nephrologist hasn't been able to figure out what the cause of the renal failure was or why the kidneys are only almost back to normal, but won't quite get to normal. I also have Oral Allergy Syndrome, GERD/IBS, Celiac, MCS and asthma and possibly CFS/FMS. I've been reading some information about hursutism and its connection to the cortisol produced by the adrenal glands.
Avatar n tn Renal failure may be either chronic or acute. Chronic Renal Failure (CRF) is a progressive, irreversible deterioration of kidney function. Because cats hide their illnesses and the very early signs of CRF are subtle, this disease may only be recognized when the patient reaches the 70% deterioration level and more dramatic symptoms are observable. The seemingly sudden onset may appear to be an acute condition but is most often a crisis point of CRF.
Avatar n tn My cat, Miss Kitty has just died from renal failure. We did not notice any symptoms except weight loss and as she was about 14,, we attributed this to being older. She was still active and eating, until one Friday night when she collapsed. We took her to an excellent vet who gave her aggressive treatment over a period of weeks, including IV fluids, saline, blood supplements, phosphorus blocker, CCRF supplements, KD cat food, and we also gave her Astro Oil.
Avatar m tn I have 2 twin jack Russell terriers. today I was told one of them has renal failure. vet wanted to eutho him then and there. was totally unprepared. I brought him back home cause I can't afford the costs for an attempt to save him, which I know there is zero salvation. my question is this. 1047522 tn?1258145704 Transplant is already listed as a treatment option on the Kidney Tracker. You have removed it from your tracker through customized settings. We'll add all the other ones you've requested to the Kidney Tracker and let you know when they're available.
Avatar m tn Renal anomalies could be responsible for decreased or deranged renal function and may lead to renal failure. One working kidney is enough for normal functions of the body. It would be difficult to comment if your other symptoms could be related. I would suggest discussing the situation and the suggested management plan in detail with your treating nephrologist. Hope this is helpful. Take care!
Avatar f tn The throwing up became very bad so I took him to a different vet that after a urine test was able to establish Teddy was in 75% kidney failure. Some Medication was given but he has become increasing worse. Vet suggested an IV Solutuion but after researching it on the internet decided my little guy's quality of life and his always wanting to please is not fair to him. To prolong the inevitable for something that may not work is not fair to him or me.
512560 tn?1222560127 Chronic renal failure is a gradual and progressive loss of the ability of the kidneys to excrete wastes, concentrate urine, and conserve electrolytes.Alternative names are Kidney failure - chronic; Renal failure - chronic; Chronic renal insufficiency; CRF; Chronic kidney failure. It most often results from any disease that causes gradual loss of kidney function. It can range from mild dysfunction to severe kidney failure . Progression may continue to end-stage renal disease.
Avatar n tn I am a 70 year old man and I was admitted into the hospital March 28 because I was in renal failure. At that time my BUNN was 123, Creatinine 5.98 and GFR 8. Meanwhile as you can see from results below, it wasn't the only this wrong. They said it was acute renal failure and I should just be patient for numbers to get better. Here are all of my results now and not one doctor can give me answers as to why this is all happening .
Avatar m tn Profound reduction of cardiac output and arterial hypotension in severe heart failure may lead to acute renal failure. Control of high blood pressure and blood volume (diuretic) can preserve your left ventricle function.
Avatar f tn Well, we went back to the vet yesterday. He said Sadie's lungs sounded good - fluid seems to be gone. She is still retaining fluid in her tummy though - not as much, but it is still evident. We are to continue the lasix and the Dr. also put her on special food - Iam's Veterinarian Renal Formula. He said that should help and he will do blood work in two weeks. Hmm.... I am wondering why he didn't just do the blood work yesterday?
Avatar m tn has he been diagnosed with renal failure or are you just going by some of the symptoms? what are you feeding, have you tried a variety of different foods...especially wet/canned food that has a good source of protien and no grains? he really needs to see a Vet to get some blood work done if he hasn't already, there could be other reasons for his symptoms. the Vet can give some medication to help with the nausea and acid...that could also help his appetite..
963889 tn?1359677334 Renal cortical thinning is usually indicative of chronic renal failure as opposed to acute renal failure. The high white cell count and increased counts in the urine indicate an infection. So, to sum up the results show findings of chronic renal failure with hypoalbuminemia and probably an infection. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn To differentiate CRF from acute renal failure (ARF) abdominal ultrasound is commonly performed, in which the size of the kidneys are measured. Kidneys with CRF are usually smaller (< 9 cm) than normal kidneys with notable exceptions such as in diabetic nephropathy and polycystic kidney disease.
Avatar f tn Polycystic kidney invovles highblood pressure, aneurysms, and eventually kidney failure. Go see a nephrologist that specializes in the kidney.
1531001 tn?1292034237 If your Yorkie is in chronic renal failure she will require nursing care at home and may have to have in-hospital fluid therapy every now and then. Several days to up to 10 days of in-hospital fluid therapy and other care is often very helpful for those with chronic renal failure. It is the doggie equivalent of human diuresis. If the creatinine and urea nitrogen levels do not become decrease following the in-hospital fluid therapy the prognosis may be poor.
Avatar n tn It is possible to have acute renal failure and still have normal-sized kidneys. Renal atrophy may result from chronic renal disease or infection, as well as other conditions such as narrowing of renal arteries or obstruction of urinary tract.
3093770 tn?1389739126 As of 9/1/2011 the only known risk of NSF is in patients with renal failure in pre and post liver transplant patients. For us pre-transplant patients they measure our creatinine before each MRI to make sure our kidneys are functioning well enough before we receive an MRI with Gadolinium. For us with liver cancer it is critical that out cancer is monitored every 3 months with MRI and contrast as that is the best way to diagnosis hepatocellular carcinoma tumors.
Avatar f tn I have a 14 year old Maine Coon in kidney failure, Bun 85 creatinine 4.5 and is anemic. He was on IV for 3 days and is on 150 mls SQ fluids and B12 daily for 5 days. He is on mirazapine for appetite, darbepoetin for anemia, renal essentials, vit c and grizzly salmon oil. Would he benefit from azodyl caps and is there anything else I should do or take away. He going okay, but I feel he is on the decline.
Avatar n tn bladder neoplasm (abnormal growth), urinary tract inection, glomerulonephritis (inflamation in the glomerul part of the kidney), obstructive uropathy, pancreatits, papillary necrosis and cortical necrosis (have no idea what this is), perirenal abscess, polycystic kidney disease, pyelonephritis, renal infraction, renal neoplasm, renal trauma, and renal vein thrombosis.
