983008 tn?1329925830 t spoken to my Dr yet as the surgery has been shut over Xmas and I did expect evrything to calm down since increasing the Pregabalin, am currently visiting my lovely stepdaughter for a few days (sitting with my feet up and playing with her laptop) I am seeing my neuro in a few weeks but am wondering if I should visit my Dr again as at this rate I doubt I will be back to work next week - the Hospital did mention putting me on a steroid drip and then changed their minds - is this the way forward?
983008 tn?1329925830 This is exactly what the neurologist is waiting for and he should see you when the symptoms are most active. The pregabalin is just a med for quieting nerve pain and paresthesias. Waiting for it to be more effective has nothing to do with telling the consultant that you are having a new wave of symptoms. Please urge your GP to try to hurry up the appointment.
Avatar f tn #1 - Ms should not make a difference for your cycle. MS is a central nervous system Menstruation is part of the reproductive system. But we do know that stress (see #2) can affect the timing of cycles, so go figure! :-) #2 - Stress is the wild card with MS - although most scientific literature will say that stress does not technically affect symptoms, almost 100% of MS patients will tell you differently. My guess is that stress short circuits our hard wiring ....
634733 tn?1316625992 I have heard that Lyrica actually worse that Gabapentin for the weight gain. I have gained a bit on the gabapentin too, but my mother was on Lyric and gained 30 lbs. in a VERY short time. you might want to reconsider it. I donèt know if it is a body type and condition that causes the weight gain, but I have heard it alot from people on Lyrica. Just check it out Pat, and see what your Dr.
983008 tn?1329925830 I think you just have to think positive for now that you might have an MS diagnosis in January or even more tests and that MS is a tricky naughty disease and will give you highs and lows. I am sure you will be fine JUST REST OK. Boring I know but I have become a past master of it LOL.
Avatar n tn Thanks for advice,I saw rheumatologist last year,he x rayed my spine & did blood test,he said I had 6points out of the 18 for fibromyalgia,he put me on pregabalin & told me that my GP would increase it gradually, after my pain hadnt responded too much to the low dosage,my GP decided to change to gabapentin because he said pregabalin is expensive. I had a MRI 7 years ago on my neck as I have cervical spondylosis.
634733 tn?1316625992 Previous to speaking to the him I had been chatting with my MS nurse and we had decided that I would try Pregabalin as Gabapentin had not suited me particularly well in that I gained over a stone in a very short time, and believe me I can't afford to do that! She went off to talk to him and he came back in for a chat and that's when he told me that he thought that it was more likely a faint, although he could not explain the issues that I had following it.

1039200 tn?1314912008 Has anyone heard of Pregabalin (lyrica) for bipolar or anxiety? - my doctor wants me to try, but I have not heard about it before and would like to know if anyone here has tried it or knows anyone who has. Is it used as a mood stabiliser? - I can't find it on the web site ILADVOCATE recomended me a long time ago, does this mean it's not a mood stabiliser or just a new brand?
Avatar m tn I have recently started taking pregabalin for GAD and I can honestly tell that it is a miracle drug for me. It has been a week now since I have started taking 50mg pragabalin after meal. All of my GAD symptoms have gone. I don't feel severe anxiety, constant restlessness (akathesia), social anxiety, muscle tension, depression, panic attack e.t.c. Before that I was taking Zoloft, Paxil, Wellbutrin for sexual side effects, Inderrall for heart palpitation and muscle relaxants everyday.
Avatar m tn Also my problem is mainly GAD and mild depression has come with it. Currenlty, I am taking pregabalin for GAD. Wonder drug for me. I am little concerned with it side effects such as infertility and birth defects. Apart from that I am very happy with this med.
Avatar f tn Hello, I was diagnosed with MS 24 years ago. More recently I was told my MS is "primary progressive". I feel terrible, but look very well. Most people would not guess I have MS. I recently had an appointment with a consultant for my roughly every 3 years check up. In his letter (which arrived this morning) he listed the symptoms I described, but then added that the only physical finding was "increases reflexes in the lower limbs".
Avatar m tn Other drugs like gabapentin, pregabalin, amitryptline, carbamazepine are also effective and are relatively safe as compared to nortryptline. For more information visit http://www.drugs.com/nortriptyline.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nortriptyline http://www.patient.co.
Avatar n tn Regimen for traumatic trigeminal nerve injury: Nutritional supplements: VitaminB1,B6,B12, folic acid, and omega3 fatty acid.you can take more than recommended dose. Medications: Amitriptyline/nortriptyline,gabapentin/pregabalin,minocycline, and dexamethathone. Seeing a neurologist or Orofacial pain specialist who is familiar with management of nerve injury is advised.
Avatar f tn Because many drugs are excreted in human milk, and because of the potential for tumorigenicity shown for pregabalin in animal studies, decide whether to discontinue nursing or to discontinue the drug, taking into account the importance of the drug to the mother. Pediatric Use The safety and efficacy of pregabalin in pediatric patients have not been established.
1253197 tn?1331209110 This is a very minor symptom but I ahve been experiencing an itchy head for a few weeks now and cannot work out if it is MS related or something else. I have not changed my shampoo recently or medication so just wondered if anyone had any suggestions or thoughts. Has anyone else ever had an itchy head? I know that many have had itchiness in other places related to MS.

Avatar f tn I have been taking Lyrica for over 15 years. It helped with chronic and diabetic nerve pain. I have gone from 500 a day down to 200 a day. I cannot sleep at night, gained weight and have severe itching and may have suicide ideology. If there is another drug you can take, take it.
