1540112 tn?1293016134 But as soon as I quit taking the prednisone it seemed the rash got twice as bad. Went back to doc and got 10 mgs of prednisone, take 3 for 3 days, then 2 for 3 days, then one. The rash went away a lil more. Now it seems as if the rash may be coming back again. My question is will taking to small of a dose, or not taking the prednisone until the rash clears up. Will that cause the rash to come back?
Avatar f tn My mom says it's good stuff too. Glad it works for you.
Avatar n tn I have a friend that says she has the same thing and she takes Zyrtec and Pepcid at night, she says it is the combination of the 2 drugs, and then when her lip swells she has to take Prednisone. Is there anything I can give my 8 year old for the swelling?
329165 tn?1515471990 Hi, I am now on Prednisone for 5 days and some cream. Fish and Shellfish allergy and I am really bummed as I love fish!
Avatar f tn Prednisone did nothing for me.
Avatar n tn Since then I have been on various rounds of antibiotics, prednisone, cough syrups, singular, symbicort, albuterol etc. I had been treated at the allergy clinic years before for allergies and asthma. I have had to take about 8 days of 10mg prednisone about 4 -5 times in the last 8 months. It is about the only thing that helps my coughing and spitting up of phlegm.
689528 tn?1364135841 Hello, My wife and I have two boxers and we went crazy with their allergies, treating the symptoms from puppy-hood. Our male especially would be sooo itchy, and get hot spots and even his lips and jowls would swell, his ears would get red and itchy.... The poor thing would scratch till he bled. We would load him up on benedryl, we didn't know what to do. Our EX-vet was making a fortune on us until we decided to get a second opinion.
Avatar m tn I have never reacted to jewelry or shrimp, but am going to have a bloodtest for shellfish allergy. I'm down to 7.5 mg prednisone and mostly just having a fairly constant rash and itching now. I'm really hoping that the other symptoms don't come back. Betbri, what problems are you having? Were you given contrast IV for a CT? I wasn't aware of metallic content in contrast.
Avatar f tn I never react the same each time. Xolair does work for me...no allergy medication or inhalers are needed while on the injection (which is great since I am allergic to Zyrtec....it gives me sever depression so I am afraid to take anything) and it has 'cured' me of COPD. If any knows of another therapy for high Ige levels...please share.
1716896 tn?1308880762 I was taking 20mg prednisone twice daily for 3 weeks, and my last dose was monday night. Today is Thursday, and I am developing an itchy rash over my whole body, do you think it is related? Also, my heart rate is also 104 at rest and I have a dull headache.

Avatar m tn The second possible diagnosis was an allergy, this time treated by tapered prednisone tratmen for 12 days. The prednisone seemed to help but on the 10th day of tratment the itching returned. Now my doctor has advised using Triamcinolone Acetonide cream on the rash twice a day, but after 5 days still no success. Has anyone had a similar problem and found what the solution to curing it was??? Thanks for your help!
Avatar n tn my 9 year old dog has been on prednisone for 6 weeks for ITP and we are weaning her off now.
Avatar f tn I have an issue with itching all over my body for many years. At first it was seasonal, only in winter months. Now, it is severe and every day. Prednisone works, however, I have to be on high doses and there are other serious side effects. With time, the nature of my itch has changed. It is not pure itch now. I feel a prickly pain under the itch. I also have idiopathic neuropathy and a bladder disease, interstitial cystitis, which is thought to be auto immune and, or allergy.
Avatar f tn She is very concerned and considering not having the procedure done. She was recently in the hospital for a week with pancreatitis but is still not feeling well. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
1580703 tn?1651904887 there may be anti-inflammatory compounds in azithromycin which could be a future drug with research my headaches are helped by prednisone and my circulation is better on prednisone. when I have asthma I feel pain at the temples and trouble thinking.
Avatar n tn As to your hives, usually they are a symptom of allergy. Have you been tested for allergies? Prednisone is bad news. Be very careful with it. Are you being treated for your thyroid problem? The short of breath business might be asthma, brought on by allergy. The dizzinesss, confusion, weakness could be hypoglycemia. Often hypothyroidism, hypoglycemia and adrenal malfunction are connected. I would see an endocrynologist. And I would see an allergist too.
Avatar m tn One thing many people do not realize is that if a dog has a food allergy that it takes up to 6 weeks for that allergy to not affect the dog once the food has been switched over to another food. When you are checking a dog over for a food allergy, you cannot give him ANY OTHER type of food OR any types of treats. He may only have ONE food, no treats. Finding a food that will not cause problems can take several months of hit and misses.
Avatar m tn Probably a systemic allergy of some sort. My guess would be allergy to either the Prednisone or what ever other medication you were taking prior to the Prednisone. I'm having a similar issue with a different medication and will likely have to do the same thing.
Avatar f tn i have been on 6 prednisone tapers so far this year and have been doing allergy shot for 1.5 yrs with next to no improvement in my asthma. my question is, i know all the good , bad and ugly about prednisone but i HAVE TO be able to live my life!!! does anyone know of any alternatives that i might discuss with my doctor. i don't really want pred daily but i just have to reclaim my life that i've lost for the last 3yrs.
Avatar f tn I used to be able to sustain without the prednisone for longer periods of time. Now I cannot go for more than a two weeks without the prednisone before I start having severe attacks again. My prednisone is taking a very hard toll on my body. Weight gain, bruising, insane mood disorders, last week I smiled and my lip split. My kidney pain is excrutiating. Now my teeth are chipping. I constantly lose the feeling in my legs and my body is retaining so much fluid.
Avatar f tn ve struggled with allergies all my life (severe eczema, mild asthma, very nasty urticaria) but at the end of last year I had a really bad bout of CFS (or CFS like symptoms) and then early this year my allergies started flaring up terribly. My doctor put me on prednisone which I was on and off for six weeks until I could get to see the allergist who essentially told me my only allergy was dustmites and there was nothing he could do - gave me steroid creams.
699217 tn?1323438700 For me prednisone was both a lifesaver and the devil drug. I have Crohn's disease and if it were't for the pred I probably would have lost a good portion of my colon. Then I became prednisone dependant and every time I would try to wean down I got so sick-once my adrenals crashed and I ended up in the hospital for 2 weeks. I was never on a very high dose-maybe 40 to begin with and then tapered down.
