Did they check for impinged nerves? Have you seen a neurologist regarding your chronic headaches? Are they migrainous in nature, muscular or sinus? Did they do a TB test? I recently was prescripbed pravastatin and I notice a higher number when I test after a night of fasting in my Blood Glucose. Is there a posibility that could cause the rise.

59 yo white male. 1 year post MI with two stents in my RCA. I am active and with high a normal BMI of 25 No problem walking a fast mile or with light exercise. My LVEF was 50% right after MI and 45% 2 months later. due for another echo in 2 months. my lipids are under control - LDL < 70 and TC < 140, with or without the 10 mg pravastatin I am prescribed as I eat mostly a quality plant based diet, low in fats and simple carbs..
My question has to do with drugs.
I was taken to the ER, where they ruled out heart attack or stroke. They gave me fluids and Zofran and sent me home.
Last night, watching TV in bed in an air-conditioned room, it happened again. Consequently, I had trouble sleeping and feel shaky this morning and have a pulsating feeling on the top of my skull. What could this be?
I was on 40mg of Pravastatin and now am on 80mg. Is my doc just being aggressive? Or is there another reason for the big increase? I welcome any speculations.

I have been on a good routine with proper diet and regular exercise and I am at the low end of my healthy weight. I have low to normal blood pressure. Anyway, searching for info on this today, I can't find anyone with such low LDL levels but the term "dangerously low" pops up for women with HDL less than 40.
m still trying to get a clarification. Anyway, the cardiologist put me on Amlodopine and Pravastatin. Now, on a daily basis it seems, my heart rate increases and beats at 90-115 bpm (normally in the mid 70s).
At the same time, I've started on a vegetarian diet to try to lower my cholesterol. To try to make sure I get enough protein, I am using a protein drink (10-14 gr protein each). I drink 1-2 of these per day.
It has dropped my LDL to 39-45 range and blood glucose ranges from 105-111 fasting. A1c 5.1 - 5.3. Prior to the statin I was below 100. I am not overweight, exercise consistently and eat very healthy. So the statin is the culprit. I am wondering if being stricter on carb intake and supplementing with Berberine will help? Or has anyone had better outcomes with other statins like livalo or pravastatin?

FOR ME, it did nothing as it did almost nothing for the cholesterol levels, and in fact some test for liver function was bad and I was taken off the medication and switched to another. Hopefully that does not happen with you. Besides the other statin they switched me to the co-pay was several times the expense of the pravatstatin.
There is no gracious way to say this, but the doctors prescribing both Tricor along with any type or brand of STATIN are putting their patients at risk.

My (74 year old) father currently is taking these medications together Pravastatin Sodium 80mg, Zetia 10 mg, Isosorbide Mnonitrate 30 mg, Metoprolol tartrate 50 mg, Plavix 75 mg, Amlodipine Besylate 10 mg, Aspirin (nsaid) 81 mg low dose
The doctor told him his liver count is up 66 and the lower range is 64. Would any of these drugs or combination of these drugs make liver count increase?
I explained over the last 4 months, my fatigue and pain in muscles and joints is worsening, and unbearable. He stated new tests show that statins, especially prevastatin is causing some, and in my case irreversible muscle damage and waste. These side effects we are experiencing are also those of MS patients with lesion 2 expansion in spinal cord vertabrae. I will keep you posted on next Tuesday blood test. But he is good doctor, I trust him, and I see his concern on his face....stop taking it!
I take Pravastatin, and my liver Enzymes GGT are high, but ALT and AST are in normal range, not sure why, I have heard different answers some doctors ar concern and others are not
I'm 55 and have high cholesterol. In early September, I was prescribed a statin for the first time, 40 mg of Pravastatin, to be taken at night. After 2 weeks, I started having muscle pain/weakness in my legs but for the first time in my life had very odd heart palpatations after lying down in bed for about 10 minutes when I was first trying to sleep. I stopped taking the Pravastatin after about 1 month.
I also use to suffer from extreme and constant fatigue and loss of strength. I no longer have the fatigue problem and my strength is back thanks to Testosterone Therapy having boosted my T levels to about 780. Even so I still suffer from the ED. I can achieve about a 3/4 errection but never a fully very hard erection. The one I do achieve require much effort on my part ,if not I will loose the errection as quick as it came.
twice a day, Amlodipine Bensylate 5mg. once a day, Trilipix 135mg. once a day and Ibuprofen 600mg. when needed. Pravastatin Sodium 40mg. once a day and Alprazolam 1mg. twice a day. I have been to my doctor and have told him about it and he just says, its anxiety. Does anyone know what might be causing this ?? I am tired of hearing that it is anxiety ! Please help !!!!!!!!!!!
