Avatar n tn I was prescribed prednisolone eye drops 3 times a day for a month then twice a day for another month and once a day for a month. Everytime I stop I get severe eye pain and my doctor tells me to go back on the drops for another week and then stop. It has been a while now since my surgery, today I stopped the drops after a week and woke up with severe eye pain and senistivity to light. How do I get off these drops and what is causing my eye pain each time I stop the drops?

Avatar m tn Has anyone been prescribed Nevanac eye drops for post Vitrectomy/ERM peel surgery ? I was prescribed to take this for 3 months (didn't even have the surgery yet) but the online medical information on it says not to take it for more than 14 days or there could be serious side effects. I'm not big on "blind faith" with what any Doctor just says, especially when it contradicts the warnings to this extreme.
Avatar f tn t relieve the pink eye or excessive tears. Now I am putting Vigamox followed by Prednisolone drops. My pink eye appears to be gone, but not the tears. So, if after your long battle with this, have you found the answers you've been looking for? Are your eyes back to normal? And could you tell me your outcome? Did a Doctor finally test your tears? I appreciate any feedback you might give.
Avatar m tn she felt some irritation.. suddenly her one of the eye got reddish.. she went for treatment, and after some days, the eye came back to normal. Avatar f tn I had a follow-up visit with the retinal specialist concerning the retinal swelling and double vision in my right eye. As reported earlier, I have bilateral open-angle glaucoma and cataracts, the cataract in the right eye having been removed in 2005 at which time the lens fell into the back of the eye, followed by vitrectomy in 2006 and an intraocular implant in 2007. I now have retinal swelling which is being treated with Prednisolone and Nevanac, 3X daily, right eye.
Avatar n tn The doctor prescribed prednisolone eye drops with a tapering dose over a week or so. This seemed to take care of the issue. However, a couple of weeks later and after going off of the eye drops as prescribed, my eye flared up with the same symptoms. The doctor recommended the same treatment. The eye once again improved. 1 week after the second incident, I was nearly tapered entirely off of the eye drops. However, my top eyelid became quite swollen and painful.
Avatar m tn If its pink eye too, then need for any medication it will go away by body's natural healing property (usually within a week). You can fasten the healing by cleaning eyes areas (lid margins and other areas around eye) with warm compress & diluted baby shampoo (which help to loosen the dirt & other debris).
Avatar n tn My eye doctor sent me to a cornea specialist and after an exam he asked me to keep taking the acyclovir tablets (1 pill - 3x a day) and prescribed Pred Forte eye drops (Prednisolone Acetate 1%) 4x a day. Reading about this stereoid, I saw that it is not to be used on infections caused by virus (eg. Herpes). What should I do????? Thank you.
Avatar n tn now dr has advised to use steriod prednisolone for treating retinal detachment. my question is that is it safe to use steriods??
1413519 tn?1281818201 He used the eye wash station and reported it. This has happened before, possibly 2 other times in the past 10 years. Past times resulted in mild eye infection that was treated by our doctor w/ drops. This time he got a severe infection that he treated for 2 weeks with little results. He was sent to a specialist. Treatment plan, antibiotic drops, steroid drops, as well as some type of drops to help his pupil to shrink.
Avatar m tn My suggestions would be to see a Eye MD specialzing in retina/vitreous for special tests of your eye to be sure there are no difficult to see retinal tears/detachments. Ask the retina MD about pilocarpine, I don't think they will feel you should be on it. Also if you have access to a Eye MD that specializes in glaucoma I would see one as soon as possible. You need a test called gonioscopy, and will need ongoing management of the pressure in your eye.
Avatar n tn My eye surgeon prescribed prednisolone and Nevanac (brand name) drops after my cateract surgery. Prednisolone is a corticosteroid, and Nevenac is an NSAID (a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug -- I like to think of it as "ibuprofin for the eyes"). Both are quite commonly used after surgical procedures, and both address the redness and inflammation that can occur after surgery. I'm sure Dr. Vosoghi will comment further as to side effects.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed 4 days ago with episcleritis in my left eye but the doctor seemed concerned with scleritis as well. I am taking prednisolone 4x day and and 400mg 2x day. Now my other eye is feeling the same irritation and beginning to get deep pain so I started drops in that eye too. With this treatment when can I expect relief? Preliminary tests suggest the possibility of something autoimmune (1:640 ANA speckled). Waiting for more in depth tests next week and eye specialist next week too.
Avatar m tn my eye doctor did a laser on my right eye and prescribed a drop called prednisolone if it was not shaken before use for the first two times will it matter? and if a drop was put in the wrong eye will it harm my eye?
Avatar m tn t really run many tests, he said It was likely dry eye, (which had started three-four weeks before I had seen him) So Ive been taking these eye drops for two weeks. Three different brands, two perscribed and one store bought and recommended by the doctor. I put a moist cloth on my eyes when I do try to sleep. I havent experienced relief, not even the slightest. However, For the past 3 weeks I've had insane eye presssure. It gets worse and worse. I cant sleep anymore because Its so bad.
Avatar m tn My only pain relief (pain that radiates from eyeball to nasal sinuses) is when I use Prednisolone AC 1% 5ml eye drops. I want to know if it is ok for someone with scleral problems like scleral thinning to take these drops, and if they would help the condition in any way. Thanks, in advance.
Avatar n tn I notice that I had redness in my left eye. I went to the eye doctor and he examine the eye and stated that I had episcleritis. The first two weeks I was put on anti-inflammatory drops, which did not help. This past week I was put on Prednisolone and over the counter ibuprofen and it has help tremendously. However, I still have just a little redness. Should I be worried?
Avatar m tn Dogs don't do well on long term steroid treatment. Are you sure it's prednisone/prednisolone that he's taking? What is he taking the steroid for? Did he have seizures BEFORE starting the corticosteroid? How long has he been taking the corticosteroid? These are all important questions before an answer can be attempted.
