hysterectomy

Avatar f tn Hi your pain is normal, it is a 6 weeks healing time for a hysterectomy,,,it will get better each and every day .It is very very important to do nOTHING no lifting, not to many stairs, no vaccuming, no bending, twisting, or carrying anything heavier than 3-5 lbs.
Avatar m tn Well yes, lack of female hormones post hysterectomy may be associated with slow/ decreased ossification which may sow the process of fracture healing. However though it may play a role, it is not a major factor if compensated with a healthy diet and a healthy lifestyle. You may like to discuss this in detail with your treating doctor. Hope this information helps. Take care!
Avatar f tn Has anyone experienced burning and sensitivity around the wound site, even though the wound seems to be healing well. Nothing was explained to me on discharge and I am 2 weeks post op and want to know whether this is normal or not. Please help!
Avatar f tn I am 6 days post op for laproscopic total hysterectomy and and have very sharp pain and a feeling of pressure in the rectal area. I do not want to take the vicodan because it causes constipation. I take 800 mg ibuprofen every 8 hours and it helps a little. I don't go back to Dr for a couple more weeks so I was searching for indications of how long this pain will last.
647350 tn?1228618670 What does concern me is twice today I had a watery/bloody discharge. The first time it was bad, but not too bad. The second time I had to change my sanitary pad I noticed that the discharge had been so much that it went right through my panties and soaked the back of my nightgown I had been wearing. Maybe a pantyliner was not enough for the discharge and this is why this happened, but either way it kind of alarmed me. Anyone else have this happen and is there a great need for concern?
Avatar n tn I had a abdominal hysterectomy in April, because of abnormal bleeding everyday for a year and a half. It is now October and i am still having abdominal discomfort is this normal??? I used to sleep on my stomach and now when I find myself on my stomach i wake up in discomfort.
Avatar f tn Hi. I read some ladies are gaining weight post hysterectomy, one told it is due to insufficient levels of 'L????' . The lady then says there is no replacement for 'L????' currently so it doesn't matter what the name is. I think she is referring to Leptin, and the reading I've done indicates there is a replacement. Is there? If not, a newly released diet programme that maximises leptin use is available, and called the Venus factor.
Avatar n tn Also, if ovaries were removed or they fail post-hysterectomy, then the severe loss of ovarian hormones will likely cause a number of symptoms including inability to sleep normally and fatigue amongst others. Please be sure to take it easy during the recommended time frame for optimal healing. It may be helpful to journal symptoms so you can discuss with your doctor.
591421 tn?1219072704 Three weeks ago, I had a partial abdominal hysterectomy. The pain is EXCRUCIATING!!! The pain radiates from the left side of my abdomen to just below my belly button. I try to get out of bed, I'm doubling over in pain and I'm practically fainting from the pain whenever I stand. I've taken pain medication, however, my medicine makes me constipated. I have to take Senokot. My concerns are having to constantly take medication for bowel movement.
Avatar m tn s most likely normal healing. The bloating is most likely just your body adjusting and fluids retained in the healing tissues. be patient your are only at 2 months (8 weeks) that is VERY early in the healing phase...they did ALOT of work in there! if it feels ok and you are ok'd to do exercise at this point...I would suggest gently stretching the area to keep the scar tissue pliable (yoga is how I do this and after 8 abdominal surgeries...
Avatar n tn I had a hysterectomy the 23 October 2007 for pelvic prolapse, I had a vaginal hysterectomy and kept both ovaries and my cervix. Prior to my hyst I was experience chronic pelvic pain (since June 06), Pain on both right and left sides of my pelvic area, a 'throbbing' pain inside my vagina (was told this was due to my uterus bearing down on my cervix), extreme pain with intercourse and many other symptoms. Currently about 90% of the pain has returned.
Avatar f tn I have many many women complain of groin pain post hysterectomy. However I do not feel it is normal. Especially when you use the word severe. If it was mild Id say it could be from the surgery or position on table or even from the catheter. Severe...could be a neurlogical problem a nicked nerve or perhaps a UTI , UTIs are quite common post surgery. Best get checked asap.
Avatar f tn Since I last wrote the pains in my abdomen have gone away. I do still have lower back pain from time to time and it sure isn't from over exerting myself. : ) March 1st is a healing period of 6 weeks. You asked how my appetite was and bloating. I feel my appetite has increased (God Forbid) and I do feel bloated all the time! Does anyone else have increased appetite & bloating? Is this normal? Is anyone doing any type of light exercise while healing?
Avatar f tn You just had surgery 3 weeks ago and your still healing. You may feel fine but your insides need that time to heal. Having an orgasm will make your internal muscles contract, which is not a good thing right now. You only have 3 more weeks to wait. At your checkup your Dr will let you know if you can have sex. As long as there are no problems and you've healed properly your Dr will give you the okay to have sex. Take care.
Avatar n tn I just had a repair in combination with a laparoscopic partial hysterectomy. I am on day 3 post surgery and off all pain meds except the Motrin 800 which is more to reduce swelling. I would not have done repair if my hysterectomy was not medically necessary even though it was bothersome it was not life threatening. Overall not in much pain from the repair.
Avatar f tn 6 weeks. Your body is still healing and Drs recommend 6 weeks for recovery time. No lifting, taking stairs or having sex during that time. Even though you will probably be feeling great long before that you are still healing and have internal stitches that you have to be careful of.
540822 tn?1313086322 Well, I finally received word today that I have been scheduled for the hysterectomy on Thursday. I haven't really been scared since finding out that I have ovarian cancer. I am not sure if it is due to being in denial or if it is due to my faith in Jesus for healing. However, I am feeling a little anxious right now about it all. I keep thinking about all of the changes my body will undergo.
Avatar f tn Removal of any part of the "reproductive" system (which is actually for much more than reproduction) can disrupt hormones and cause an early menopause which may be as severe as surgical menopause. There is a study that says there is about a 40% risk of ovarian failure after hysterectomy. Another study says that the risk of ovarian failure is greater if one ovary is removed at the time of hysterectomy.
Avatar f tn The type of uterine issues you're having would not be due to your thyroid, which explains why they have been as bad or worse since being on Synthroid. Recovery time following a laproscopic hysterectomy is minimal. I had a complete vaginal laproscopic hysterectomy and was back on my feet the following day; if not for an unforeseen blood clot that put pressure on my bladder, which caused other, unrelated issues, I'd have been back to work within a week.
Avatar f tn I have hurt and hurt and I still hurt. I go tomorrow to my ob to discuss further options. At my 2 week post op, he mentioned about the Lupron shot which I do NOT want to take for various reasons. I hurt mainly on my right ovary, but when he did the lap. he said my ovaries looked fine. A hysterectomy is NOT an option for me right now because I am only 26 and do not want to go through "the change" so early. I feel stuck and scared.
