This was a low risk exposure for herpes. Condoms work reasonably well in protection for vaginal sex, and oral sex is safe sex -- even unprotected. I would judge your overall odds of catching genital herpes from this single sexual contact to be somewhere around 1 chance in 10,000. That's equivalent to having a similar sexual experience once daily for 27 years before herpes might be likely!

its possible that it can do it, what did you take prednisone for? its used for immune disorders, eczema,psoriasis, etc. certain medications work differently for everyone.

3 days later went to Infectious diseases Dr (had to wait as it was weekend), he swabbed the sore area, thought it looked 50/50 for herpes. Took blood and urine for other STDs. They all came back neg. Swab was also neg, but he said may have been too late for accurate test. He also did HSV antibody which came back positive.....I asked for which HSV, he said test did not distinguish between HSV 1 and HSV 2. Am confused, Dr says come back asap if another sore appears.

I was diagnosed as acutely positive for Herpes Zostra NOS (shingles). The swelling seems to be much worse internally in the evening, making it difficult to sit without a great deal of pain. The doctor prescribed Prednisone, Valtrex, and Lidocaine they all help but none are stopping the evening pain making it very hard to sleep.

My daughter was diagnosed with Behcet's in 2008. Then in 2009 she contracted herpes (hsv2). She is now having an outbreak of herpes (starting to get under control after 2 rounds of valtrex, back on acyclovir for 2 days) and a flare of Behcet's. Prednisone will make the painful vaginal Behcet's lesions go away but will cause another outbreak of herpes. Does anyone have any suggestions? She's about to leave for a required college trip. the rates of acyclovir resistance are still the same as they were when the medication was first discovered for use with herpes over 25 years ago. No worries about resistance.

So I was at the movie theater and I got a pizza and the guy touched his face and then touch my plate for it I was wondering if It was possible to get herpes from him touching my plate like where I put my pizza on it

t think you have put yourself at risk for herpes infection,no. If anything taking prednisone woulld make a herpes outbreak way, way worse.

I also have panhypopituitarism. I have been on 5mg of prednisone since my dx in 96. I have been doing some research and am interested in finding out more about constant subcutaneous infusion of hydrocortisone. My days start off OK but by 5pm I am very fatigued.

I have had tinnitus and vertigo for many years. 7 years ago I was put on prednisone for myalgia pain. My pain went away but it had no affect on my hearing. It did affect my belly....it bloated out like a pregnant woman...lol...I got off prednisone back in january of this year. If you can avoid it then avoid it. If you need it for other reasons and not for hearing then I guess you have to continue taking it until it does not good for you.

( I recommend seeing your provider for further evaluation as soon as you can instead at this point. The prednisone can cause genital herpes to flare up as well as cause you to be more prone to vaginal infections as well as skin infections. No need to worry about getting hsv1 back on your genital area - incredibly unlikely to happen.

I have had Bell's Palsy and took prednisone for 5 days and a week later started acyclovir but I've been having blindness, extremely blurry, gray vision in my affected eye and can't widen that eye pupil or shut it. I think the eye muscle may be paralyzed too and I can't speak or remember well.

The dates given indicate that you have had these lesions for over 2 months. Be they herpes zoster or not, you should definitely consult with a dermatologist and soon. Good luck.

Hello Grace and thank you for responding. Yes, to both of your questions. My lab report states as follows:HERPES 1 AND 2 IGG AB Herpes 1 IgG Ab >5.00 H, Herpes 2IgG Ab >5.00 H (high). My ob/gny regularly tests for herpes, hpv and hiv as part of the test for std's. He physically showed me the report from July of 08 and pointed out the corresponding results which were all negative. My boyfriend and I split for 2 years between 2010 and 2012. I suffer from COPD and depression.

this certainly sounds suspicious for herpes. at this point a type specific herpes igg blood test is the best next course of action.

Your symptoms are not common for any std including herpes. I am sorry you are going through this and it's not that uncommon in men. I have some of the same symptoms myself. I have the same sensitivity issues and odd ball pain they can't explain. My urine habits are the same as yours. Now all the guys who have these symptoms seem to have one thing in common. Never tested positive for any std's. The red testicles is very common. I like you, workout regularly and eat well.
