Drink plenty of fluids throughout the day and use over-the-counter throat lozenges. Salt water gargle is also a good way to relieve a sore throat. In addition, you can take anti inflammatory drugs like ibuprofen and paracetamol (acetaminophen) after consulting your general physician.

I am also diabetic @ bood sugars are higher than usual is this a side effect of prednisone,have 3 more days on prednisone should I stop?

im very concerned about starting my presciption of prednisone for what i consider to be a persistant but moderate sore throat. the dr. was advised that i have type 2 diabetes and turning off my immune system while im already in a bout with it...it just seems extreme and i fear my condition will worsen since no immune protection.and increase of blood sugar levels. for a sore throat ??

Those sound like normal side effects of prednisone. Nasty drug but can save a dog's life. My golden has been taking 50mg daily for 2 months and the side effects are horrible.

Since I only had a 2 day supply out of the 6 day supply of prednisone they said my side effects from stopping the steriods houldnt be bad. Unfortunately that is not true. Does anyone know how long this will last or what I can do to ease this awful feeling? I am so scared nad this is makingmy anxiety rise....

I firmly believe that my psychiatrist should have warned me about the side effects of this med or any meds he prescribes. By God, they are sure to warn against effects of Viagra and other drugs on TV!!!!!! I would have never thought of telling him about mouth sores and a sore throat. I made no connection at all. I don't know how long it's going to take to get out of my system, but we stopped it on Friday and I hope I don't have any untoward effects from that.

you dont really get a sore throat . your throat just itches 4 sum reason. so that maybe y your friend clears his throat.

The day after I was in pain and had a bad sore throat, still dry coughing. Is this a side effect of the Zantac? Or is this a sign my throat is healing from never having taken this kind of medicine before?

I've noticed that after 3 months of daily prednisone that I have developed hair on my upper lip and jaw line. Has anyone else experienced side effects like this? I don't see how it will go away on it's own. How do you treat unwanted facial hair? This is quite upsetting to me. Thanks!

I received I-131 on the morning of March 6th...by that night I had a sore throat. Not a regular sore thoat...felt like pin prickles...if that makes any sense. Developed a dry cough a few days after this and neck tenderness. Now today I've had a fever (100.5 - 101.5). Are any of these symptoms normal? Maybe it's just a coincidence and I'm getting a cold? I do get bronchitis alot but the cough that accompanies that is always a congested cough. This one is just dry.

They told me I had a allergic reaction to something and gave me predisone and benadryl through IV. I went home and slept great, woke up today with a sore throat. I am just curios if anyone has experienced this. About a year and a half ago, I had a severe asthma episode and coschondrits for the first time. I was put on a 2 week coarse of Prednisone along with ibuprofen. By the end I had developed an issue swallowing pills. Even my small thyroid ones felt like they got stuck. Then it progressed to coughing up small hard bits of food, severe reflux, etc.

Prednisone is a very, very powerful drug, so good and bad side effects. It shuts down your own adrenal system at anything over 5-7 mg a day I believe it is, so a whole bunch of psychiatric side effects are possible. Myself I was revved up, lots of energy, very out of it though and then horrible anxiety when they tried to taper me off - really painful. So welcome to the loonie club and we can all support each other....

Please check the side effects of prednisone, which can be very serious. For me they were dreadful.
