Avatar f tn Iv recently had a re activation of toxoplasmosis in my eye for which I was put on prednisolone. I started by IV 300mg for three days at the hospital, then put at 50mg for 7 days, 40mg for 7 days, 30mg for 7 days... Until now I am at 10mg on my fourth day before I get to 5mg for 7 days and stop the steroids. My question is I am getting a heart rate everyday that's over 100bpm most of the time. Will this stop at 5mg? Or is this normal?
Avatar n tn I would see a different doctor soon or, at least get a second opinion. Not knowing what dose you were on and just assuming you were started on prednisolone either Iv or pill form in the hospital until the time it was discontinued without taper, I would put my worry out of my misery by seeing another doctor. Especially, since you described "horrible withdrawal symptoms" (again, not knowing what they are) besides the anxiety you are experiencing, which is also concerning.
Avatar n tn t sleep, and the hives were really bad this morning, so we went to the hospital, where they gave her an IV with antihistamine and cortisone. The Dr. prescribed two type of antihistamines, loratadine and dexchlorpheniramine, as well as a once daily steroid prednisolone. A couple hours after returning from the hospital, the hives worsened. They are spreading across her body and the itching in unbearable. Solarcaine, aloe, cool baths, etc. have little effect.

Avatar m tn My neuro has given me oral methylprednisolone in tablet form to take in case of a relapse. I have requested for the tablets as I live in a third-world country and to get the IV medrol is not always accessible. Here is my dilemma: Each tablet is 16mg. If I get an acute relapse, I need to take 500mg per day for 5 days. This means that I will have to take approximately 31 tablets per day for 5 days (then taper down).
Avatar m tn this concerns me, if what you mean is PREDNISONE (the canine variety of prednisolone). How long has your dog been taking prednisolone? This is a very powerful drug that should not be given long term. It can cause some severe and very damaging side-effects. Prednisolone does not cause or treat seizures, but it can create some severe symptoms and primaryt conditions that can lead to a dog having seizures.
Avatar f tn I've been told to go on prednisolone for 3 months or so in order to bring down my slightly elevated liver enzymes. I am worried that the prednisolone might react with the oroxine therapy which I am taking daily for my Hashimotos hypothyroidism. The amount of prednisolone is 25mg per day for 1 week, then 10 mg per day for 2 weeks, then 7.5mg per day for 4 weeks, then 5 mg per day until i see the doctor in 3 months time.
Avatar f tn Prednisone is activated by enzymes in the liver to turn into prednisolone. They do have similar uses but prednisolone is more readily absorbed by the body. Prednisolone is usually used when there is liver toxicity or liver failure involved. There is no great difference between them, other than the above, however ... it is normal practice to begin at a low dosage, rising to a level that's appropriate for the weight of the dog.
Avatar f tn Hi! I'm new to this site. Have had RR MS since 1981. I'm now 65years old so have done pretty well. Have just been discharged from hospital after 3weeks with aspiration pneumonia. It's the 2nd bout this year & became life threatening because I had a severe reaction to the iv antibiotic tazocin/piperacillin. My big worry is that the neuro says I have probable bulbar palsy. This affects the cranial nerves responsible for swallowing, speech etc etc.
1196922 tn?1265100570 t have access to prednisolone which I have used in the past. (2) I have had it for two weeks now, and with the Maxidex I am treating myself with a very outdated (2 years) eye dialator called isopto-homatropine 5%every other day? Can you make any recommendations! Thank you kindly for your help!!
5629063 tn?1371241247 34 mm/hr , so a new test shows : CRP: 11 mg/L, RF : 3.4 IU/ml, Anti CCP : 8.5 U/ml ( negetive ) . please inform me what is the problem?
Avatar f tn Something similar is a glucosamine/chondroitin combination. Again, be sure it's formulated for cats. In humans, both the avocado-soybean unsaponifiables approach and the glucosamine/chondroitin approach seem to have about equal effectiveness. While talking to the vet, also check about prednisolone is not being considered. It's a steroid and often given to dogs, maybe it's not done that much in cats? But it reduces inflammation.
Avatar m tn Im 26, I was on steroids (prednisolone) a few months back, and a couple of months after id finished them i started getting stretch marks on my bum and top of my leg. They have got worse and now are really bad and I seem to be getting more and have them coming on my breasts now too. I dont know if its the steroids that could have caused it and some sort of after effect, of because i put on half a stone.
Avatar f tn I have been taking prednisolone on off for years for sinusitis/allergies and have read some people have started taking methotrexate for Rheumatoid Arthritis. Does anyone know if this would also work for chronic sinusitis conditions?
Avatar f tn m on Levaquin. He has also prescribed Prednisolone for a six day time span to help open things up. I have had problems with my ears and sinus's since I was very little. I currently get allergy injections, take Rhinoquart Aqua and Claritin for my allergies. We were very hopeful that these steps would help keep this problem form happening again and again.
Avatar m tn hello , I had an exposure 11 weeks ago and used prednisolone between weeks 8 to 11 , and after that got a negative ag/ab elisa hiv test . (11 weeks after exposure) . my question is that :as prednisone is an immunosupressant , could it hide my hiv antibodies ? if yes , how about hiv ag ? and is my hiv ag/ab test after 11 weeks (with 3 weeks use prednisolone) accurate ?
Avatar f tn Did you wean off the prednisolone? It is important to do that, as suddenly stopping can cause kidney damage. I strongly recommend you go see a doctor. Many people who stop steroids can have adrenal failure. It wouldn't hurt to get your ovaries checked out by ultrasound either.
665797 tn?1225283365 My husband has suffered with cluster headaches for 12 years, he was prescribed Prednisolone in a high dose then reducing, the headaches would stop. He did this for a few years, but unfortunately he started to have chronic cluster headache for about a year, he tried & tried the prednisolone but this did not work.
Avatar n tn They told me I had a allergic reaction to something and gave me predisone and benadryl through IV. I went home and slept great, woke up today with a sore throat. I took my first presidone pill about two- three hours ago and have been experiencing extremely bad abdominal pain. Just when it seems to let and feels as though it is going away.... it comes back full force. Is this a normal side effect to this pill?
