I am a 62 year-old male who has been taking simvastatin for about 30 years. All of my cholesterol-related numbers are in a healthy range, and I have never experienced any serious side effects (e.g., muscle weakness, kidney and liver impairment, etc.). I agree, on the surface it seems a little strange especially in light of the recent study showing at high doses there is a greater risk of side effects. Have you asked your doctor? I would want an explanation as well. He must of had a reason, you need to know what it is. If you have any know artery disease then the current medical protocol is for an LDL under 70, do you have a history?

Is it safe to take Levothyroxine at the same time as Pravastatin? Also, 2 months ago, I started to take my Levothyroxine at bedtime instead of in the morning as it is more convenient. and after a recent bloodtest my GP has reduced my Thyroxine to 75mcg instead of 100mcg. Could taking it at bedtime be the reason for this reduction? I will obviously ask my GP about this on my next visit to the surgery but would be grateful for any advice.
I am now on Pravastatin 10mg. Hope I do not have side effects from this one. I am starting at a low dose, and if I can adjust to it, I can always go up on the mg's in the future.

Dr wants to put on another statin( saying this has less side effects) and extremly expensive...But I would like to try a Non Statin is there is one on the market, or would there be supplements that are available and have good results?

I'm still trying to get a clarification. Anyway, the cardiologist put me on Amlodopine and Pravastatin. Now, on a daily basis it seems, my heart rate increases and beats at 90-115 bpm (normally in the mid 70s).

Unfortunately blood pressure meds often (maybe always) have side effects. I find even moderate levels of beta blocker give me some fatigue and some shortness of breath. I have other factors at play but will not move off your topic to bring them in.
I turn 75 in a short time and that doesn't help my fatigue problem either, I just "ain't" a young go-getter any more.
I just saw this now, hope you are feeling well! My numbers decreased while I was on pravastatin for 2 months, I had bad side effects and took myself iff.....since then I've been off the statins and my levels are even higher than originally. Any news on you?
I recently was prescripbed pravastatin and I notice a higher number when I test after a night of fasting in my Blood Glucose. Is there a posibility that could cause the rise.
