Dogs don't do well on long term steroid treatment. Are you sure it's prednisone/prednisolone that he's taking? What is he taking the steroid for? Did he have seizures BEFORE starting the corticosteroid? How long has he been taking the corticosteroid? These are all important questions before an answer can be attempted.

He went to the vet for an ear infection and was prescribed prednisolone 20mg. When he got home he started to become dizzy, yelping and unable to walk properly. He's holding his head up and refuses to lye down. It looks like he's in a lot of pain. Does this sound familiar to anybody?

I recently had one of my dogs treated for a disc problem in her neck. She was given a decreasing dose of Prednisone to take over 10 days which helped her considerably. Now, my other dog (same size and age) is showing symptoms of the same condition. I want to try the Pred on him but I don't have any left. Instead, I have a large bottle of Prednisolone. If I gave Ruby 40 mg's of PredNISONE, would I now give 40mg of PredNISOLONE? Or would the dose be different?

I'm going to check out Chewy for the Dasuquin, and will call the vet tomorrow about prednisolone. Our other cat was on it for years for IBD, I can't see why it couldn't be tried for this one, even if it was just for a short while.

The increased drinking is a marker for prednisolone, as it is a common side effect, however kidney disease can also cause this (as many of us know). With prolonged use, prednisolone can cause both Cushings and/or Diabetes, so it should not be prescribed over a long period. I am very concerned your vet stopped the prednisone suddenly, as this could have caused the dog to become seriously and potentially fatally ill. Prednisilone should never be stopped abruptly.

This did not work either, so the ivomec was increased to 2ml and a treatment of 5mg prednisolone was given for one week along with a treatment of 1 biotin daily. At first this seemed to help but after she came off of the prednisolone she started to lose hair again and the flakes started again. 6 months ago my18 year old standard yorkshire terrier was diagnosed by the vet to have Bronchitis (Pneumonia) and pancreatitis For these conditions the vet prescribed 1 10mg Veraflox daily for 3 months, 2 50mg vivitonin, and 2 5mgprednisolone steroid daily for the rest of his life. He also has the royal caine gastrointestinal dry dog food.

I am worried that the prednisolone might react with the oroxine therapy which I am taking daily for my Hashimotos hypothyroidism. The amount of prednisolone is 25mg per day for 1 week, then 10 mg per day for 2 weeks, then 7.5mg per day for 4 weeks, then 5 mg per day until i see the doctor in 3 months time. The liver doctor has also put me on ursodeoxycholic acid tablets 1 tablet two times a day.

So we will see how that goes. She was tested earlier in the year for the basic allergies like to cats, dogs, eggs etc and they all came back negative. Maybe I will have her tested again.

I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis about 5 years ago, I'm 24 years old right now, RA engaged my left ankle and my doctor prescribed prednisolone for me (six 5mg pill per a day) during my hospitalization as well as chloroquine, Folic Acid and calcium D. Later 2 around in 12th week i affected with bels palsy and it confirmed by doctor and he gave prednisolone for 15 days and i took that and now it cured. And I stopped the all tablet and now for the past 2 days i had rash on my both shoulders and white dots on ear side and neck and it is painless. I again met doctor he said this may be due to allergic to prednisolone. And now at the end of 93rd day i tested retroquick test for HIV and it came Negative.

m sure there are many uses for prednisolone (an oral steroid.) I have had it prescribed for my bronchitis. t have access to prednisolone which I have used in the past. (2) I have had it for two weeks now, and with the Maxidex I am treating myself with a very outdated (2 years) eye dialator called isopto-homatropine 5%every other day? Can you make any recommendations! Thank you kindly for your help!!

Also, for prednisolone and prednisone, the doctor doesn't just"advise" you to taper.
