3539331 tn?1347554407 Should I participate in this study even though I am not sure my palpitations have developed in something more serious? I do need the money and I am already on Pravastatin 40mg. I was hoping I would get an appointment with my doctor right away but couldn't. Thanks for reading.
Avatar n tn Two recent trials have compared the clinical outcomes of intensive lipid lowering with atorvastatin 80 mg/day and standard lowering with pravastatin 40 mg/day. In the Pravastatin or Atorvastatin Evaluation and Infection Therapy (PROVE IT) trial, patients with acute coronary artery syndromes were enrolled, and pravastatin lowered the low-density lipoprotein (LDL)-cholesterol to 2.46 mmol/l, whereas atorvastatin lowered it to 1.60 mmol/l.
Avatar f tn Can someone explain what, if any, evidence there for a switch from simvastatin to pravastatin? My husband's doctor said there is new evidence that simvastatin may be detrimental. Unfortunately, my husband did not quiz him further. He already has one stent in a narrow back artery but he has brought his cholesterol down considerably with the statins.
Avatar m tn He was under treatment and was given Pentasa granules , T PAN (40mg), Tab wysolone and Pentasa Anema. As there was no improvement. Doctor adviced to have Exemptia (Adalimumab) injection. 4 injections (40mg 8ml) was given. Next day he was having stomach pain, tight and rigid stomach, and fast breathing. He was immediately admitted in the nearby hospital and doctor found he was suffering from megacolon (toxic colon).
Avatar n tn Wife, 89, has history of atril fib and is prescribed lisinopril (40mg), lasix (40mg) and lanoxin (20mg) along with coumadin (5mg) daily. Recent wide-ranging BP/Pulse readings (160's/80's and pulse below 50) led to adding Toprol XL. First tab last night at bedtime resulted in lowered BP (128/50 and pulse of 41) this AM. Accompanied by inability to urinate (except few drops) for a water drinker.
Avatar n tn I was prescribed Pravastatin 40mg 15 years ago following a minor heart attack. For at least 5 years I was treated for Goat problems even though I was not having the usual swellings associated with the illness. During the past 3 or 4 years started with Cramp like problems both in my feet, ankles and legs which was getting progressively worse. I mentioned it to various GP's without help until about 3 or 4 months ago when finally one doctor asked "Was I on Statins?

Avatar f tn //www.drugs.com/sfx/pravastatin-side-effects.html#consumer_Pravastatin Have you discussed this with your doctor? If you take other drugs and/or supplements check with your pharmacist regarding drug interactions.
Avatar n tn It seems that the main problem was with fenofibrate and pravastatin. The level was pravastatin was greatly increased. But newer info with other statins shows no danger. Atorvastatin serum levels were actually decreased. Jack is very correct that any individual's response can vary a lot from the norm. > Any other natural suggestions on lowering [TG]? I've seen studies that low carb works best, but low Glycemic Index is not that far behind.
Avatar f tn If you are not able to access one, you can as well give the medicine at the rate of 40mg/kg body weight i.e. it comes to around 400mg 8th hourly. You can give 3/4 of the tab once in 8 hours which is a safe dosage. But I still recommend you to go for the house hold remedy, encourage him to drink plenty of warm water, warm salt water gargles. Also you can give pain killers (such as Acetaminophen) if any. See a doctor at the earliest.
Avatar f tn I am a 39 year old, female. I was put on Pravastatin about 9 weeks ago as my cholesterol had gone from 190 to 225 from the previous year. I have a family history of heart disease (my father passed away after a second heart attack at 53). I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism 2 years ago and was placed on Levoxyl (75mg) and my levels have remained normal. I went to have my cholesterol checked after taking the pravastatin for 9 weeks.
Avatar m tn m still trying to get a clarification. Anyway, the cardiologist put me on Amlodopine and Pravastatin. Now, on a daily basis it seems, my heart rate increases and beats at 90-115 bpm (normally in the mid 70s). At the same time, I've started on a vegetarian diet to try to lower my cholesterol. To try to make sure I get enough protein, I am using a protein drink (10-14 gr protein each). I drink 1-2 of these per day.

1982889 tn?1326391842 I'm a 52-year-old female, athletic, though maybe 20 pounds overweight, and my cholesterol medicine was recently doubled to 40mg Pravastatin. This is the only medicine I take. I don't smoke or drink. I eat and sleep well-- maybe a little too well. There is no heart disease on either side of the family. I have pneumonia, and the doctor threw Levaquin at it [Levofloxacin]. The 3rd dose of 10 left me with shortness- of- breath.
Avatar n tn I recently was prescripbed pravastatin and I notice a higher number when I test after a night of fasting in my Blood Glucose. Is there a posibility that could cause the rise.
Avatar m tn Is it safe to take Levothyroxine at the same time as Pravastatin? Also, 2 months ago, I started to take my Levothyroxine at bedtime instead of in the morning as it is more convenient. and after a recent bloodtest my GP has reduced my Thyroxine to 75mcg instead of 100mcg. Could taking it at bedtime be the reason for this reduction? I will obviously ask my GP about this on my next visit to the surgery but would be grateful for any advice.
767538 tn?1276575320 I have been on 30-40mg and have tapered down to 5mg. I tried to stop once before but the W/Ds were just too much. Do you think I'm going to be ok this time seeing as it's been 72 hours since my last dose and I feel I can handle the W/Ds right now? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers. Brian.
