lyrica

Avatar f tn I have been suffering with headaches/cheek & jaw ache & ear ache for over 2 months - head pain being worst to cope with. History - Have allergies to dustmites, cats etc. Am under care of allergist and take nasal sprays/antihistimines. My headaches began at work following building work/high dust levels in the office. My doctor has treated me with 4 rounds antibitoics/ 3 week steroids/painkillers - treated as severe sinusitus. Had MRI done & results clear. Both puzzled.
634733 tn?1316625992 I have heard that Lyrica actually worse that Gabapentin for the weight gain. I have gained a bit on the gabapentin too, but my mother was on Lyric and gained 30 lbs. in a VERY short time. you might want to reconsider it. I donèt know if it is a body type and condition that causes the weight gain, but I have heard it alot from people on Lyrica. Just check it out Pat, and see what your Dr.
3122908 tn?1342154651 I can guarantee not only will your pain come back, but you will so miserable! I take its cousin, pregabalin, for nerve pain in my back, and occasionally I run low on them and you would not believe how many aches and pains a person really has until they quit a drug to help all that. It is a fairly mild drug, however, so it's not like you won't be able to function, you just won't be a happy camper.
1039200 tn?1314912008 Has anyone heard of Pregabalin (lyrica) for bipolar or anxiety? - my doctor wants me to try, but I have not heard about it before and would like to know if anyone here has tried it or knows anyone who has. Is it used as a mood stabiliser? - I can't find it on the web site ILADVOCATE recomended me a long time ago, does this mean it's not a mood stabiliser or just a new brand?
Avatar m tn I have recently started taking pregabalin for GAD and I can honestly tell that it is a miracle drug for me. It has been a week now since I have started taking 50mg pragabalin after meal. All of my GAD symptoms have gone. I don't feel severe anxiety, constant restlessness (akathesia), social anxiety, muscle tension, depression, panic attack e.t.c. Before that I was taking Zoloft, Paxil, Wellbutrin for sexual side effects, Inderrall for heart palpitation and muscle relaxants everyday.
Avatar m tn Also my problem is mainly GAD and mild depression has come with it. Currenlty, I am taking pregabalin for GAD. Wonder drug for me. I am little concerned with it side effects such as infertility and birth defects. Apart from that I am very happy with this med.
Avatar m tn Other drugs like gabapentin, pregabalin, amitryptline, carbamazepine are also effective and are relatively safe as compared to nortryptline. For more information visit http://www.drugs.com/nortriptyline.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nortriptyline http://www.patient.co.

Avatar n tn Thanks for advice,I saw rheumatologist last year,he x rayed my spine & did blood test,he said I had 6points out of the 18 for fibromyalgia,he put me on pregabalin & told me that my GP would increase it gradually, after my pain hadnt responded too much to the low dosage,my GP decided to change to gabapentin because he said pregabalin is expensive. I had a MRI 7 years ago on my neck as I have cervical spondylosis.
Avatar f tn Because many drugs are excreted in human milk, and because of the potential for tumorigenicity shown for pregabalin in animal studies, decide whether to discontinue nursing or to discontinue the drug, taking into account the importance of the drug to the mother. Pediatric Use The safety and efficacy of pregabalin in pediatric patients have not been established.

Avatar m tn The only anti anxiety medication iv been on is pregabalin, was on it for over a year but it didnt really agree with me.im currently taking fluxoteine 20mg x 2 a day and cinerazine.Im looking for a anti anxiety drug to help stop this dizziness that iv had for over 2 years,im not looking for a "fix" but something to help me while i battle this anxiety and agoraphobia.Have you ever been on buspar?
983008 tn?1329925830 This is exactly what the neurologist is waiting for and he should see you when the symptoms are most active. The pregabalin is just a med for quieting nerve pain and paresthesias. Waiting for it to be more effective has nothing to do with telling the consultant that you are having a new wave of symptoms. Please urge your GP to try to hurry up the appointment.
Avatar f tn Gabapentin was addictive, caused confusion and lack of sentience, loss of mental functioning, anger, and headaches. It did absolutely positively nothing for the pain. I can only say this experience was anecdotal. I eventually ended up with a pain specialist, who straightened the issue out.
Avatar f tn I have been taking Lyrica for over 15 years. It helped with chronic and diabetic nerve pain. I have gone from 500 a day down to 200 a day. I cannot sleep at night, gained weight and have severe itching and may have suicide ideology. If there is another drug you can take, take it.
1664023 tn?1302961166 I have recently started taking Lyrica for Diabetic Neuropathy, I am on 300mg/day. I am wondering if anyone else that takes this experiences stiff joints or achy muscles??
Avatar n tn Thank you so much for your reply! I wasn't expecting trigeminal neuralgia because everything I read describes excruciating sharp pain that comes and goes, my pain is not like that....it is always there just in varying degrees of severity along with neck pain and stiffness could trigeminal neuralgia present like that?
Avatar f tn Gabapentin is a good drug for some things, and not for others. General side affects are things like headaches, stomach pain, dizziness, dry mouth, sleepiness---the normal things that can happen when you go on any drug. Most of the time, gabapentin doesn't have extreme ill affects on anyone unless you skip a dose. I do know of people who say the drug can be addicted in high doses. Considering that you're just starting the medication, I wouldn't guess you'll be on a high dose.
Avatar m tn I have been having occipital headaches for about a week. it just comes and goes in a second and then repeats itself after few seconds/minutes. sometimes the spells are longer with frequency every few seconds. then it goes off on its own. i have been prescribed neck rest with soft collar and neuro medicines like pregabalin. i should admit that today is the 3rd day of medication and pain came back after almost 2 days. i am guessing that the frequency is going down.
901222 tn?1399142874 Lyrica (pregabalin) is a GABA analogue, similar to Neurontin (gabapentin). Even though pregabalin is approved for The results are still out on whether or not people suffer neurological dependance on this medication. People using high doses of pregabalin (> 1000 mg/day) report problems stopping this medication. My attitude about certain reported side-effects, like weight gain, is that I'll never know what they'll do to me until I try.
Avatar m tn I was finally diagnosed with the condition after 2 years of trying various prescription topical creams (Elidel, Pramascone, Steroid Creams, Anti-fungals etc.) and oral medications (Pregabalin, Gabapentin, etc.) Is there any procedure I must have done to confirm my condition? Is there any particular specialist besides a dermatologist who would treat this condition? I have been to several dermatologists and most are clueless of the condition.
