Avatar m tn However, if you are not responding to pain medications (that is the neuropathic pain medications), you may benefit to a chronic pain management specialist who works with physical therapists and psychologists to treat the pain. Have you had your back imaged with MRI since the surgery to ensure there are no other postoperative complications, such as a cyst, that could be causing the pain? I suggest you discuss your condition with the operating physician.
634733 tn?1316625992 I have severe (grade 4) arthritis in my knees and any weight gain of any kind has a really bad effect on my pain and mobility - AND I have just lost that stone it has taken me since May last year :( I have also had some very nasty side effects to many meds over the years and have a list of allergies to drugs as long as my arm. This makes me very, very wary.

4760166 tn?1398357313 I have had 25 or 26 surgeries in my 30 years. Eye, heart, brain, shunts, shunt revisions/replacements ... this past Wednesday I had my VP shunt valve replaced because it was clogged. I have had issues with morphine not working after surgeries since I was a kid. I always tell the anesthesiologists and nurses that MORPHINE doesn't work. I am always reassured that my pain will be managed, don't worry, we will take care of you. So I woke up in PACU in a lot of pain.
Avatar n tn I had emergency gallbladder surgery in April 2007 after my gangrene gallbladder ruptured. Following the surgery, (now a year-and-a-half later) I still have constant, daily pain in the same area, at times pretty severe. I went to my PCP, he took an x-ray and the area where the gall bladder was had so many internal staples, it looked like a honeycomb. I also have a lump on my side in that area that hurts.
1253197 tn?1331209110 I was on 1800mg a day and put on a stone over 4 months! I have now swapped to pregabalin and I am beginning to lose the weight. 901222 tn?1399142874 I struggle with a severe form of spinal arthritis. My doctors encourage me to medicate. I don't like to. I tend to slip in and out of dependency according to pain levels and depression about it. I stay far away from oxy and morphine because they are very difficult for people to quit. Vicodin makes me sluggish and sad. I lose connections and sulk in my bed. I just stopped all about a week ago. Feeling a bit better. Still depressed with another RF medical procedure looming. I'm worried.
Avatar m tn I had 2 seperate cervical disc surgeries with a fusion done about 25 years ago and another about 4 years ago.Recently I had terrible pain and they put me in hospital did MRI and said that the disc were degenterive and Broken down.I did not really understand the results but I just did what they said and followed up with my primary doc. Avatar f tn I am currently 4 weeks post-op and have severe Left buttock and hip pain, it feels like it is burning and even the skin is quite sensitive. I have pain in my back too, but I expect that. Pre-op I was told of the back pain, but not the butt, hip pain. I move slowly from bed to recliner and back again. I am taking percocet every 4 hrs along with either a flexoril or valium. So much pain! Has anyone else experienced this post-op? How long should this pain last?

Avatar m tn I had a Subcutaneous Transposition. I am still experiencing pain around an 8 on stretching my arm. And certain stretches really provoke my nerve. At this point I can only lift 1 pound. Also my grip strength is 11 pounds. I can't even drive. Should I be worried about this? When can I expect a recovery back to ice hockey? The doctor says full recovery from surgery is 12 weeks. I am having a hard time believing this right now with all my difficulties. Also I am really aggressive on my therapy.
2107676 tn?1388973859 I am back on Effexor (which was hell to taper off of), and pregabalin and fighting hard not to take too much pregabalin to ease the withdrawals. Luckily I have been sleeping quite a bit but I'm awake now and feeling like hell. It just seems like I have been through a year of fighting not to go through this hell and here I end up again.
Avatar f tn However, whilst it was amazing for about three weeks, within days of increasing from 225mg a day to 300mg I lost control of my bladder three times in a week, then started to experience pain and soreness in the tendons of my feet, then my elbows, and two weeks ago (when I stopped talking it) my pinky and ring fingers on one hand have gone almost completely numb.
Avatar m tn Pregabalin is known as Lyrica in the States and is prescribed primarily to relieve neuropathic pain if you have diabetes or in the area of your rash if you have had shingles. It is also used to treat fibromyalgia. Pregabalin is used with other medications to treat certain types of seizures in people with epilepsy. Pregabalin is in a class of medications called anticonvulsants. It works by decreasing the number of pain signals that are sent out by damaged nerves in the body.
Avatar m tn I'm 21 and male. I was having arm pains which was caused by neck pain for bad posture on computer desk. So I went to the GP (general medicine) and he said the pain is for the neck, and it will go away and asked me to do some static neck exercise and swimming and prescribed 'Pregabalin m-75' to take for 1 month and stop.
Avatar f tn My Fiance had his kidney stones blasted two days ago and he is still hurting badly. The pain is mostly where the blasting of his kidney was. He was prescribed percecet 5mg and stool softners. Is there anything else he can do to help relieve the pain? He has been getting in a warm bath and saying that it helps...is that okay? Thanks.
1218873 tn?1300091216 ) i have been on Gabapentin for the last 3 months with only a little success (the twitches have reduced considerably) but no relief pain. Now the Dr is going to swap me to Pregabalin which has to be done slowly to switch from one to the other, so this will start as soon as I'm home from holiday. I wondered if anyone had done this and what there experience of the drugs are?
3122908 tn?1342154651 I take its cousin, pregabalin, for nerve pain in my back, and occasionally I run low on them and you would not believe how many aches and pains a person really has until they quit a drug to help all that. It is a fairly mild drug, however, so it's not like you won't be able to function, you just won't be a happy camper.
Avatar m tn I am not sure what your entire medical history is, but there are several pain killers which are safe from renal and cardiac standpoint and may be utilized for pain control. Hope that his helpful.
Avatar f tn I’m 50 year old female in good health. I am resting on blood thinners now, 4 weeks postoperative, but still have a popping and clunking hip on movement even though I have been non-weight bearing since the day after the surgery. Initially due to extreme pain when it popped, and confirmed 1 week later due to CT showing two acetabular and one femoral fracture. Doctor wants to wait 6 weeks for fractures to heal and see if popping resolves.
Avatar f tn That was in July still nothing. There is nothing else to do but wait for the ok. I have pain and numbness in my fingers. Can you give me any ideas on what to do?
Avatar f tn Medications for nerve pain can also help in dealing with the pain, with drugs such as Gabapentin or Pregabalin, as well as some form of anti-depressant therapy which can modulate one's perception of pain. Make sure you discuss all of these options with your doctors before applying them. Regards and God bless.
