Yes, it scars your lungs. I've had it 5 times in my life now (first was around 15 yrs old)... and I've had anti-biotic resistant strain before resulting in hospitalization while pregnant with twins. I took 4 days of the Z-pak and the pneumonia got worse. I ended up hospitalized for a week and lost the babies in 2005. I have it again right now. Just make sure you listen to your body. My current doc told me I had Bronchitis.

Ive had pneumonia but not while pregnant. All I can suggest is to just rest and drink tons of water. I hope it goes without saying but call in to work. If you have other kids get help.

about a month and 1/2 before i got pregnant i had severe respitory problems with pneumonia and was hospitalized for a week. so after my discharge at hosp my treatments were breathing machine with 2 medications in it...high doses of steroids(prednisone) for weeks..inhaler and advair. shortly after i went off the steroids i felt great. so i was just using my puff inhaler and advair. then a couple weeks later i find out i am pregnant so i stop the advair (category c ). i know stupid.

I'm 27 weeks and was offered the vaccine for lock jaw whooping cough and diphtheria. I'm not anti vaccine by any means, but I only use medicine and doctors as a last resort. Not in an extreme way. I go to all my appointments, my kids are vaccinated and go to check ups. As an adult I've never had the flu shot and only use medicine when I can't tough it out. That being said, I'm really on the fence about getting a vaccine while pregnant.

and runny nose for over three weeks and im seven months pregnant. I went to the doctor on Thursday and he basically didn't say anything about it. I didnt get the flu while pregnant but with my third pregnancy I did get pneumonia for the first time and yes I did feel like I was dying. I have got over a serious bout of pneumonia about a week ago and also had a marble slab dropped on my big toe a few days ago, and now for the last two days am experiencing waves of nausea every time I drink or eat something. It's not safe to be sick while pregnant. Your temperature should not exceed 102.5 or so for the health of your baby. If your mom or anyone close to you is sick it is highly advised you stay away from them till symptoms subside. My brother in law lives with us and has bad allergies and though they aren't contagious I enforce him taking his meds like crazy! You should definitely go to a doctor to be safe. Better safe than sorry.

re asking, but my doctor had me get a flu shot and a pneumonia shot when I started treating (since the interferon could degrade my ability to fight infection). Also, I was in the hospital and they tried to give me a pneumonia shot every time I was there and they knew I had hcv and was treating. I am now 31 weeks pregnant and this morning, I was exposed to a person who has pneumonia. I went to her one-bedroom apartment and stayed at her bedroom for about half an hour. I came back to my office and did research, which tells me that if the person did not cough, it's probably okay. The use of prednisone while you have an infection is controversial. I know they use it. The problem is that the prednisone sometimes makes the infections go out of control. Make sure you take vitamin D3. Use an expectorant and observe the color of the sputem. As long as it is yellowish you have an infection. Make a daily log of the color. Many physicians never ask to see the sputem. I have an issue with that. Be carefull with use of blood pressure medications.

Do not know if i was given antibiotics for bacterial pneumonia or antivirals for viral pneumonia and respiratory syncytial virus, from what i've read those could include ribavirin, tamiflu, relenza, iv antibiotics, amantadine etc. Took an elisa after 6 months of my possible exposure and it came back negative. 1) Does testing under any type of pneumonia viral/bacterial or RSV can give me a false negative?

It sounds like it. My doctor asked, I have never gotten one so am not going to start now, but I have also never gotten the flu (the real flu). She did say it can be life threatening to the baby if I got it, then said but it can be life threatening to you too.
