Avatar f tn I have had a sinus and ear infection for a month and a half now. It's extremely frustrating and can be very painful at times. My doctor had put me on a regimen of Zythromax and now I'm on Levaquin. He has also prescribed Prednisolone for a six day time span to help open things up. I have had problems with my ears and sinus's since I was very little. I currently get allergy injections, take Rhinoquart Aqua and Claritin for my allergies.
Avatar m tn Later 2 around in 12th week i affected with bels palsy and it confirmed by doctor and he gave prednisolone for 15 days and i took that and now it cured. And I stopped the all tablet and now for the past 2 days i had rash on my both shoulders and white dots on ear side and neck and it is painless. I again met doctor he said this may be due to allergic to prednisolone. And now at the end of 93rd day i tested retroquick test for HIV and it came Negative.
Avatar f tn The normal treatment is cortef - which is more like what the body makes. It also has a shorter half-life so the body is allowed to sleep so you have to take it twice a day. Preds have a half-life that is longer than one day, hence more side-effects, but more active people and those with other diseases concurrent with the adrenal may need it.
Avatar f tn The half-life of a drug is how long it takes for half of it to be eliminated from the bloodstream. Hope that helps.
6298176 tn?1380134459 It has a very long half life, though I can't give you specifics. The dose and how long you were on it does factor in. Your doctor should be able to help you with your questions on this.

Avatar m tn the vet cant figure out what is causing this.Blood work shows nothing major. Was put on prednisolone 4 days ago 20mg twice a day, no more twitches but seems not like her happy self, could I cut in half and still get benefit of no twitches but my happy dog back.If anyone knows what could be causing her to almost have seizure like episodes I would love to know.
Avatar n tn Prednisolone was for heat rash and my itchy dots. Today I reduce to 10mg a day and tomorrow 10mg and next 5mg and that's it. I've been taking Prednisolone for 3 and half days so far. The main problem at the moment is just the burning face and neck, specially cheeks just under my eyes and under the chin. The burning once goes from one cheek to another or to the neck or everywhere at the same time. Is it normal in such cases? Thank you.

Avatar f tn Clifford, For the past six to seven months my pitbull/boxer mix has been dealing with a recurring outbreak of small, itchy, and inflamed bumps that appear on the lower half of her abdomen and vulva. We have been to the vet several times, and each time we are given a course of prednisolone, and an antibiotic. The vet believes that the reason for this is an allergic reaction to something, which then becomes staph.
907515 tn?1251727972 but every decade or thereabouts i get a severe crazy out of control flare up and right now i m going thru one of those... i m on prednisolone and diclofenac (only diclofenac works on me when it is severe, no other NSAID does)... but i hate the side effects of prednisolone!!! i just wonder if anyone out here also suffers from behcet's and has this kind of 'arthritis' that doesn't show up in RA tests?
Avatar f tn After her having several visits to the GP and with my persistent concerns my Mother was prescribed a dose of Prednisolone, 40mg for 5 days. My Mother responded really well to the prednisolone and has not coughed since she has completed the course last Friday (7th November 2008). The only draw-back to the Prednisolone has been that she has experienced steroid induced diabetes which has now reverted. She has also continued with her inhalers and feels more relief from them now.
1298409 tn?1272846202 This is my 4th attempt @ IVF (with ICSI). This time I was prescribed Prednisolone (a steroid) 10 mg twice daily, even though no tests have been done to rule in or out an autoimmune disease. My dr says that since I failed 3 times before, it might help. Does anyone have any experience with Prednisolone or any other steroid and a successful outcome? Me 34, DH 35 married almost 10 yrs Male factor infertility 3 prior attempts @ IVF, all failed. Latest attempt: ET on Oct.
Avatar m tn this concerns me, if what you mean is PREDNISONE (the canine variety of prednisolone). How long has your dog been taking prednisolone? This is a very powerful drug that should not be given long term. It can cause some severe and very damaging side-effects. Prednisolone does not cause or treat seizures, but it can create some severe symptoms and primaryt conditions that can lead to a dog having seizures.
Avatar f tn I've been told to go on prednisolone for 3 months or so in order to bring down my slightly elevated liver enzymes. I am worried that the prednisolone might react with the oroxine therapy which I am taking daily for my Hashimotos hypothyroidism. The amount of prednisolone is 25mg per day for 1 week, then 10 mg per day for 2 weeks, then 7.5mg per day for 4 weeks, then 5 mg per day until i see the doctor in 3 months time.
Avatar f tn Prednisone is activated by enzymes in the liver to turn into prednisolone. They do have similar uses but prednisolone is more readily absorbed by the body. Prednisolone is usually used when there is liver toxicity or liver failure involved. There is no great difference between them, other than the above, however ... it is normal practice to begin at a low dosage, rising to a level that's appropriate for the weight of the dog.
1084115 tn?1385228589 The mean half-life for multiple doses in the body is about 12 days, but very long-term kinetics are dominated by the kinetics of RBCs (half-life 40 days). RBCs store ribavirin for the lifetime of the cells, releasing it into the body's systems when old cells are degraded in the spleen.
