Avatar m tn m wondering how people take oral prednisone, and is that similar to oral methylprednisolone? I know of 20mg prednisone/prednisolone tablets, but I keep reading that some people opt for 1,250mg oral prednisolone per day instead of IV. Thats an extreme amount of tablets per day. Is this correct? Also I read that they take the oral pred over 3 weeks, then again I read that its taken as the IV would be taken i.e - over 3-5 days. Which is correct? Pls help, thank you.
563594 tn?1309583132 This list is not complete and there may be other drugs that can interact with methylprednisolone. Tell your doctor about all the prescription and over-the-counter medications you use. This includes vitamins, minerals, herbal products, and drugs prescribed by other doctors. Do not start using a new medication without telling your doctor.
Avatar f tn My Orthopedic Doctor has just ordered an MRI and prescribed methylprednisolone in a 6 day back. I am actually feeling pretty good and not as sore. I'm wondering if once the medication has left my system if I will go back to the severe pain or if this has "solved" the undetectable issue of my arm pain? Anyone have any similar experiences??
635835 tn?1272539383 (9) Adult patients beginning steroid treatment for an MS relapse received either 1250 mg oral prednisone (n=8) or 1000 mg IV methylprednisolone (n=8). Serum levels of prednisolone (the active metabolite of prednisone) and methylprednisolone were measured over the subsequent 48 hours, and AUC values were calculated after adjusting for higher potency of methylprednisolone. Wide confidence intervals were noted with both routes, indicating large interpatient variability.
1192309 tn?1264801232 Prednisone and Prednisolone are classified as corticosteroids, both are known to increase glucose levels. Prednisone is usually given to animals and Prednisolone to humans. Medrol Tablets contain methylprednisolone which is a glucocorticoid. Glucocorticoids cause profound and varied metabolic effects. In addition, they modify the body's immune responses to diverse stimuli. Finally, Prednisolone when taken over a period of time can induce non-reversible diabetes. I can attest to that fact.
Avatar m tn t identified yet. First, I had an iv of steroids and then I took the taper dose of prednisolone. I took 3 days worth and had to quit because it made my anxiety horrible. Now I have tingling in my head all the time and am going to the bathroom alot. I am drinking plenty of liquids because now I have a bladder infection. What are the symptoms of adrenal crisis?
Avatar f tn I received my weekly allergy shots today (8/12/11) and a doctor in the office prescribed me methylprednisolone tablets to clear up poison ivy. I am to start the methylprednisolone tomorrow, but wanted to know if it was ok to take with the allergy shots. The pharmacist I talked to was not very convincing when she said it "should" be alright.

Avatar m tn I took an HIV 1/2 third generation antibody test at a clinic just 12 days after I stopped taking the Prednisolone (corticosteroid) medication, my results for HIV 1 and 2 antibodies came back negative. Taking note that at that time I also still was on my Loratadine medication for another two days. The negative HIV 1/2 third generation antibody test result was taken 30 weeks after possible exposure which was already past the window period of 6 months.
Avatar n tn Prednisolone was for heat rash and my itchy dots. Today I reduce to 10mg a day and tomorrow 10mg and next 5mg and that's it. I've been taking Prednisolone for 3 and half days so far. The main problem at the moment is just the burning face and neck, specially cheeks just under my eyes and under the chin. The burning once goes from one cheek to another or to the neck or everywhere at the same time. Is it normal in such cases? Thank you.
97654 tn?1214348650 For the first few days my pain, tingling, numbless and burning went away. They are now back and more severe than prior to the Solumedrol regime. Is this normal? I actually believe I was on the verge of a flare up prior to starting the Solumedrol and believe I am now in a full blown flare up. I am seeing my Neuro tomorrow and I'm wondering if he will suggest another round of the drug.

Avatar f tn Morphine can cause physical dependence, decreased libido, constipation and addiction. Long term use of Prednisolone can weaken your immune system making you prone for recurrent infections. It can cause osteoporosis, stomach ulcer, cataracts, weight gain; hirsutism etc.A drug is prescribed if the potential benefits outweigh the risks. Discuss your concerns with your attending doctor. I sincerely hope it helps. Best wishes and regards!
