Pravachol muscle pain

Common Questions and Answers about Pravachol muscle pain

pravachol

Avatar n tn does muscle problems from taking the generic pravachol include a burning feeling in the knees which causes pain when walking or bending knees?
Avatar n tn I was on Lipitor, then on Pravachol and lastly on Crestor. None of them had problems loweting the Choesterol levels, but muscle and joint pain even with Vit D and Co Q10 as prescribed my physician. However, I came off crestor yesterday as I started feeling Dizzy. I am normally a "healthy", active energetic person. Now my doc thinks we should try Zetia which is in a different family of drugs. Has anyone experienced difficulties with this? Any thoughts?
Avatar f tn I have tried two different statin durgs, both leaving me with horrible muscle pain. Dr had changed from Lipitor (generic) to Pravastatin 40 mg, but still horrible muscle pain. Dr wants to put on another statin( saying this has less side effects) and extremly expensive...But I would like to try a Non Statin is there is one on the market, or would there be supplements that are available and have good results? Mainly I would like names of non statins to research and discuss.
Avatar n tn Over the past 12 years or so I have taken Lipitor, Pravachol and, when 200mg total Cholesterol wasn't good enough anymore, Vytorin, which brought it down to 160. But, at the end of all that about two years ago I wound up in the ER with severe kidney problems. The doctors said, don't worry about it, just muscle pains and sent me home.
Avatar f tn Possibility of hypothyroidism and diabetes should be ruled out as the presence of either disease can complicate the muscle pain. The role of Co Q10 in lowering cholesterol is controversial and should not be tried without consulting your doctor. Please discuss these points with your treating physician. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar m tn Thanks. Yes, I went to MD because despite being UND 6 months post tx, and normal lft's during tx, most recent post tx lft's were like 1 point above normal (also cholesterol shot up greatly). I feel great by the way. Anyway, he did fibroscan, ordered repeat tests and labs (ANA, IG's, anti-smooth muscle antibody, etc), and a script for Pravachol. Sound right?
Avatar f tn I have numbness of the right outer side of my left hip, this is constant. I also suffer from SI pain and pretty much constant neck tightness. The foot thing is really starting to bother me. I also suffer from Raynaud's, primarily in the cold weather. I've had multiple white spots on my brain MRI, screened for MS and ruled mostly they think migraine related. I do have a cyst on one of my kidney, also ruled as something to watch for now.
Avatar n tn t find the right medicine...Lipitor caused severe muscle weakness, Zetia caused all kind of digestive problems and Pravachol zapped my energy...my count actually went up 30 points while taking WelChol! My doctor is telling me that I have no other choices of medicine to lower my count (total 285, HDL 106 VLDL 21, LDL 188, Triglycerids 106.) My sister is having the same problem so I guess this problem is a family thing. I am really troubled by my doctor's lack of concern.
Avatar n tn never came back), resurgence of the peripheral neuropathy which I first got years ago from a year on Pravachol (statin) all the way up to my knees, worsening of my lung disease (which I discovered started with the Pravachol, stopped when I was off statins, and grew again when I went back on) AND wildly erratic heartbeats and tachycardia (all the way up to 140 beats per minute).
Avatar m tn No other symptoms what so ever. Find it hard to loose weight even I try, take toprol and pravachol, was on Z-pack for strep throat when CT was done. Someone?
1806721 tn?1554333407 Lowering CoQ10 leads to conditions such as nausea, headaches, dizziness, sleep disturbances, sexual dysfunction, fatigue, shortness of breath, memory loss, liver problems, muscle weakness, muscle pain, peripheral neuropathy, cardiomyopathy, congestive heart failure. Recent studies have shown no reductions in death in people over the age of 65 or people with no existing heart disease on statins (regardless of how much their cholesterol was lowered) and no benefit at all in women of any age.
Avatar f tn My psychiatrist has me on Lamictal, Effexor, Neurontin, Wellbutrin, and Nuvigil. From my PCP I take Pravachol and Lisinopril. Is it safe to take all these together? All answers are appreciated.
Avatar n tn My blood preasure has been high since before I found out I was a diabetic. He also has me on pravachol. My cholestrol was high before I was told I was a diabetic. It has read the same since I have been on this drug. Would it be wiser to change either of the drugs or to add plavix? I have been on pravachol for at least 6 years and diabetic only two. Another area I have noticed in your forum, is the effect of caffine on blood sugars.
Avatar n tn My understanding is that the statins with the greatest LDL reducing effect are Crestor, Lipitor, Zocor, and Pravachol, in that order. I don’t mention Leschol and Mevacor since they appear to be rarely used since recently due to the aforementioned being more powerful. Do we have any available solid data on the effects of the various individual statins other than LDL reduction? For example, do we know which ones raise HDL the most? What about effects on particle size or Lp(a), etc.
Avatar n tn I take prevacid for heartburn and pravachol for high cholesterol; also using mupirocin ointment since I had sinus surgery in September.
Avatar m tn Findings consistent with Vascular disease etc. Put on asprin and Pravachol for precaution. Had an Ultrasound of heart on 29/5/08, showed enlarged Aorta and Left ventricule. Never had High blood pressure, taken 120/90. No chest or back pain. No shortness of breath or any other symptons. Of note- Occassionally through childhood, adolescent and adult years when did high cardio exercise found it hard to get a breathe(scary), always ice cold feet.
Avatar m tn You should consult a neurologist and get complete neurological examination done to evaluate the cause of pain..Do you take any medication? Are you hypertensive? The pain could be neurological, may be nerve involvement or facial neuralgia. Unless any examination is done the diasease diagnosis is difficult.
Avatar n tn Hi...I am on numerous meds...heart(tachycardia arrythmia)-ATENOLOL; High Cholesterol-CRESTOR; Hernia-PRAVACHOL; Fibromyalgia & Osteo-Arthrytis-KETOROLAC; water retention-LASIX; Sinus-FLONASE; Dysrythmia-ATIVAN. I have also been on EFFEXOR for 5 years for severe depression. My dosage has been increased twice in the past month--I now take 187.5 mg...I woke up at about 12 midnight last Sunday and I have no recall of the past 4 days; however, I apparently withdrew $7000.
Avatar f tn Over the years the symptoms increased, and I now have severe lower back and neck pain, joint pain (especially knees) and my RLS has become more pronounced. I now have the symptoms beginning much earlier in the day, so have had to increase the use of Sinemet. I now believe the Lipitor may be the cause of my "restless leg syndrome" and also the cause of these other aches and pains that are becoming much worse.
Avatar n tn however, I have high blood pressure (norvasc), osteopena (sp) and high cholesteral (pravachol). I really don't want to take fossamax or any more drugs than necessary, but also do not want a recurrence of breast cancer. Is there a clinical study and shows femara vs placebo rather than femara vs tamoifen (novartis trial)? What is the general recommendation? Can you stop femara if side effects become a quality of life issue? Thank you.
Avatar n tn For the last 3 years, I was managing my idiopathic peripheral neuropathy ( burning and tingling sensation in my feet) with fairly low doses of Lyrica. Not really a problem with exercise and walking. My pain level was at about a 3 on a scale of 10. About 4 weeks ago, I started exercising 6 days per week using elyptical, treadmill and weight machines to lose weight. I lost about 15 pounds but the pain in the soles of my feet increased to about an 8 on a scale of 10.
780647 tn?1304020942 if you have explainable chronic muscle pain you may want to talk to a Dr about fibromyalgia.
Avatar f tn Since MS is a disease of the central nervous system, it does not directly cause muscle pain. MS can cause neuropathic pain, or it can cause spasticity that can cause muscle pain. Ibuprofen is an anti-inflammatory and while it may address the pain due to inflammation, it does nothing for the "cause" and like ALL NSAIDs, it may increase cardiac risks (like the COX-2 inhibitors.) All drugs have side effects.
Avatar f tn I got to tell you honestly - I suffered alot - Kitty here and I had a duscussion about magnesium and I started it for bloating. Not only has it relieved my bloating issues but the joint /muscle pain and anxiety is almost gone. I was not sure if the magnesuim was the reason - I did some quick research and it is the known to resolve these issues. It was almost immediate - with in 3 to 4 days but I no longer need any meds for anxiety right now and I feel I can move again.
Avatar f tn My husband has severe muscle pain on his arms and legs, like muscle spasms, it comes and goes for no reason, he is also always tired and has shortness of breath, he is 42 years old and maintains a healthy weight, what can this be?
