Anyone taken prednisone while pregnant? I am 16w and have low platelets. I am really worried about the side effects. Mainly excessive weight gain and mood swings.

I was borderline needing it but ended up not, however one of my friends had terrible asthma flare ups while she was pregnant and her Dr had her on it. Her and I are both nurses and comfortable with the idea of taking the prednisone while pregnant. It's definitely one of those where the benefits greatly outweigh any potential risks.

Anyone heard of people treating while on lower dose prednisone? I have read the studies done of people treated with prednisone prior to treatment which wasn't great outcome wise.

I was diognised with auto immune hepatitis 6 months ago. My doctor started treatment with 50mg azathioprine. It didn't work so he added 10mg prednisone. After 2 mths on both medication I found out I was expecting, the doctor stopped the prednisone but increased azathioprine to 100mg. Am wondering whats the danger to my unborn baby?also recently I started itching badly and also my blood work results are not getting better. Is there anyone who has had the same problem?

has anyone ever see a pregnant woman get her first flare up while pregnant? Why would they suggest prednisone for a pregnant woman? Is this safe at all? Is there anything natural that can help?

I was just wondering if anyone has had hair loss after being on Prednisone a while. I have been on and off of it for a year now, mostly on it, anywhere from 20mg. to 5 mg. daily. Just in the last month or so I have noticed more hair on the shower floor and in my hair brush. I don't know if it's the Lupus or the Prednisone. Maybe there's no way to tell. I was just wondering about anyone elses experience. Like I said, I have been on it a year and it's just now happening.

im very concerned about starting my presciption of prednisone for what i consider to be a persistant but moderate sore throat. the dr. was advised that i have type 2 diabetes and turning off my immune system while im already in a bout with it...it just seems extreme and i fear my condition will worsen since no immune protection.and increase of blood sugar levels. for a sore throat ??

Ghosh thanks a lot for replying. I was wondering if not prednisone which medication is suitable to control RA while trying to conceive. I am asking this so I can talk to my doctor about it and change the medication. Which medication is suitable please advice. Because I definitely need something to control my RA. I can come off of it once pregnant though.

t tested for NK cells but my doc suspected I had it since I had 2 unexplained miscarriages both were missed miscarriages, he placed me on prednisolone and metformin while I was TTC and currently I am six weeks pregnant and he says I will continue the treatment until I am three months pregnant. in both pregnancies before the rate of growth was wrong and I had no symptoms. I hope this one sticks hoping and praying for the best.

I agree with lynda; I was on prednisone starting right before my IVF up until 12 weeks pregnant.

For me prednisone was both a lifesaver and the devil drug. I have Crohn's disease and if it were't for the pred I probably would have lost a good portion of my colon. Then I became prednisone dependant and every time I would try to wean down I got so sick-once my adrenals crashed and I ended up in the hospital for 2 weeks. I was never on a very high dose-maybe 40 to begin with and then tapered down.

My daughter had a severe sinus infection with fluid/ear pressure buildup so painful, the doctor prescribed 20 mg of Prednisone, taken 3 times a day (60 mg) for 7 days, reduce to 2 for 2 days, then 1 for 1 day to keep from 'damaging her ear drum because the fluid buildup was so bad'. She's been taking it for 5 days and feel sick to her stomach, headaches - the only thing that has left is the pain in her ears. Is that an overdose what they gave her? Are these the side effects?

I'm taking Prednisone for buzzing in the head/ear and it stops it. I was prescribed 1 20 mg tblet per day for 5 days. The awful buzzing stopped for 3 weeks after I used it for 5 days.Then it started again. So I went to ER and they said I had so much wax in my right ear that it was impacted and covering my ear drum so they cleaned it out. I had no buzzing for two days; also they prescribed the Prednisone again for 5 days. I took ONE AND REALIZED IT WORK IMMEDIATELY. The awful noise stopped.

Ok so I went off of iv steroids and now have 2 weeks of prednisone to take and this is my 2nd day. I feel a crawling sensation on left side of face. I feel like the tip of my tongue in tingly, I am seeing stars every now and then and some stomach pain. Just need reassurance this is normal? I thought I was supposed to have energy but it 5pm and I'm tired. I dont like this feeling.
