Avatar n tn My eye surgeon prescribed prednisolone and Nevanac (brand name) drops after my cateract surgery. Prednisolone is a corticosteroid, and Nevenac is an NSAID (a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug -- I like to think of it as "ibuprofin for the eyes"). Both are quite commonly used after surgical procedures, and both address the redness and inflammation that can occur after surgery. I'm sure Dr. Vosoghi will comment further as to side effects.
Avatar n tn I remember reading somewhere on the net that to help minimise some of the side effects of Prednisolone it is a good idea to take calcium supplements when taking the Prednisolone, I ran this past my G.P yesterday and she agreed that it perhaps would be a good idea to take the calcium supplements. I have also been in touch with Asthma U.K regards what medication is the RIGHT medication regards Prednisolone intake. I was advised that it is best to take a large dose of Predisolone e.g.
1309535 tn?1297200280 I have taken her to the ER 3 times over the past 2 weeks to Stanford Hospital. You can tell they hadn't seen a case like this in years. They didn't know what to do w/her. They didn't let her stay over night at all. I had to take her home and take care of her myself. They first had me give her Naproxen, then a Rheumotologist came to see her after taking her in for the third time. Then she switched her to Prednisolone and Raditindine.
611067 tn?1458591483 Well, I probably shoudn't start his thread - but here goes! What do you think of Cap & Trade - it passed the house today! I COMPLETELY DISAGREE! It will cost all of us a lot of money and it will send big corporations to other countries and that is NOT going to fix the economy! We've already become a consumer nation rather than an industrial nation and that's one reason we've lost so many jobs - they've all gone to other countries.
Avatar f tn wow cause everything I've read so far say's prednisolone is a commen med used. Prednisolone is still from the same group of meds as cortef they are both glucocorticoid but one is called hydrocortisone and the other is called corticosteroid. Avatar m tn this concerns me, if what you mean is PREDNISONE (the canine variety of prednisolone). How long has your dog been taking prednisolone? This is a very powerful drug that should not be given long term. It can cause some severe and very damaging side-effects. Prednisolone does not cause or treat seizures, but it can create some severe symptoms and primaryt conditions that can lead to a dog having seizures.
Avatar f tn I've been told to go on prednisolone for 3 months or so in order to bring down my slightly elevated liver enzymes. I am worried that the prednisolone might react with the oroxine therapy which I am taking daily for my Hashimotos hypothyroidism. The amount of prednisolone is 25mg per day for 1 week, then 10 mg per day for 2 weeks, then 7.5mg per day for 4 weeks, then 5 mg per day until i see the doctor in 3 months time.
Avatar f tn Prednisone is activated by enzymes in the liver to turn into prednisolone. They do have similar uses but prednisolone is more readily absorbed by the body. Prednisolone is usually used when there is liver toxicity or liver failure involved. There is no great difference between them, other than the above, however ... it is normal practice to begin at a low dosage, rising to a level that's appropriate for the weight of the dog.
1196922 tn?1265100570 t have access to prednisolone which I have used in the past. 5629063 tn?1371241247 34 mm/hr , so a new test shows : CRP: 11 mg/L, RF : 3.4 IU/ml, Anti CCP : 8.5 U/ml ( negetive ) . please inform me what is the problem?
Avatar f tn Something similar is a glucosamine/chondroitin combination. Again, be sure it's formulated for cats. In humans, both the avocado-soybean unsaponifiables approach and the glucosamine/chondroitin approach seem to have about equal effectiveness. While talking to the vet, also check about prednisolone is not being considered. It's a steroid and often given to dogs, maybe it's not done that much in cats? But it reduces inflammation.
Avatar n tn Also, for prednisolone and prednisone, the doctor doesn't just"advise" you to taper.
Avatar f tn I have been taking prednisolone on off for years for sinusitis/allergies and have read some people have started taking methotrexate for Rheumatoid Arthritis. Does anyone know if this would also work for chronic sinusitis conditions?
Avatar f tn m on Levaquin. He has also prescribed Prednisolone for a six day time span to help open things up. I have had problems with my ears and sinus's since I was very little. I currently get allergy injections, take Rhinoquart Aqua and Claritin for my allergies. We were very hopeful that these steps would help keep this problem form happening again and again.
