prednisone side effects alcohol

My side effects from prednisone have been anxiety, panic attacks, metal taste in mouth, sound intolerance, smell intolerance, communication disability, bladder infection feeling, rashes on vagina, even started a period like during tx, ( mentapause for 6 years) ...has anybody else had anything similar happen to them when given another drug regiment or am I alone on this one?

I am also diabetic @ bood sugars are higher than usual is this a side effect of prednisone,have 3 more days on prednisone should I stop?

Those sound like normal side effects of prednisone. Nasty drug but can save a dog's life. My golden has been taking 50mg daily for 2 months and the side effects are horrible.

I've noticed that after 3 months of daily prednisone that I have developed hair on my upper lip and jaw line. Has anyone else experienced side effects like this? I don't see how it will go away on it's own. How do you treat unwanted facial hair? This is quite upsetting to me. Thanks!

The doctor gave me Metronidazole pills to take to treat Trich and should told me i couldnt have any alcohol 3 days before and after takin the pills including the alcohol in mouthwash bc it was cause a bad stomach ache. i was also wondering if this included my toothpaste which has mouthwash beads? Or is regular toothpaste better or not good either?

Prednisone is a very, very powerful drug, so good and bad side effects. It shuts down your own adrenal system at anything over 5-7 mg a day I believe it is, so a whole bunch of psychiatric side effects are possible. Myself I was revved up, lots of energy, very out of it though and then horrible anxiety when they tried to taper me off - really painful. was red and flushed only on head neck and face.....nowhere else......was told prednisone side effect....but being riddled with panic disorder I checked latuda site......rare but deadly side effect called nms...neuropaletic malignant syndrome.....symptoms are. Like you, I too have been on loads of meds. In your place I would ask as much as you can during your biopsy, and would also bombard your PCP with questions. He or she should be guiding you through all of this. The stress factor makes things incredibly worse.

5 days 30mg; 5 days 20 mg; 5 days 10 mg. As I got better, side-effects were worse than the illness. Gastritis required re-starting sucralfate at least at bedtime, agitation and mood swings limited my cognitive function. I limited my driving because of distractibility. I'm 70 with ADHD. Hi again. Do you mean that you fear side effects from this dose of Prednisone that you didn't get from much larger doses of the IV? Could you say why this is? Actually, IVSM is intravenous methylprednisolone, and it's considerably stronger than just Prednisone, even at the same dosage (as I learned a few weeks ago when we had quite a discussion here about this). So you've had much more of this than you'd thought.

Hi, as far the present symptoms are concerend, probably they are due to prednisone only. Verapamil is the drug given in prophylaxis of migraine but it can not abort the attack once it get started. May be you need to taper the dose of prednisone as this drug is never withdrawn instantly. Do consult doctor for side effects.

I know it is the side effects but was wondering if anyone has any ideas for relief of it. My back hurts as well I do use a heating pad on it and sometimes it helps but the neck, shoulders, and stomach are so uncomfortable. Does anyone do anything that helps with this?

Obviously, you want to be on the prednisone for as short a time as possible to avoid long term side effects. However, NOT being on it is sometimes not an option. Everyone is different and can/will react to medications differently - and the side effects that one person experiences may not affect someone else with the same medication and dosage. So, unfortunately, it' simpossible for someone to tell you how long you can be on th eprednisone before side effects starting taking their toll.

I've taken Prednisone for years with no side effects, so I can't answer on a personal level, but if your neuro told you to stop it if you got any of the listed side effects, then I HIGHLY recommend that you stop taking it, and CALL HIM IMMEDIATELY and let him know what your reactions were. I recently cam down with moderately bad case of poison ivy. I went to my dermatologist who was not present and was seen by the physicains assistant. She prescribed a burst of prednisone (5 days 2x20mg, 5 days 1x10mg). I took my first dose immediately (2x20mg). The rash began to subside but I don't like the side effects (insomnia) and would rather sit out the poison ivy. I wish the p.a. had discussed the potential side effects before prescriing this highly potent drug.
