158939 tn?1274915197 I know that long-term use of prednisone can block thyroid absorption but would a 6-day course of prednisone (METHYLPREDNISOLONE 4MG DOSPAK 21) block absorption enough to bump a TSH from 0.11 to 22.06 even while taking the required thyroid supplements???? The last time I *had* to get my TSH this high (for RAI) it took me 4 weeks and the low iodine diet to get my TSH this high (and I still had remaining thyroid tissue). BTW - my Free T3 1.8 (down from 3.9 three months ago) and my Free T4 .
662361 tn?1225334507 ve suffered pretty awful side-effects (Lucid nightmares and full-blown night terrors, cold sweats, worsening of the depression, suicidal thoughts that I'd not had prior to the meds, restless/agitation/panic/anxiety feelings, heart palpitations, the list goes on and on.) It is for this reason that I am seeking a homeopathic approach to my condition at this time.
Avatar f tn I have Giant Cell Arteritis. My head and eyes hurt everyday even when I take Prednisone. I was told if I don't take Prednisone I could go blind. I feel alone and frightened. I am use to chronic pain and illness but this illness really scares me. My head and eyes are so sore I cry. I rarely took medication because I don't tolerate it well but now I find myself with ten perscriptions to ward off the side effects of Prednisone and the pain.
Avatar f tn The prednisone I was on for about five months and it was about eight and a half months before I had a lump again. So it was a little before the flare up but not as long as I had hoped. At the end I may consider the mastectomy if that seems to be the only diffinitive cure for it. I'm still on the fence for that thought.
Avatar f tn I don't have nightmares, but I do have very weird dreams. And it's the same time every night! I wake up every morning about 4:30 and when I go back to sleep, that's when I have them.
Avatar f tn I've been having nightmares for days and waking up crying and sweating. I can't sleep at night, so I end up going to bed around 3am and waking up around noon. I'm on vacations now so it doesn't actually affect my daily schedule, but I feel I don't seize the day waking up so late. Any natural alternatives to sleeping pills? I'm not very fond of sleeping drugs...
Avatar f tn If you eat food with sugar right before bed they may trigger nightmares. Try to drink hot tea and light a candle and relax before bed. Find some relaxation music to listen too while you drink hot tea with honey.
Avatar f tn I am 22 weeks pregnant and I have been having horrible nightmares. These nightmares feel so real, that sometimes I wake up and have to convince myself that its not true. And it has come to the point where I am feeling hatred towards my husband over past experiences between us. Things we have already worked through. Is this normal and how do I deal with it. I don't want to lose my husband over stupid dreams.
Avatar f tn i've been having dreams and nightmares for a week solid. Can't get into my doctor for another 12 says. They are going from adandoment, which will never happen. To creepy, to things that make little sense. Waking me up, I don't feel rested. I'm scared to sleep, and I don't know what to do. Other then try and escape reality, or close off from everyone. I'm going crazy, and honestly I don't know what to do anymore.
219241 tn?1413537765 aside from that, just had TT, RAI treatment, am sleeping 18 hours a day and having horrible nightmares. whoooopppeeeee......and to think everyone I tell I have thyroid cancer always says, if you have to have cancer that's the best one to have...............oh yeah. anyway, commiserations on your situation; i am hoping you will have sweet dreams soon.
Avatar f tn Try not to eat or drink anything (other than water) an hour before you go to sleep it should help with the nightmares and with the other part of not being able to sleep my body pillow has become my best friend I can put it under parts that ache
513504 tn?1214171994 i find them very disturbing as they are always in color and and involve family members who are living and dead. i dont think ive had one night where i didnt dream atleast 4 nightmares in a row. can these nightmares be because of my bi polar ? or am i just cracking up? ive tried talking to shrinks in past. and its not for me ive always felt worse when i leave than when i got there. is my past and troubling childhood and life showing itself in my dreams?
Avatar m tn 4 months ago I began a therapy with prednisone (25 mg per day) and one month lather I got tested for hiv 1-2, the result hopefully was negative and all my blood exams were normal (but antibodies against HBV positive, without virus). My doctors said me that hiv is not a problem for me. However i began to worry again because it was been told me that prednisone is an immunosupressant and I fear that it could hide my hiv antibodies. What do you think about? Sould I have to get another test?
Avatar f tn I use to have nightmares as well and for some reason they were more intense than regular nightmares i had but then I stopped having them and now i have weird stupid dreams and im also having problems sleeping as well im 39 weeks and i cant sleep for nothing!
Avatar n tn I would not be concerned about someone taking prednisone having sex and passing it to their partner. Are you allergic to prednisone for why you are asking?
Avatar f tn gov/pubmed/114570 Abstract The effect of exogenous prednisone on serum thyrotropin (TSH), thyroxine (T4), and triiodothyronine (T3) concentrations was investigated in four patients with non-functioning thyroid glands receiving T4 replacement therapy. Orally administered prednisone, in a dose of 20 mg each day for nine days, resulted in a significant decrease in mean serum TSH levels (p less than 0.01) without significant changes in levels of serum T4, T3, and thyroxine binding globulin (TBG).
3061629 tn?1405458990 I took prednisone 60mg plus 2 steroid dose packs plus a short acting and long acting steroid injection in the past 6 weeks. I have been off all steroids x 3 weeks and am suffering from weakness, tremors, shaking inside and out, feelings of anxiety, shortness of breath, muscle cramps in my legs and feet and extreme lethargy. I'm thinking this must be an adrenal issue. Has anyone had these symptoms after prednisone? I am so anxious and shaky from mid morning until late afternoon.
Avatar m tn We get many questions about the possibility of medications, and particularly steroid medications like prednisone, interfering with the accuracy of HIV tests. This is rarely a problem.
Avatar m tn I am on Trileptal, Lamictal, and Luvox. The only reason why I am really confused is because we haven't made any medication changes for quite a while now. I was very stable for a while, and still am emotionally, but these nightmares and sweats are getting a bit concerning. I just don't like not knowing what is going on with my body. Can your medication start giving you side effects even after being on them for a long time.
1150481 tn?1270490136 But since my menstruation I have been having my periods like clockwork and y dint it come the first month i tuk prednisone? Please advice if it can cause changes. Now my periods are regular also I have reduced the dose to 7.5mg. I am ttcing for almost 6 months now. I am wondering how long can I be on 7.5mg of prednisone. How long is it safe? considering the horrible side effects.
Avatar f tn Read all the side effects of prednisone, it might be that it is related to the prednisone or prednisone is causing the water retension to be worse... just a thought. Keep us posted of your experience ok?? It might be helpful for all of us that have AIH for future reference and to compare our experiences. Best Wishes!
902019 tn?1249861414 Maxing out at 200mg per day of Imuran with 400mg hydroxychloroquine and 60mg prednisone was of no use for me. Addition of rituximab induced a 14 month remission. I think Imuran works for some people and not others. Even at 200mg Imuran, I noticed no side effects.
Avatar m tn On the way out I talked to a lady there and I told her I was bipoler and was on prednisone for joint pain. She told me that prednisone can bring on a psychotic phase in normal people and with a pre-existing condition it can be really ugly. Has anyone ever heard of such a thing?
Avatar n tn Short term low doses of Prednisone is not harmful unless you already suffer from emotional instability. If your eyesight gets blurry and/or you feel emotionally distressed while taking Prednisone contact your doctor immediately.
Avatar f tn When I think that I have a disease I will have nightmares about it. Seriously before i was so scared I had cancer I was having nightmares that I had it... I have not heard voices in my head, You will be fine. seek help from a doctor if you feel like you truly need to. Maybe try CBT therapy, meds, meditation, etc.
