Avatar n tn Not only will they stay in your system, they will act like asbestos particles and eventually you may end up on a respirator. Yup. They NEVER go away and the problems often don't surface until after two to twenty years. Well, you won't ALWAYS wind up on a respirator, but snorting vicodin is plan stupid. Often a "snorter" will end up with severe asthma and on daily inhalers and prednisone. It is a horrible death. But let's look at the bright side.

Avatar n tn NOW THE DR ORDERED AN MRI OF BACK AND HIP, SHE ORDERED THE VICODIN, NAPROXAN I TO 2 TIMES A DAY, AND PREDNISONE, 6 A DAY FOR 5 DAYS THEN 4 THEN 2 AND ONDOWN ,FOR A TOTAL OF 12 DAYS. PAIN IS STILL THERE, ESPECIALLY WHEN I SIT OR LAY FOR TOO LONG, OR GO FOR A LONG DRIVE. MAYBE ITS A SCIATICA PROBLEM ? OR A PINCHED NERVE? I DO HAVE SPINAL STENOSIS, AND SOME TYPE OF ARTHRITIS. ANYWAY, GOT TO GO TAKE MY MEDICINE WITH SOME FOOD.
Avatar f tn Lately I have been using more vicodin as that is the only drug that is working. I live with pain constantly all day. Can anyone suggest anything. I am seeing my doctor this week. Thank you.
1057595 tn?1257898338 She was given 1500 mg a day of Motrin to begin with and then after 5 days of no progress, switched to colchicine twice a day along with Naprosen and low dose Vicodin as needed. She has a very high pain threshold (her last ablation was 7 hours long and she had no anesthesia at all) and now cannot sleep and has dropped one class from her law school schedule. She indicates that the pain in consuming her entire life, especially in her left arm.
Avatar m tn Sorry if these seems like I'm rambling, but quite nervous, so I will try to make as much sense as I can: (Posted earlier) About 2 mos ago- Woke up at night with severe left arm pain as well as pectoral & tricep muscle spasms. Went to PCP (who is a DO) diagnosed with cervicalgia. X-ray showed c3-c4 disease (R>L). Put on Prednisone & Vicoden ES. 2 Weeks later no improvement - MRI ordered & oral prednisone & Vicodin ES refilled.
Avatar m tn m use to working 16 hours days and 9 hour days have becomes so hard to manage recently - Im not sure how to deal with this - They just started me on heavy prednisone and Lortab - I don't want to take the Lortab but I feel like I need to make the pain go away - or is that just my addiction - its continuous is what I was told - flares etc.
Avatar f tn The argument over use of oral prednisone is long-standing. The answer is yes, use of oral prednisone definitely predisposes a person to new infections, both viral and bacterial. That being said, once a given strain of flu is defeated natural antibodies prevent re-infection with that exact strain. It's like getting a vaccination. With oral prednisone the problem is risk vs. benefit. Prednisone affects different people in different ways.
Avatar n tn She was given steroid and antibiotic injections. Also given Baytril and Prednisone to take home and give daily. She gets Prednisone 20mg 3 times a day. She began heavy breathing on day 2 of the med and also seems to have belly bloating. Is this normal? I called my Vets office and all they said was to bring her in to get seen. But, we have already spent $1300 in one week alone on vet bills. Help!
370181 tn?1595629445 I discussed options with my R-doc and I told him that I would like to try Vicodin for three months and see if that helps. A friend of mine with severe RA takes nothing but Vicodin, has taken it for about 6 years now and absolutely swears by it. She has been on virtually the same dose all those years, only upping the dose during a bad flare.
455051 tn?1255826518 Prednisone, Phenergan, Vicodin, Areosol Inhaler, and a Z-pack. So I am trying to feel better. The on call nurse told me that if I at all have trouble breathing to go back to the hospital. Dang, with all this medicine that I am on. I feel extremely weird. I just sit here and stare at the screen. Am I suppost to feel weird from that medicine?
Avatar f tn I refuse to take the prednisone but my doctor says it is the first choice since IVIG are so expensive. I would rather go with the IVIG by IV's than do another dose of prednisone. I wish I knew if EBV caused my low platelet count and what would be my options to raise them to normal count which is 150,000.
608104 tn?1352587153 I am a 70 year old woman with ADHD. My brain is aging along with the rest of me. With the help of the prednisone and a Z pak for a secondary infection and convalescence, the respiratory problems are gone, but I'm coping with the side effects of the prednisone including agitation, mood swings, greater distractibility, disorganization, incredible appetite increases, and gastritis.
785373 tn?1236328403 As a child I was prescribed prednisone on a regular basis for asthma issues, as well as being banned from all dairy products. Now, as an adult, I was told that the prednisone had deteriorated my bones, and my calcium levels, and was told that it was responsible for my osteoarthritis. I was also diagnosed with having fibromyalgia. That was 5 or 6 years ago.
Avatar f tn While I was there, they gave me an iv with fluids, 60mg of prednisone, and because my hives were painful and did not itch they gave me 20mg of percocet. With my fever and generally feeling of being out of it, I did not tell them I am a addict, not to mention my husband was there and he doesn't know of the situation. Anyways, I am worried how I will feel tomorrow with the percocet being in my system. Am I going to feel any type of withdrawl? Do I have to start my ticker over?
Avatar m tn She had to go on Prednisone because the Cushings meds worked too well, but the Prednisone made her worse. Good ;luck in trying to find the right dosage and meds, its really hard.
Avatar m tn The patient is 28 years old, was diagnosed ITP 4 years ago, had been treated with Prednisone several times, each time from several months to 1 year. The patient had an unsuccessful pregnancy one year ago. The main questions from the patient are: 1) Is it safe for the patient to get pregnant? What's the minimum platelet level requirement during pregnancy? 2) If during the pregnancy the patient needs to be treated, is Prednisone safe at a low dose?
Avatar f tn He has had an MRI of his shoulder and was prescribed Vicodin for a pinched nerve. It made him sleep all the time and meds wore off in a few hours. He was then prescribed Neurontin which he started today.. This has been going on for a month with still no relief for him. What would be his next step? Thank you.
Avatar m tn Hi JJ- if you google prednisone and hair loss you will find many interesting links to the topic. It appears that complaints about hair loss are near the top of the list of side effects reported with extended prednisone use..... Something about it changes the hormone levels. the good news is it seems it is not a permanent problem - the hair recovers after the prednisone is stopped.
Avatar f tn m losing hope of getting any real medical help. I take prednisone daily (again) along with a long list of narcotic pain meds to keep me functioning, yet it's still hard to breathe. I don't like the side effects of the prednisone and too much narcotics is never a good thing to live with.
793908 tn?1294705109 The signs of which may include GI upset- anorexia, vomiting, diarrhea- decreased ability to respond to stress and others. Prednisone (essentially synthetic cortisol) is often sent home with clients with instructions to be given if signs such as these develop. Some vets may prescribe it at a low dose prophylactically. The goal is to control cortisol production without allowing it bottom out. Hope that helps!
Avatar n tn I am not a help with Behcet's other than I know a lot of people are told they have herpes and do not. However, you may want to go to the rare disease site on medhelp. I believe Behcet's is known there and you may get some answers! Hope all goes well for you!
Avatar n tn I have tried morphine, oxycodone, fentanyl and subutex (same as suboxone) and while the traditional opiates take the edge off (maybe a 20% reduction in pain with 100 mg morphine and 30 mg oxycodone) I experienced complete relief from crippled to fine with 2 mg of subutex. Narcotics are not indicated for RA at all, according to my rheumatologist and everything I see online. They are not very effective either.
Avatar f tn I HAVE RECENTLY BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH RHEUMOTOID ARTHRITIS, IS IT NORMAL FOR THE PARTS OF THE BODY TO SHOW BRUISING AFTER A JOINT FLARE UP
450257 tn?1268343617 Left with very little income (live alone, so no second income to rely on) and no insurance, I would go see a GP about every 4 months when the pain would become too much to bear. He treated me with 5 mg Vicodin (would have to take 4 at a time for it to even begin to touch the pain) and a week on prednisone (Z-pack I think it is called). The dr was great, he was pretty much taking my word for the back problems because I couldn't afford testing.
