As far as the caffeine and Nutrasweet issue goes, you might want to try a natural sweetener called Stevia. You can get it in health food stores and it is all natural and not made from any chemicals. The only problem I have had with it is that it dissolves better in hot or warm drinks than in cold drinks. If caffeine raises your blood sugar, you might want to try some of the flavored herbal teas.
Hi...I am on numerous meds...heart(tachycardia arrythmia)-ATENOLOL; High Cholesterol-CRESTOR; Hernia-PRAVACHOL; Fibromyalgia & Osteo-Arthrytis-KETOROLAC; water retention-LASIX; Sinus-FLONASE; Dysrythmia-ATIVAN. I have also been on EFFEXOR for 5 years for severe depression. My dosage has been increased twice in the past month--I now take 187.5 mg...I woke up at about 12 midnight last Sunday and I have no recall of the past 4 days; however, I apparently withdrew $7000.
Fat-soluble statins like Lipitor and Zocor cause more damage than water soluble statins like Pravachol and Crestor. Hence the latter should be tried at lower dose. Possibility of hypothyroidism and diabetes should be ruled out as the presence of either disease can complicate the muscle pain. Please discuss these points with your treating physician. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage.

however, I have high blood pressure (norvasc), osteopena (sp) and high cholesteral (pravachol). I really don't want to take fossamax or any more drugs than necessary, but also do not want a recurrence of breast cancer. Is there a clinical study and shows femara vs placebo rather than femara vs tamoifen (novartis trial)? What is the general recommendation? Can you stop femara if side effects become a quality of life issue? Thank you.
Over the past 12 years or so I have taken Lipitor, Pravachol and, when 200mg total Cholesterol wasn't good enough anymore, Vytorin, which brought it down to 160. But, at the end of all that about two years ago I wound up in the ER with severe kidney problems. The doctors said, don't worry about it, just muscle pains and sent me home.
My understanding is that the statins with the greatest LDL reducing effect are Crestor, Lipitor, Zocor, and Pravachol, in that order. I don’t mention Leschol and Mevacor since they appear to be rarely used since recently due to the aforementioned being more powerful. Do we have any available solid data on the effects of the various individual statins other than LDL reduction? For example, do we know which ones raise HDL the most? What about effects on particle size or Lp(a), etc.
Thanks. Yes, I went to MD because despite being UND 6 months post tx, and normal lft's during tx, most recent post tx lft's were like 1 point above normal (also cholesterol shot up greatly). I feel great by the way. Anyway, he did fibroscan, ordered repeat tests and labs (ANA, IG's, anti-smooth muscle antibody, etc), and a script for Pravachol. Sound right?
Findings consistent with Vascular disease etc. Put on asprin and Pravachol for precaution. Had an Ultrasound of heart on 29/5/08, showed enlarged Aorta and Left ventricule. Never had High blood pressure, taken 120/90. No chest or back pain. No shortness of breath or any other symptons.
Of note- Occassionally through childhood, adolescent and adult years when did high cardio exercise found it hard to get a breathe(scary), always ice cold feet.
I am a 44 year old female and I have been having symptoms on and off for 3 years. Some come and go. They all seemed to increase this January and I went to my PCP. These symptoms are fatigue, intermittent bouts of vertigo, intermittent sinus headaches or headaches when I am hungry, frequent dropping things, weight gain, inability to concentrate when really fatigued, intermittent tingling in hand, constipation, and what I describe as no temperature regulation.
I just weaned myself off risperdal and lamictal and I have terrible insomnia. Maybe it's just coincidental because I'm 51 and probably perimenopausal but it is impossible for me to get a good night's sleep without Ambien. It takes 1 1/2 hours to fall asleep and I toss and turn all night. I was diagnosed last summer with bipolar type II and I began to doubt the diagnosis and I realized that my psych had me overmedicated...
This is one of those common sense things...of course it can. And anxiety can cause insomnia as well. It can be a vicious cycle. ANYTHING in our lives that makes us feel less than at our best (or as close to our best, or norm as possible) has to potential to trigger, or exacerbate anxiety in someone who is prone to it. Even people without a history of anxiety will experience fleeting anxiety in those kinds of situations.
Its hopeless because i lay and toss and turn and then i start thinking about things and get anxiety and the cycle repeats. Those are my worst symptoms besides heart burn. I havent even had BH yets. Im so annoyed by it because i just want to sleep. Ive tried essential oils as well as binural beats and they work really well once im already falling asleep. What do you guys do to fall asleep?

I am 30 weeks pregnant with severe insomnia. It started suddenly 3 weeks ago--never had insomnia before. I am 35, and I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's thyroiditis in my early 20s. I have a strong family history of thyroid disease (mother had Graves' disease, several siblings have Hashimoto's or hypothyroidism). After I was diagnosed, I went 10 years without any thyroid tests (no symptoms).
