The study found that the patients on simvastatin achieved the target LDL level of less than 130, more than those on pravastatin (65 percent on simvastatin versus 35 percent on pravastatin). I would like to try going back to 3 mg coreg for a bit if my echo is good and drop pravastatin all together. and then assess everything after 6 months or so. I understand that some studies show long term benefit for patients like me but these are people on normal diets (much higher in saturated fats and much lower in many nutrients) and who are likely not as active as I am.
I recently was prescripbed pravastatin and I notice a higher number when I test after a night of fasting in my Blood Glucose. Is there a posibility that could cause the rise.
I have been having a constant chest pounding and pain radiating all over my left and right breast area, all tests done proved negative for heart condition but the pain rather than decreasing, seem to be increasing in intensity. After 2 weeks, I started having muscle pain/weakness in my legs but for the first time in my life had very odd heart palpatations after lying down in bed for about 10 minutes when I was first trying to sleep. Chronic headache, neck and shoulder pain, ear aches, very weak and fatiqued. a dry course cough, no phlem, no fever even though I feel aching and stiffness all over,sometimes even my skin hurts. all my labs came back normal except for elevated cholesterol, c-reactive protein sl elevated, and liver panel barely elevated. I was started and pravastatin 4 weeks ago and my symptoms seem worse.
m still trying to get a clarification. Anyway, the cardiologist put me on Amlodopine and Pravastatin. Now, on a daily basis it seems, my heart rate increases and beats at 90-115 bpm (normally in the mid 70s).
At the same time, I've started on a vegetarian diet to try to lower my cholesterol. To try to make sure I get enough protein, I am using a protein drink (10-14 gr protein each). I drink 1-2 of these per day.
It has dropped my LDL to 39-45 range and blood glucose ranges from 105-111 fasting. A1c 5.1 - 5.3. Prior to the statin I was below 100. I am not overweight, exercise consistently and eat very healthy. So the statin is the culprit. I am wondering if being stricter on carb intake and supplementing with Berberine will help? Or has anyone had better outcomes with other statins like livalo or pravastatin?
I then noticed pain in my center right portion of my back. I continued for about a minute and then stopped my workout early. The pain became positional (meaning I could excacerbate or relieve the pain by getting in certain positions). It was like this all day and then the next day everything was fine.
Heart? Or just maybe nerve pinched?
I take metoprolol,pravastatin,nexium,zetia, and one baby aspirin per day.
FOR ME, it did nothing as it did almost nothing for the cholesterol levels, and in fact some test for liver function was bad and I was taken off the medication and switched to another. Hopefully that does not happen with you. Besides the other statin they switched me to the co-pay was several times the expense of the pravatstatin.
I have R upper quadrant pain at times and have had laproscopic surgery by my gyn (endometriosis) and the pain was still there when I woke up from anesthesia, then I had my GB out and pain was still there. It comes and goes and I have weakness in L leg that comes and goes and thyroid swelling that comes and goes. Last week went in for yearly and my liveer enzymes were elevated AST 48 ALT 105 (range 7-60) non-reactive hep panel. I am currently having RUQ pain thru to my back.

My (74 year old) father currently is taking these medications together Pravastatin Sodium 80mg, Zetia 10 mg, Isosorbide Mnonitrate 30 mg, Metoprolol tartrate 50 mg, Plavix 75 mg, Amlodipine Besylate 10 mg, Aspirin (nsaid) 81 mg low dose
The doctor told him his liver count is up 66 and the lower range is 64. Would any of these drugs or combination of these drugs make liver count increase?
