Avatar f tn A stinging, itchy rash develops within minutes after a short period (less than 30 minutes) of sun exposure. The rash may look like weals and be red and swollen. If large areas of the body are affected, the loss of fluid into the skin may result in light-headedness, headache, nausea and vomiting. You can start tapering off the steroid medications, treat any allergic outbreaks symptomatically with anti-histamines and Calamine lotion and cool compresses.
1434400 tn?1283517385 I had minor inflammation in my chest and was getting horrible nasty low grade fevers from sun exposure. I started taking 10mg of Prednisone once a day and I got 2 significant malar rashes that came with 24 hours of fever and massive body aches. Then ended up in the hospital for a major Pleurisy attack with possible blood clot in my lungs. So I have been taken off the steriods. We are not sure why my body reacted like that, who knows, maybe it would have been worse with out the Prednisone.
Avatar m tn ON JUNE 25,2012 I STARTED C/O OF JOINT PAIN, FEVER,HAIR LOSS AND FATIGUE. I AM FLARING AND BACK ON PREDNISONE. I AM 67Y/O AND HAVE RA AS WELL. I WAS DIAGNOSED WITH LUPUS 4 YEARS AGO.
Avatar m tn I consistently get a itchy, red, blistery rash after sun exposure. It doesn't really have to be that much exposure and it just started in the last couple years. I'm 30. Does anyone know what this is and if it's serious? What can I do to relieve the intense itch? Is it dangerous?
Avatar f tn t think I would be using a topical fkea medication on her if there is no flea problem. Sun can aggravate these conditions so I would limit her sun exposure. Ask your Vet about a sun screen made for dogs. What food are you feeding? You might want to try a fish based food with no grains, especially corn. I am sure this is getting costly and wish I could be of more help. Not a fan of steroids but you may need to keep her on them so she gets some relief.
Avatar f tn if my doc prescribes me that med, and i take it, and my photosensitivity does not get better and the sun still makes me terribly sick, where do i go from there? does that mean i have to live like a vampire the rest of my life?? i have had to give alot of things up in my life because of being sick with back problems and just always being sick. the only thing i had left that i liked to do was be outside. i love the sun, always did.
Avatar m tn 3 month ago I had a exposure and after that I was on prednisone for 2 month (during 2 month ago) with a high dose (60 mg per day ), and I took two Elisa test and both came back negative . first on was at 4 weeks after incident (befor using prednisone ) and was negative with 0.6 ( < 1 negative ) and second one was 13 weeks after incident (after 2 months using prednisone ) , and now I'm confused why change the number of negative result after 2 month ?
Avatar n tn Hi, Are you talking about a malignant nodule in the lung? The exposure from the sun will place you at risk for cancers of the skin. While there are cancers of the skin that would have a tendency to metastasize the lung (melanoma), these would usually have a preliminary finding in the skin.
9364788 tn?1403324283 I have seen 25 doctors and am desperate for a solution. Prednisone is the only thing that will take it away and I can not take any more of that. Have tried almost every type of anti-itch antihistamine cream out there. PLEASE HELP - My profile picture is a photo of my arm. SPF clothing etc helps but does not totally protect. I can send more photos if needed.
559187 tn?1330782856 I found out from the MS nurse that the rash I have all over my face, neck, and back is a side effect of my IV Solu-Medrol treatment and the taper dose of prednisone and is not a rash at all, but is acne. I thought the rash was from my sun exposure while in Mexico earlier this week and that the steroids were probably the culprit. So that was half right. But the nurse said it was acne yet it feels more like a rash to me.
149675 tn?1416673133 I was on tx. during the katrina nightmare, heat and sun exposure gave me the worst rash and caused a tremendous amount of itching. Stay out of the sun and heat while on tx.
Avatar m tn We get many questions about the possibility of medications, and particularly steroid medications like prednisone, interfering with the accuracy of HIV tests. This is rarely a problem.
Avatar m tn Welcome to the forum. Thanks for your question. In theory, potent immunosuppressive therapy might delay development of antibody and hence a positive HIV test. However, I stress "in theory": to my knowledge, no such cases have actually been reported in the medical literature. And although you took a hefty dose of prednisone, it's not all that potent compared with other immunosuppressive drugs, and only 5 days treatment is unlikely to have had any effect at all.
Avatar f tn Hi, all: Been diagnosed with SSHL (sudden sensory hearing loss) and tinnitus. I understand that the etiologies are vastly unknown but largely either viral or from ear/middle ear trauma or exposure. I've been put on antiviral Acyclovir. No problem- understand that. But the Prednisone, which of course I am taking and understand that if I don't the hearing loss on the right ear could either worsen or not return, has me a bit on edge.
Avatar m tn I am very active outdoors and would hate to have to stay out of the sun. I use sun screens and still I get this condition.
Avatar f tn I was dx'd in 2004 with RR MS. My flareup back then began with extreme dizziness after a workout at the beach on a hot sunny day and progressed to affect my vision (optic neuritis) / balance. I have been managing my MS very well but a few days ago I went beach around 3:30 pm ( on a lovely sunny day - 82 degrees and cool breeze) and fell asleep in sun. I wasn't overheated or sunburned. When i awoke I had extreme dizziness and fatigue which has been hard to shake.
Avatar f tn actually sun is very beneficial to both you and baby, you need around 20 min of exposure to the sun everyday on your arms and legs, a little more if your dark skinned, your body gets its vitamin D from being exposed to the sun, otherwise you risk having vit D deficiency which isnt good, and you end up by having to take suppliments, just be sure that you dont go out in the hottest part of the day and if you do put on sunscreen :)
Avatar m tn Hi, sorry for my bad English I'm from Korea. I had unprotected sex (vaginal) with a woman and i think she is H+. At about 6 week post exposure I came down with a high fever for one week. At about 1 week before exposure and at about 5 week post exposure I've been on 30 mg/day of prednisone for one week. Do you think it 's HIGH DOES and delay window period ? At 14+ Weeks I took a Rapid Test and Elisa Test (murex ag/ab combination) negative. Is it Conclusive ?

Avatar m tn It is possible that you have/had sun poisioning. Any antibiotics will add to the harsh exposure of the sun. That is why they tell you to try to avoid the sun if you can or use a high level of sunscreen if you are out in the sun. If you are not feeling better soon, you should see your doctor. Please be careful while in the sun while on these medications. It can cause some major symptoms not to mention the higher risk of sun burn. Hope you feel better soon.
Avatar m tn I am a immunocompromised patient suffering from a autoimmune condition and taking 10mg of prednisone daily tapered down since September of 2013. With this information: 1. Would the prednisone delay seroconversion? Also would this delay symptoms of herpes? 2. Being immunocompromised would the symptoms be more severe in outbreak? Also being on the lookout closely would one know they are having an outbreak? 3. What is the time frame normally to see a outbreak from an exposure?
Avatar n tn I was given 3 50mg, pills of prednisone to be taken within 12 hours. As a preventative for an allergic reaction to iodine for a ct scan. After the last pill my breathing is tight, more coughing than usual and wheezing. Could this be caused from the prednisone? How long before it's out of my system?
