My heart goes out to all you having problems with the pill. I have a 20 year old, 4 months on the pill, experiencing constant anxiety and depression with anger and bouts of crying over small things. I am helping her find alternatives.
Avatar n tn I have Thallasemia Minor and thought I was just lazy because the Drs. said it has no symptoms. I also had some depression and anxiety attacks. My dad, brother and son have it, too. They don't seem to get as tired as I do, tho. I can relate to that vision thing, too. I wear glasses, but sometimes I just have a hard time seeing clearly.

Avatar m tn Interestingly, cholesterol drops postpartum, and some researchers are wondering if this accounts for most, if not all, postpartum depression. An even larger study conducted by Dutch researchers on 30,000 men found evidence of a link between low cholesterol levels and an increased risk of depression. So the days of thinking the lower the cholesterol, the better are numbered.
Avatar dr m tn But after each of her two pregnancies, her UARS symptoms were greatly exaggerated. After our first son, she had severe postpartum depression for almost a year. Only after she lost her entire pregnancy weight did she feel back to normal. After our second son was born, for four months she was severely lightheaded and dizzy, to the point of not being able to function properly. She saw a number of doctors and even had to go to the Emergency Room because one doctor thought she was having a stroke.
Avatar f tn And I can see it happening again in the future. I feel like a psycho now. When I had postpartum depression and had to be hospitalized for that, the inpatient doctor was awful. He asked me about my mania symptoms, and I just told him that I wrote a lot and did silly things like make five million chocolate colored pretzels, and that I wrote a 100,000 word novel in two months, while on average getting three to four hours of sleep. And he was such a jerk. He told me that didn't mean I was manic.
Avatar n tn •Postpartum depression is depression that occurs soon after having a baby. Some health professionals call it postpartum nonpsychotic depression. ◦This condition occurs in about 10-20% of women, usually within a few months of delivery. ◦Symptoms can include inability to sleep, agitation, and mood swings.

A couple that many people don't know about are anger and irritability. Anger is one of the major coping mechanisms of depression. The mind uses anger to move forward. Anger is outward directed. It can keep us going, but eventually it does us harm by being a poor solution to the depression.

Avatar n tn And mood swings that are worse than when I was dealing with anxiey/depression. I started this therapy for postpartum issues. I just want to feel better. It really upsets me that noone from my doctors office or counselor told me that there would be such a harsh w/d from this drug. I wonder why family practioners are so quick to prescribe antidepressents. I do not think I will ever go back on this kind of medicine again.
Avatar n tn It wasn't until I read this that I remembered the hell that I went through at the end of my prescription and weaning off of Lexapro. At first, it was a godsend, as I was fighting postpartum depression. I, too, experienced cognitive dis-abilities a couple of months after starting the medication. Namely, words would not come out of my mouth as I had intended. They would either come out in reverse order or a completely unrelated word would be substituted. I needed to come off of it.
Avatar f tn It sounds like you're trying to cut your mother off is of some consequence to you, and may be a good part of the reason that you suffer from depression. Life events and changes that may precipitate depressed mood include relationship troubles.

Avatar m tn I found myself beginning to indulge in these activities with her to alleviate my depression symptoms. But I quickly realized that this was only enabling her to continue on. Then about 3 years into our relationship we learned that she was pregnant. During her pregnancy she winged herself off of the meds over the course of a couple of weeks. She stayed sober until labor. She was happy again, confident, and polite. She was working and loved her job.
Avatar f tn All I want to do is cry, and sleep. I'm worried I'll more than likely end up with postpartum depression on top of all of this.
1323357 tn?1274826939 When manifesting as part of another disorder such as anxiety, depression etc, the symptom may never occur again after the person recovers from the primary disorder. People that have experienced DP as a result of a bad drug trip or experience have NOT caused long term damage the mechanism is exactly the same, your brain is protecting itself, hiding away to get the rest it needs whether this be from the fear a bad experience causes or from the long term drain the drug use has on your body.

Avatar n tn From my symptoms the only diagnosis one could come to is that of depression. But depression implies being unhappy. I am not unhappy in any sense of the word. In fact my life is rich and full, one that many people would envy. I went from being literally a street junkie to a doctor(chiropractor). I have just about every material possession anyone could want. I have a beautiful wife and daughter. I get along well with my extended family. I do not hide from people.
Avatar n tn have you had a cardiac work up...some of those symptoms may be related to an arrythmia.........
Avatar f tn Wondering how many of you started having these symptoms postpartum. Women with peripartum cardiomyopathy are treated with an array of medications, but most important seems to be bromocryptine (which blocks prolactin). At the moment, I'm looking into how prolactin levels rise and fall during the menstrual cycle and whether that could be affecting my symptoms. Does this ring a bell with any of you?
Avatar n tn A few weeks ago I started having really acute symptoms of what I believe is depression, so I'm going to go back and maybe start some new medication, probably Wellbutrin. I was just so angry and upset about how hard Zoloft was to get off of, and how nobody tells you about these things, and doctors say "I'm sure that's not what's causing x and y"...anyway, hang in there and good luck.
145992 tn?1341348674 I believe postpartum depression is defined as the depression that can strike a mother in the first YEAR after her child is born so yes, it is possible to have (or have it set in) PPD when baby is 6 months old.
