The GP that put her on it is giving her prednisone to make her feel better but as soon as she goes off of it the fever and pain come back and she is having awful effects of the prednisone. Pleas help!
My daughter had a severe sinus infection with fluid/ear pressure buildup so painful, the doctor prescribed 20 mg of Prednisone, taken 3 times a day (60 mg) for 7 days, reduce to 2 for 2 days, then 1 for 1 day to keep from 'damaging her ear drum because the fluid buildup was so bad'.
She's been taking it for 5 days and feel sick to her stomach, headaches - the only thing that has left is the pain in her ears.
Is that an overdose what they gave her? Are these the side effects?

I wanted to let you know what happened to me on Wed. I had flecainide rx'd for me 25mg about 6 weeks ago. I took one dose and it made me dizzy and bad arrythmia. So I didn't take any more. Kept the bottle from the drug store though (big mistake). I take several prescriptions and on Wed. didn't have my glasses on and reached for what I thought was prednisone. So I took 1 1/2 pills. I looked closer and realized I took 75 mg of flecainide.
Prendisone gives you energy, helps you breath better, I was on it after my accident and started last tx with it. I took it for a ruptured adrenal gland and lung issues.
Short term it does give you energy and helps with many things, long term my understanding is can cause a lot of other damage. I know it took a long time to be weaned from it, For me it was a long time, Adrenals are little glands that control a lot.
I need to make a decision on what to take after going off treatment and the hepatitis reoccuring. My doctor says I can take more prednisone and less Imuran or more Imuran and less prednisone. What is more damaging?

I have taken prednisone several times since I completed treatment, actually currently I'm just winding down on a significant ten day dosing of it at the moment.
I have remainned SVR for five or six years. Aside from the bloating weight gain that I get from it I haven't had any problems at all.
When did you finish tx? Any chance you can get your 4 week PCR done even early to see what that says?
Are you allergic to the medication or just prefer not to be on a steroid? Did you already find an alternate treatment?
Hi. I've been on these boards a long time. My last failed treatment had to fail because about 9 weeks into the treatment, I developed retinal hemmorhaging. My husband (we've divorced now, but not because of this). He had to do my shot that night into the back of the forearm because I felt so awful. As he prepared the medication, I had to keep correcting what he was doing.
i am already on several medications for my asthma
( symbicort 160, singulair, duoneb 2x daily as a maintanance ,and still need my maxair daily. i have been on 6 prednisone tapers so far this year and have been doing allergy shot for 1.5 yrs with next to no improvement in my asthma. my question is, i know all the good , bad and ugly about prednisone but i HAVE TO be able to live my life!!! does anyone know of any alternatives that i might discuss with my doctor.
Can someone give me either the symptoms or the timeline for an Ibuprofen overdose? And what's going to happen if I don't get treatment? I've taken approx. 40 200mg ibuprofen tablets, 32 hours ago.
Wondering if prednizone has any effect on blood oxygen reading on my oximeter. The prednisone has miracuously once again helped my asthma condition, but I've noticed that my oximeter reading has dropoped about 4 points from approximately 97 to 93 since I started the prednizone treatment. Is there any connection or are the two completely unrelated?
I overdosed two days ago on ibuprofen and still feel off. Should I seek treatment? Would it still help? Would I be a suicide risk?
However, the prednisone accelerated the osteoarthritis in my knees and hips, and I am now trying to get off prednisone.
And this is the real problem of prednisone. For most people with osteoarthritis in addition to whatever else, prednisone reduces healing in tissues that are inflamed (by reducing inflammation which is part of healing). This is not true for every kind of osteoarthritis..

I was using Advair increasingly the past month till I experienced my first significant flare (had to do an internet search to actually find out what a flare meant) that drove me to see my doc.....she first put me on Symbicort and a decreasing prednisone RX. By the end of the week, the Symbicort did allow me to take the inhalation deeper but only seemed to help about 4-5 hours before the SOB returned, and the prednisone didn't seem to be making a difference.

The first physician recommends thyroid scan and uptake and then the iodine treatment, with a prednisone taper for my eyes prior. He says I am slightly anemic so I should bypass the antithyroid medication.
The other physician is against doing the thyroid scan and uptake and recommends going directly to antithyroid medication and prednisone for the eyes.
What do you think is the best route.
Hi!I have a prednisone treatment since 4 months(100 mg a day to 0 mg a day) I'm actually taking 25 mg a day and noticed a moon face symptom since about a month . Is there anything i can do or take to counterbalance that situation?I should finish that prednisone treatment in 5 weeks....How long it takes to recover a normal face after that treatment????Thanks...
