I am taking hypothyroid meds. I have consulted ENT doc and they prescribed prednisolone, methylcobalamin inj. for this. From last week, I have seen some improvement but not at all cure. I felt some inbalance while walking and still there is some ringing sounds. I want to know whether my hearing problem will be a permanent or not. I want to hear any advice regarding my problem.

m wondering how people take oral prednisone, and is that similar to oral methylprednisolone? I know of 20mg prednisone/prednisolone tablets, but I keep reading that some people opt for 1,250mg oral prednisolone per day instead of IV. Thats an extreme amount of tablets per day. Is this correct? Also I read that they take the oral pred over 3 weeks, then again I read that its taken as the IV would be taken i.e - over 3-5 days. Which is correct? Pls help, thank you.

My Orthopedic Doctor has just ordered an MRI and prescribed methylprednisolone in a 6 day back. I am actually feeling pretty good and not as sore. I'm wondering if once the medication has left my system if I will go back to the severe pain or if this has "solved" the undetectable issue of my arm pain? Anyone have any similar experiences??

I have been taking prednisolone on off for years for sinusitis/allergies and have read some people have started taking methotrexate for Rheumatoid Arthritis. Does anyone know if this would also work for chronic sinusitis conditions?

I don't know about the injection, but I did an oral burst and taper of prednisone over 10 days and I felt better for a week than I have all summer! Hope it helps for a long while!

Thank you for your reply. I was recently dx with SLE and was on a short term Prednisone treatment until my follow-up. I'm 37 now but when I was around 13-14yrs old I had "osteochondritis" in my knees and was pretty bad and the Dr. way back then put me on Methylprednisolone for a short time.

I took an HIV 1/2 third generation antibody test at a clinic just 12 days after I stopped taking the Prednisolone (corticosteroid) medication, my results for HIV 1 and 2 antibodies came back negative. Prednisolone was for heat rash and my itchy dots. Today I reduce to 10mg a day and tomorrow 10mg and next 5mg and that's it. I've been taking Prednisolone for 3 and half days so far. For the first few days my pain, tingling, numbless and burning went away. They are now back and more severe than prior to the Solumedrol regime. Is this normal? I actually believe I was on the verge of a flare up prior to starting the Solumedrol and believe I am now in a full blown flare up. I am seeing my Neuro tomorrow and I'm wondering if he will suggest another round of the drug.

Thank you, ladies!! I called my OBGYN's nurse and she said corticosteroids can throw off your period and even make you SKIP a period!! EWW! I hate meds!! Whew. So I'm going to wait on taking a pregnancy test for awhile... But get the word out on those steroids. Ew. :( Thanks again for your help!!

Morphine can cause physical dependence, decreased libido, constipation and addiction. Long term use of Prednisolone can weaken your immune system making you prone for recurrent infections. It can cause osteoporosis, stomach ulcer, cataracts, weight gain; hirsutism etc.A drug is prescribed if the potential benefits outweigh the risks. Discuss your concerns with your attending doctor. So my apt was yesterday after all and was told I have 7 lesions and I've have had it for about 8 years now. They put me on 200mg of prednisone a day for a week and 4 every other day for 3 weeks. I've been feeling a lot better without meds and just started taking today. Should I worry about the side effects?.. He said I have mild ms I'm worried.... Thanks guys.

HIV COMBO test came negative after 46, 70, 124 and 138 days . I have been taking 5 mg Prednisolone daily for last one year . I have below concern 1. Prednisolone can delay antibodies? 2. These results are conclusive or need to repeat at 6 months?
