Common Questions and Answers about Post heart operation problems

operation

Avatar n tn I had cataract operation on my right eye a week ago, I had a thorough eye exam before my operation and there is nothing wrong with my retina, nerves etc. The day after the operation, after the doctor removed the bandage, I noticed that I see s curved black shadow on my right vision...gives me a feeling that hair is coveringpart of my eye. The doctor checked and saw a 1 mm fold in the center of the implanted lens. Could this be causing the black side vision?

Avatar n tn Had an ablation done 10 days ago and have had 3 arrhythmias since the operation. Only had them once a month pre operation now 3 in 10 days??? The doc says not to worry, but how can I not....this is worse than pre ablation. Anyone with similar situation..please tell me this doesn't necessarily mean the 8 hour operation didn't take!
Avatar f tn Many individuals following open heart surgery have a memory problem for about 6 months post operation. Open heart surgery puts the individual on heart and lung machine so the fibrosis is probably not an issue during the operation. The main problem with the heart is the valve orifice and that can be corrected without open heart surgery (sometimes). The aorta regurgitation can be the cause of shortness of breath as well as the pulmonary issue. What is the operation expectation.
Avatar m tn Strange though as i thought all these pains were due to my Hiatus hernia and obviously after my operation they are back but much worse so i think if you and i do manage to find the cause of these pains maybe we could post it here so we can help each other and maybe any one else who may be suffering the same post operation problems .. I shall keep you informed as i go along ..
Avatar n tn Whether you need an operation may depend on whether or not you have symptoms Patients who have a small ASD without symptoms or heart rhythm disturbances, may only require periodic monitoring by a cardiologist specializing in adult congenital heart disease. When an ASD is associated with high pulmonary pressures, closing the defect may not be appropriate. Early detection and regular evaluation are very important to avoiding high pulmonary pressures.

Avatar f tn Well his bladder cancer was advanced, I guess that's why they had to remove the whole bladder but it hadn't spread to any other organs. He has a history of heart problems, arthiritis and lung issues. He still has yet to gain strength in his appendages but is still alive...so would it be safe to say that he's in the clear or at least that his odds of survival have increased?? If so by how much? When do you think he will be released from the hospital and able to return home?

Avatar n tn Why have you decided against bypass surgery? blockages of 90,99,90% are severe and he could end up with a lot of dead heart muscle, causing heart failure. If the hernia isn't causing major problems, I would leave it alone. In many cases surgery isn't a long term fix. Just coughing can cause the muscle to re-open and cause the hernia again. I have a small one and the recommendation was to leave it alone.
Avatar f tn Do you have current thyroid blood test results? If so, please post them, so we can see what your levels actually are. Be sure to include reference ranges, since ranges vary lab to lab and must come from your own lab report. Are you currently on a thyroid replacement medication? If so, which one, at what dosage, and how long have you been on it? Even though shortness of breath can be a hypo symptom (or any other possible heart related symptom) should be checked out by your doctor.

3110611 tn?1368485035 Chances are the heart rate of 83 is your own natural heart rate and is not your pacer working; that would kick in when the heart rates are real low. Keep us posted.
1303648 tn?1274504441 Sorry to read of your son's heart rhythm problems. In general SVT does not just go away, and it should be checked and treated. Because it involves the ventricle it is potentially more serious than the various atrial chamber heart rhythm problems. Treatment may be a beta blocker to lower the HR. This is just one possibility. It is critical that the condition be evaluated by a doctor, preferably a heart specialist (Cardiologist in the USA).
Avatar n tn I should add that my father had some kedney problems before and after the operation. However his kidneys are slowly recovering (2 liters of urine/day) though the creatinine is still high. As I said; all the focus now is on the breathing issue. Can this problem lead to suffocation. Thank you.
Avatar m tn My father had TURP operation one and half month back. After 4 days of operation leaking problem occurred. He was saying that he don't have any kind of sense while urine comes out. After that we consulted the same doctor, he was saying that you have to wait for another 6 months for control. I am helpless. Later we have moved another doctor there he said, some nerve(something i don't know which controls the urine) has damaged at the time of operation.
Avatar f tn Any heart bypass, if that's what it is, involves facing one's mortality head on. Most people I know actually became calmer, more accepting of death and appreciative of still being alive, but it can also make someone afraid because you only get a bypass because if you don't you'll die. That's heart, not gastric. I'm assuming heart here. So it's not only the trauma of the surgery, it's facing mortality as well.
Avatar n tn My husband has Lupus since he was a teenager and has been taking the steroid Prednisone for over 40 years. He's in his mid-50's now. He has incredible mood swings and strikes out at family members, but is able to keep a normal, calm exterior toward people at work. Recently he had congestive heart failure that resulted in a triple bypass and a Mitral valve repair. The doctors told him he'd had this valve issue for years and just didn't know it ...
