20914321 tn?1636236164 Hi, the thing I'd keep foremost in mind at this point is that the worst possible causes (such as blood cancers) are NOT the most likely causes. In fact, all of your symptoms can be explained by some mystery immune system condition. Everything at this point must be seen in terms of probabilities. A neutrophilic leukemia (CML or AML) would probably have already been diagnosed after two years. But a mystery immune condition often takes multiple years to diagnose.
277836 tn?1359666174 So now I am on prednisone I started at 40mg a day 8 pills a ay for 2 weeks then 7 a day for 2 weeks went back to dr and he said reduce down weekly now 6 for a week then 5 for a week and so on, Called back today for blood work and the nurse said the WBC is still elevated I am concerned because the dr is thinking I may not have ulcerative colitis now??? Avatar f tn It was short term only a few weeks due to intolerance. have also been on Prednisone on and off for 20 years. Currently my sed and ana rates have been normal. So there is also a history of Ankl.Spond, and mild Psoriatic Arthritis. So there is some Auto immune involvement , but nothing to indicate current high white counts etc that have been occurring for months now.
Avatar m tn ve taken alot of ibuprophen and pain meds for muscle and headache pain. I have been a janitor for many yrs. and use a respirator but still fumes get in my sinus'. My father died of leukemia. He handled gas and oil products all the time. Could I possibly have compromised my immune system & liver?
Avatar n tn Been going on for quite some time. I think my last white blood count was 12.5. I have been having a hard time getting my results back fron my primary care doctor. Also have had severe groin pain. I call CLEAVELAND CLINIC, TO GET TESTED COMPLETRLY, cas i have Corinary heart disease, but now they want all my scans, but hosp. for some reason wont give them to me? Thank u.
Avatar f tn Guess I'm a little paranoid because that's what I saw before the leukemia diagnosis. I'm on my 9th week of Sovaldi Olysio. My white cells are and all blood work are fine last check. Could be the small amount of prednisone I have to take, as well. Just wondering, hope everyone enjoys their weekend!
Avatar m tn My 13 and half Golden Retriever was diagnosed a year ago with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia. He is for the time being in remission, taking twice a month 10 Leukeran pills (chemo), and once a day 10 mg of Prednisone. He never really had any symptoms, and it was just discovered through a regular check up. He is a big dog (100 lbs), and has a few lipomas. I noticed a new one two or three month ago on his stomach just inside an inch or two away from his front leg (size of a lemon).
Avatar f tn I was referred to a hematologist and after further bloodwork it has been determined I do not have leukemia. I am to undergo a CT scan next week. Is lymphoma usually associated with elevated WBC?
Avatar n tn We must constantly keep both eyes moist with eye drops and special salve to keep them from getting worse. He has been placed on prednisone, and periodically I place antibiodic eye drops in his eyes to ensure there is no infection. I'm hoping to find someone that may have treated this before with good results, as I am afraid that whatever attacked his eye muscles may also attack the optic nerves, and I don't want this problem to progress.
947226 tn?1245799962 i had went to a dr about this and he told me i had polymyalgia rheumatica. he gave me 20mg prednisone for about 2 weeks and my symptoms went away until now. i've just started doing research on this disease and i can not find anything about women my age having this. mainly in women 50 and older. i was wondering if anyone could help me if anyone has any information thats not on the internet. it does get better now with prednisone.
1580703 tn?1651904887 thanks a lot- yeah I've been on the HC and then prednisone for 25 days now- I still have bleeding I think from the hemmarhoids
Avatar n tn t mean that you have had an acute attack that would trigger erythema multiforme. As for syphilis and leukemia, normal syphilis tests and blood counts would seem to rule those out with confidence, as would the fact that this eems to be a recurrent problem. Some doctors prescribe prednisone for erythema multiforme, but there's little evidence that it does much, and if the case is not too severe it probably isn't necessary.
Avatar m tn I was told a year ago I had low platelets and I'm just now going back 2 days from now. I'm worried about Leukemia. I've heard from various sources the prognosis for untreated acute leukemia is 3-6 months. Is it possible I could've survived without any treatment for 12-15 months? Please limit your answers to involve acute leukemia. I'm aware chronic leukemia could still be a possibility.
Avatar n tn I heard recently on a tv show that there are blood tests that will confirm whether you are likely to get leukemia. Both my parents died of leukemia in 2009. My father had AML, my mother had CML. Can anyone give me some information I am seeking? I was asked to have a blood test taken in 2009, and my doctor then said there was something they would watch, but then she retired, and I have no idea what she was talking about. Any info would be a benefit! Thank you!
158939 tn?1274915197 The massage therapist was talking to me before the massage and when I told her I was going to be evaluated for lymphoma/leukemia she told me she cannot massage a patient with those cancers because of the impact on the lymphatic system and the chance of metastases. After I thanked her I went into the steam room and bawled for 10 minutes before I thought "well, is a steam room or hot shower/bath also bad?".
Avatar n tn 640 (5x confirmation) -Lymphocytes - remain elevated -Neutrophils - remain low All other labs normal - specialized testing for everything. Fatigued, urticaria-like rash (no itch), extreme facial flushing, throat swelling (feels odd/difficult to swallow), randomly located pain that comes and goes, abdominal pain, lower left back pain. No allergies. I have been to four rheumatologists, a neurologist, hematologist, allergy/immunologist.
Avatar m tn This last time I was on IV for three days and a taper for ten. I had to take klonipin for the anxiety the last two times. It's been three weeks since totally off and I'm still suffering from the anxiety. But even more annoying, is the paranoia that has developed this time and not gone away. Why am I still anxious and paranoid? What has the steroid done to me and is it time to see my doctor? If so, which one, my MS doc, and adrenal doc or my regular MD? Thanks for listening.
Avatar f tn He now has been diagnosed with probable IBD and is on prednisone. The vet also said that he is likely in the very early stages of lymphosarcoma, but can't be absolutely certain without a biopsy. My question is should I put my beloved kitty through the ordeal of endoscopic biopsy and chemo at his age and with his condition? I don't want him to suffer any more than he has to. Does anyone have experience with this, as well as the cost of such treatment?
Avatar f tn She's in hospital getting chemotherapy for acute leukemia. Ironic because she's always resisted treatment due to side effects. Just wondering out loud if long term HCV has role in her new illness. If you PM me I'll give contact info on FB.
663774 tn?1297225152 I would also recommend that she be tested for Feline Leukemia and Feline AIDS. If she is negative, depending on her lifestyle (indoors only or outdoors, single cat vs multi cat household) you and your veterinarian could also consider the Feline Leukemia vaccine. After her boosters, she should be vaccinated per the American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP) protocols. That is rabies and distemper once every 3 years and feline leukemia vaccine based on her risk factors.
1081992 tn?1389903637 FDA approves new drug for chronic lymphocytic leukemia in patients with a specific chromosomal abnormality http://www.fda.gov/NewsEvents/Newsroom/PressAnnouncements/ucm495253.htm April 11, 2016 The U.S. Food and Drug Administration today approved Venclexta (venetoclax) for the treatment of patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) who have a chromosomal abnormality called 17p deletion and who have been treated with at least one prior therapy.
82861 tn?1333453911 Spinal compression at 3 different levels and every disc ruptured. She lost the ability to walk for more than two steps without severe pain. This is a woman who has a pain tolerance like nothing I've ever seen, and for her to beg to go the hospital speaks volumes. She was put on IV steroids in the hospital and it's been a miracle not only physically but mentally. Mom has high blood pressure treated very well with tenex, which is an adrenaline blocker.
1753162 tn?1317278184 Welcome to the forum. I can only comment based on my experience as a patient with lymphoma, but I will do my best to help. There are many kinds of lymphoma, some slow growing and some aggresive. Someone with a slow growing lymphoma (aka: indolent lymphoma), can have it for many years without any symptoms, including skewed blood work. Even after being diagnosed with indolent lymphoma myself, my blood work was always within normal range.
Avatar f tn My question is I was on prednisone for both these tests, and I’m finding out now that prednisone can drastically reduce the size of enlarged lymph nodes. I am soo concerned about this. Is this true ? If so, how long should I stop the prednisone for in order to repeat the tests and have a accurate result.
Avatar f tn Let me start by saying that I have CML which is Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia, and I had no symptoms. I went for a routine blood test, and my Leukemia showed in the blood work with a high White Blood Count, and then we went from there. If you would post a little bit more information, I might be able to ease your mind or direct you in the right direction.
Avatar f tn I also have panhypopituitarism. I have been on 5mg of prednisone since my dx in 96. I have been doing some research and am interested in finding out more about constant subcutaneous infusion of hydrocortisone. My days start off OK but by 5pm I am very fatigued.
