I walked to the library without stopping and back (with a bathroom break and grabbed a couple of books inbetween) with the walker. I wasn't able to do it without stopping a lot 2 weeks ago. Yahoo. Oh and I started PT exercises on Thursday. It went well. I'm still working on getting off the walker.

they simply discharge me and tell me what I already know, which is almost nothing. Anyway, I have a rx for a prednisone taper and have heard it may slow my metabolism of my dose down a little bit. The clinic has performed a peak trough blood test so they can see how fast my liver is getting rid of my meds. No health insurance, and tired of sitting in e.r's for hours. Should I take some prednisone. I can't even wait til monday to find out about the peak trough results.
t get any smaller with the steroids (Prednisone). When I came in the numbness and the tingling sensations were from the waist down but within the last few days my legs and feet have gotten much weaker, and the tingling and numbness is spreading into my stomach pretty much up to my chest. It sounds like your mom may have Cushings Symdrome caused by high dose Prednisone usage. Prednisone can cause redistribution of fat in several areas of the body, including the face ( you've probably heard of moon face). It can also occur in the neck and abdomen. It has to do with long-term exposure to high Cortisol levels (Prednisone is just a man-made version of Cortisol). Cortisol is made naturally by the adrenal glands that sit on top of the kidneys.
Because my symptoms were getting worse, my neurologist set up 3 IV steroid treatments followed by a 30 day tapering of prednisone (60mg for 5 days, 50 for 5 days, etc). He's not ready to give me a diagnosis, but was hoping to relieve my symptoms. The first IV treatment seemed to help, but only for a day. Once I began the prednisone, my symptoms have gotten noticeably worse. I've been taking them for about 18 days (currently on the 30mg dosage).
my skin problem started almost 10 months ago, 3 days after giving birth to my daughter....after being released from the hospital, my ring finger became very itchy and eventually saw small clear blisters forming,,,,they would naturally break and my finger became red, itchy,bleeding, painful, with scales,,,,the same eventually happened to every finger on both hands....and on my forearms....
She practically lives on oral prednisone, its the only thing that gives her a minimal amount of relief. If she goes for several days off prednisone she becomes covered in these hives (whelps) and they itch terribly. The more she scratches the worse they get.
She is desperate for some answers.
