Avatar n tn They wanted to keep me but I have 4 kids at home to care for so they sent me home with a steroid, inhaler and cough meds and told me to finish the z-pak. I finished the z-pak about a week ago and still don't feel better.
620048 tn?1358018235 I had pneumonia when I was a very young mother. I was so sick I missed a week of my life in the hospital. I don't remember my sister that flew in from Atlanta to be with me or crying when she left me. I don't remember my husband or sons being there. The fever was so high! I only remember the horrible headache! It was Thanksgiving time. When I left the hospital (after a full week) the doctor told me I wasn't to leave the house for any reason...
Avatar m tn The question is whether I should continue the interferon treatment when I am fighting the pneumonia. Your kind advice is very much appreciated. Many thanks. I myself has also had bronchiectasis (at lingular) though the pneumonia this time is at right lobe.
Avatar n tn If you have a virus that resulted in pneumonia, while allopathic medicine has little in the way of anti-virals, there are plants that have anti-viral properties. Olive leaf and elderberry are two examples. Herb Pharm makes a tincture that helps with virus control. That being said, though, and assuming this is viral in nature, once you have pneumonia you have progressed significantly through the viral process already and the more important thing is clearing the lungs.

1658980 tn?1330711550 Congratulations! If it's any consolation, when I was into about week 5 of treatment, I too ended up at the doctor's office and had a chest xray to check for pneumonia and then also had a stress test done. The stuff I was going through turned out to be sx rather than other issues. At 5 weeks post tx I still have chest stuff going on but other sx subsided. Good luck and know that you are on the right track.

Avatar n tn Husband had headache with 103 fever off and on (mostly on) for more than a week. Finally, on the third time to the ER, they admitted him, diagnosing with pneumonia. He's been at the hospital for a week now, and although fever and headache gone, after CT scan and a couple other procedures, they just told him that his pneumonia hasn't gone away. The doctor said he's going to try different treatment, and tomorrow get a lung biopsy.
250701 tn?1320974765 Sorry haven't been around, I have been sick for two weeks now. Went to the Dr. they gave me antibiotics, but they failed to take an xray. Come to find out Monday they took an xray and I have pneumonia. I have been home all week. Now I get to take my shot tonight and I hope it don't wipe out my immune system to bad. Dr. had to put my ribo back down to 400 until I get well. Well I'll let you know what happens tomorrow.
Avatar f tn thanks for answering my post, i understand what your saying but i just have to wonder if the pneumonia had anything to do with it. and why did 3 different hospitals send him home if he was sick? i guess i've just never gotten over it, he was so young. he did'nt get to walk me or my sister down the isle or know his grandchildren.i take it that you've had heart problems, how are you doing? again, thanks for posting to me.
Avatar n tn Perhaps your oxygen levels are lower than your norm...do you have a pulse oximeter at home to check? That could also explain how you feel. I can't think of anything else to add...I hope that this helps.

Avatar n tn Hi bibban12, The thing about pneumonia is it's just a broad term for lung inflammation, and the air sacs filling up with fluid, but it isn't a specific diagnosis of what caused the pneumonia.

Avatar n tn Buddy was diagnosed with pneumonia and has gone through a course of doggy antibiotics and 3 courses of human antibiotics. The right lung is full of fluid. He would get better, then be energetic and get worse. It was suggested that he may not have pneumonia but CHF. Is there anything to do to help him. The vet doesn't seem to have any suggestions. Would a diuretic help? He's starting to not eat now.
Avatar n tn His doctor gives him motrin for during work hours and a muscle relaxer for at home but it knocks him out (puts him to sleep) now he is getting depressed due to the severe pain at work and either pain or sleeping at home. I should mention it has almost been 1 year since he was admitted to the hospital originally he is looking for something that will stop or dampen the pain without knocking him out so that he can get back to a somewhat normal life. Any suggestions?

Avatar n tn Bacterial or viral lung infection can precipitate asthma with wheezing in a person genetically predisposed to asthma. Treatment of the presumed asthma, aside from treatment of the infectious pneumonia, is appropriate. So, this could be asthma, superimposed on pneumonia. Your son could have whooping cough, despite immunization against it. If his fever and sweating with clammy skin has subsided, it is probably a sign that the antibiotic therapy has been effective and the pneumonia is clearing.

Once the 12 days were over he once again started with the high fever and his cough never left. His doctor did x-rays once again and put him back on Cefdinir for 10 days. He ended up going back to Children's E.R. where they said he had decreased air movement in his lower left lobe and put him on Amox-Clav ES for 14 days. He is still running fever with a wet cough.
Avatar m tn He too has been without insurance at times and has had to find alternative treatment. I am providing the link but I will also suggest that your post be moved to that forum. http://www.medhelp.org/forums/Crohns-Disease---Ulcerative-Colitis/show/178 I might suggest that you check with your state to see if what programs or benefits are available to you. In our state (WI) there is now some state insurance available to those that qualify and other benefits.
