prednisolone eye drops for dogs

i may have taken ofloxacin and prednisolone eye drops in my eye 5 times in a day instead of the 4 times like i was supposed to do.will it cause any harm?

Has anyone been prescribed Nevanac eye drops for post Vitrectomy/ERM peel surgery ? I was prescribed to take this for 3 months (didn't even have the surgery yet) but the online medical information on it says not to take it for more than 14 days or there could be serious side effects. I'm not big on "blind faith" with what any Doctor just says, especially when it contradicts the warnings to this extreme.

For the cataract surgery, it is every 2 hours!!! Eye drops, eye drops and more eye drops. Then more eye drops for the dry eye that the other drops cause. On and on. No end.

I have been on Prednisolone eye drops since December 8th 3 times a day for a week than 1 time a day for a week. I'm on the last week I took it this morning but it's weird now my eyes are still burning and I'm so confused right now because my eyes actually stop burning last Wednesday and my eyes been fine until today.What should I do.Tomorrow is my last day taking the Prednisolone eye drops.

I just had eye surgery. Doctor prescribed 3 different eye drop medicines for a week. Can anyone tell me what each are for? A friend told me some were dangerous to my eye? Is this true?

My eye doctor sent me to a cornea specialist and after an exam he asked me to keep taking the acyclovir tablets (1 pill - 3x a day) and prescribed Pred Forte eye drops (Prednisolone Acetate 1%) 4x a day. Reading about this stereoid, I saw that it is not to be used on infections caused by virus (eg. Herpes). What should I do????? Thank you.

He was sent to a specialist. Treatment plan, antibiotic drops, steroid drops, as well as some type of drops to help his pupil to shrink. Although his redness has diminished, his pupil is HUGE and he has very poor vision from that eye. This is after about 2 1/2 weeks of incident and 1 week of specialist treatment plan. The doctor prescribed prednisolone eye drops with a tapering dose over a week or so. This seemed to take care of the issue. However, a couple of weeks later and after going off of the eye drops as prescribed, my eye flared up with the same symptoms. The doctor recommended the same treatment. The eye once again improved. 1 week after the second incident, I was nearly tapered entirely off of the eye drops. However, my top eyelid became quite swollen and painful.

Can I use restasis eye drops on my dog? The vet I use to have made his own eye drops for her and made her eye worse and I live in a small rural community and he's the only vet in the area so don't really want to trust him again.

This is a follow up to my orignal post of recurring left eye pain following cataract surgery in February of 2012. I had my eye dr appt yesterday and my left eye was still a bit swollen so he prescribed Prednisolone OP 1% 4x a day for 7 days. He looked behind the eye and saw nothing irregular but he couldn't explain why my eyelid is suddenly drooping since I hadn't been on any steroid drops for almost 2 weeks. The left eyelid Ptosis is 3mm and left pupil is larger than the right.

I have an 8 yr old yorkie with severe dry eye. She has had it for several yrs and did pretty good. I was putting 4 kinds of eye drops in her eyes as often as possible. The last 3 or 4 mos her eye has stopped responding to the drops. I've changed all the drops that I give her, added liver happy and cod liver oil to her diet, and it has helped some. Does anyone have any other suggestions that I might try. I do not want her to lose her eye sight.

I went to the eye doctor and he examine the eye and stated that I had episcleritis. The first two weeks I was put on anti-inflammatory drops, which did not help. This past week I was put on Prednisolone and over the counter ibuprofen and it has help tremendously. However, I still have just a little redness. Should I be worried?

My eye surgeon prescribed prednisolone and Nevanac (brand name) drops after my cateract surgery. Prednisolone is a corticosteroid, and Nevenac is an NSAID (a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug -- I like to think of it as "ibuprofin for the eyes"). Both are quite commonly used after surgical procedures, and both address the redness and inflammation that can occur after surgery. I'm sure Dr. Vosoghi will comment further as to side effects.

00 am until my last doctors visit which was on May 22nd. My right eye is still dilated but not as severely as before and my eye isn't super sensitive to sunlight. Is it normal for my eye to still be dilated after 5 days of stopping the drops? Keeping in mind that I was using it once daily for three weeks.

I have been using antibiotics (polymyxin B, Gentamicin, dexamethasone) and steroid (prednisolone) eye drops and hypertonic saline 5% solution. Post operative, I have orally taken prednisolone 30mg daily for 3 days, ciprofloxacin tablets 500mg twice a day for 5 days, Acetazolamide 1 tab twice a day for 5 days. After a week I was added Timolol eye drops followed by brimonidine tartrate.

My suggestions would be to see a Eye MD specialzing in retina/vitreous for special tests of your eye to be sure there are no difficult to see retinal tears/detachments. Ask the retina MD about pilocarpine, I don't think they will feel you should be on it. Also if you have access to a Eye MD that specializes in glaucoma I would see one as soon as possible. You need a test called gonioscopy, and will need ongoing management of the pressure in your eye.

I doubt the drops would cause it. Dr. O.

I just went through cataract surgery in November. It can be very worth it but there is a lot of aftercare and there can be complications. My dog did not have any issues other than the cataracts except for some inflammation. After surgery we had to deal with one minor ulceration and one fairly major ulceration. She is now healed and doing great. She is no longer fearful like she became when she couldn't see, and no longer slamming into walls either!

However, I do know that in general prenisolone acetate opthalmic soluction eye drops are prescribed to help combat inflammation. Generally, they are used after eye surgeries to help the eye heal. Since prednisolone is a steroid it can cause an increased susceptibility to infections so it may be paired with an antibiotic such as ciprofloxacin or gatifloxacin. As with all medicines it is important to seek the advice of your physician about its safety.

I have been taking prednisolene in my right eye for two and half weeks following eye surgery. Yesterday, my eyes were dilated in a follow up visit. My right eye is still dilated. The other eye is fine. Is this from the prednisolene? Will it eventually go back to normal? Has anyone else ever experienced this?
