Avatar f tn Hi there, There has been no direct link found between rheumatoid arthritis and fibromyalgia. Both are relatively common so a person can have both conditions. There have been increased incidences of fibromyalgia among people suffering from rheumatoid arthritis. Having rheumatoid arthritis can be considered as a risk factor for fibromyalgia. A lack of vitamin D is associated with higher risk of rheumatoid arthritis.

Avatar f tn I have recently seen my Neurologist, who has confirmed I am suffering with Anxiety and has suggested I go on a drug called Pregabalin and he has said it will help my sleep problem. My question is has anyone had any experiences with this drug, if so comments very welcome.
Avatar m tn Pregabalin is known as Lyrica in the States and is prescribed primarily to relieve neuropathic pain if you have diabetes or in the area of your rash if you have had shingles. It is also used to treat fibromyalgia. Pregabalin is used with other medications to treat certain types of seizures in people with epilepsy. Pregabalin is in a class of medications called anticonvulsants. It works by decreasing the number of pain signals that are sent out by damaged nerves in the body.
Avatar n tn Could you please let me know if it is safe for her to take lyrica for her fibromyalgia !!! Thank you so much for your time in this matter !!!
Avatar n tn so the thumb twitching could be due to fibromyalgia or a tremor as a result of pregabalin. Consult a neurologist for detailed workup on the cause of this thumb symptom since it is also causing so much of anxiety. Take care.
Avatar n tn Thanks for advice,I saw rheumatologist last year,he x rayed my spine & did blood test,he said I had 6points out of the 18 for fibromyalgia,he put me on pregabalin & told me that my GP would increase it gradually, after my pain hadnt responded too much to the low dosage,my GP decided to change to gabapentin because he said pregabalin is expensive. I had a MRI 7 years ago on my neck as I have cervical spondylosis.

Is it used as a mood stabiliser? - I can't find it on the web site ILADVOCATE recomended me a long time ago, does this mean it's not a mood stabiliser or just a new brand?

10354469 tn?1409533617 but it feels like i need to run them under cold water or i have to hold a cold water bottle and same thing with my feet. Is this part of fibromyalgia or is it something else? Any one else have this happen to them?
901222 tn?1399142874 I was in the same boat and I don't know if this will work for you but it did for me. I got on lyrica 100mg. It's non narcotic and helps withdrawal. I think it's actually for fibromyalgia or nerve pain not really sure but I got shot in the face and jumped a year later and they hit me in the jaw with a sledge hammer and it works good for me.
Avatar f tn Xanax), are Buspar (buspirone) or another one that is fairly new is Lyrica (pregabalin). These do take time to work (several weeks) so they need to be taken on a regular basis. Maybe your doctor will feel more comfortable prescribing one of those. Increasing your dose of Savella will not help with anxiety. It is more for depression and fibromyalgia.

Treatment is only limited and directed to symptomatic relief.
Avatar f tn In 2007, the Food and Drug Administration approved Pregabalin (Lyrica) as the first drug for the treatment of fibromyalgia. In June 2008, a second drug, Cymbalta, which was previously approved for treating depression, was FDA approved for treating fibromyalgia as well. In 2009 the FDA approved milnacipran (Savella) for the treatment of fibromyalgia. Perhaps mention these to your doctor at next visit. Best wishes!
2107676 tn?1388973859 I am back on Effexor (which was hell to taper off of), and pregabalin and fighting hard not to take too much pregabalin to ease the withdrawals. Luckily I have been sleeping quite a bit but I'm awake now and feeling like hell. It just seems like I have been through a year of fighting not to go through this hell and here I end up again.
Avatar n tn The demorol (75cc) and toredol (60 cc) shot on Thursday night did nothing to help the pain so I was given Anatriptoban (sp?), and was already on pregabalin/lyrica. It helped enough that I managed to sleep. Not to get you lost, so heres a summary. Monday - pain in hands progressed to other joints, nighttime intense pain in hands and feet, ER gave Toredol, 2 hours later, same problem, ER gave Demorol. Tuesday - blood tests, showed nothing. Doc figures Viral or Neurological.
