1716896 tn?1308880762 I was taking 20mg prednisone twice daily for 3 weeks, and my last dose was monday night. Today is Thursday, and I am developing an itchy rash over my whole body, do you think it is related? Also, my heart rate is also 104 at rest and I have a dull headache.
1842804 tn?1319756311 Hi, I've been on Solumedrol few times so far (3 days IV, 1gram) and thought I knew what to expect. But this one is different (had my last two days ago). FIrst of all - I had no energy booster (I took it for fatigue and vertigo this time). And now the withdrawal worse than ever! I've slept almost all day yesterday and all night (rare with medrol!) and am still feeling awfully: headache is killing me, I'm very dizzy and lightheaded, and I'm soooo tired!

Avatar f tn Has anyone used prednisone to lessen methadone or other opiate withdrawal symptoms?
Avatar m tn Thank you for the reply. I would have never thought prednisone withdrawal would be so difficult. I am hangin' in there and staying positive. Thank you very much Foggy2. It seems the fatigue is the hardest to deal with. I have never experienced fatigue in such an extreme fashion. I am concerned with the last month which will be 1mg every other day. So far it seems I am just one of those people that do better dropping .5mg at a time. Now that I think back I should have been dropping.
Avatar m tn My 70 lb 12 year old golden retriever has a skin condition and was on Prednisone last year for about three weeks. She broke out with the same rash a few days ago, and (stupidly) instead of taking her to the vet, I gave her the same dosage of medicine that we had left over from the last time. I gave her 20mg in the morning, 20 in the evening, and then realized that I didn't have enough to complete the course for three weeks.
785584 tn?1273249232 m getting infusion treatments of prednisone 500 mg for headache lasting 12 days! Yes! Joy of living with headaches after surgery! Anyway after I'm done I thought he said he'd taper me down! Asked the nurse for that script and she said no that he didn't write one fir that! I questioned being tapered down and she said nope he didn't write one! She didn't ask him and I was too tired to argue! Don't you have to be tapered??
Avatar m tn I'm tapering down my prednisone and I'm been getting these headache. Is this due to the steroids??
Avatar n tn Anyone out there get a headache from withdrawal? It's like the worse sinus headache I ever had. I am at tonight will be day 2 of CT from a month's use of Darvocet and Hydrocodone. I was taking 3 a day, 15mg total a day Should I take Advil, or just gut it out?
Avatar f tn However, the prednisone accelerated the osteoarthritis in my knees and hips, and I am now trying to get off prednisone. And this is the real problem of prednisone. For most people with osteoarthritis in addition to whatever else, prednisone reduces healing in tissues that are inflamed (by reducing inflammation which is part of healing). This is not true for every kind of osteoarthritis..
Avatar f tn Hi, Thanks for responding but this didn't really answer my question. I am being treated for the headaches & ear pain w/ the Prednisone. I am wanting answers on what could be causing my headache & ear pain. I am aware of the side effects of Prednisone.
975514 tn?1324997938 I was talking with my husband about prednisone. He has taken it off and on throughout his life for various joint inflammation. He has never had trouble coming off of it whether he was tapered off or not. I have had trouble each and every time I have been on it (for asthma related issues mostly). I always thought I was having "withdrawal" symptoms- horribly aching joints, pain, anxiety, sweats, something that sounds a lot like opiate withdrawal if you ask me.
Avatar f tn In 2002 I was diagnosed with a CSF leak. I learned to lie down when ever I experienced a headache and wait for the fluid to build back up and then I could get up and around for a couple of hours. During this time my neurologist decided to prescribe prednisone to help control the pain from the headaches. I was sent to Mayo clinic for more testing and confirmation of the diagnosis. When Dr. Makri asked about the medication I was taking, I mentioned the prednisone.
Avatar n tn Once you see the neorologist you will feel better ,Headaches of course can be caused by a number of things like Diet, too much sugar or sweetners, also a lot of pain Meds, as they can cause a kind of withdrawal when you stop them if you are taking anything check out that isnt causing the headache, and as for the other tests the answer ,is only wait to see ,there are a lot of things out there now to help with anything they find.
Avatar f tn Hi iam 18 weeks nd I've been having really bad headache, does anyone know anything for it pls
2048234 tn?1330814100 I was put on prednisone for my lungs. its a 7 day treatment but I am reading its very addictive. what do I do? I dont want to get addicted to anything else.
Avatar n tn Felt exhausted after serious bout of bronchitis and long term use of Prednisone. Tested positive for hypothyroid and put on Synthroid 50 mcg daily. OK for two days. A little sick on the third day. Thought I would die on the fourth day. My stomach was so upset with a burning sensation. I was nauseous and I developed a bad headache with horrible dizziness. Do you think that I have been mis-diagnosed?
Avatar n tn three months ago i received a shot of prednisone for fire ant allergies. i have a minor case of cirrhosis, the shot was 120mg, i was weighting at 135lb and in poor health. that night i experienced the first headache of my life. it was a sharp pain lasting a second right in the middle of my brain. next couple days i had a brain fog that was also new to me. naturally i did not take the steroid pills for weaning. and now three months later, my body has changed.
1580703 tn?1651904887 at what dosage dose and length of time does prednisone cause brain damage and memory problems, thinking problems? thanks!
1580703 tn?1651904887 Prednisone is a bad medicine and can cause lots of bad side effects. You are on a relatively low dose. 1 month at 10 mg should not cause any major problems. You shouldn't have any issues with withdrawal when you go off that dose suddenly. I know people who are 5 mg every day for life. I do question the effectiveness of this dosage though. I think you would benefit fro an inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) more than oral pred for long term use. Take care and feel better.
Avatar f tn Usually Prednisone raises glucose levels, not lower. One thing to note is if you have been on Prednisone for more than one month, it is important that you do not stop it "cold turkey." This can cause an acute withdrawal reaction that can lead to a crisis situation - you can mess up your adrenal gland where adrenal exhaustion can lead to hypoglycemia. You'll need to travel outside of your area for an evaluation by an Endo. Mine is 50+ miles away one-way.
