Avatar n tn its pneumonia, and you can have no other symptoms. I didnt have any other symptoms. Im on antibiotics but in a lot of pain. Ibuprofin works though. This discussion is related to Sharp Upper Back pain.
Avatar f tn Thank you for responding! I know back pain comes with the territory, but this just seemed strange. The reason I worry about pneumonia is because the pain around my ribs (backside) increases when I breathe. Especially when I exhale. I thought about doing stretches and yoga as well. Taking a Tylenol and hoping I can cope. Just needed reassurance it didnt sound like a bigger issue. Thanks again.
Avatar f tn I am concerned for you that you either may have bronchitis or even pneumonia. I know back pain is a very common symptom of pneumonia. But if you're coughing a lot it is possible it's just your muscles that are sore. What I would do if I were you is look up the symptoms of pneumonia. Then at least you know what to watch for....hope you get better soon!!
Avatar f tn Also, shortness of breath. Did you have any of these symptoms when they found that you had pneumonia on the CT? Obviously if you have a fever see your doctor. Or see him if you feel that it could be pneumonia. Other things you could try if you don't have a fever and you think it is a virus, is to steam yourself in the shower and/or with a bowl of hot water and breath in the steam to make yourself cough and break up any tightness in the lungs.

Avatar f tn Two years ago I returned to my primary care physician with chronic low back pain. She referred me to physical therapy. I completed pt. He suggested it was my lack of flexibility. Next, the primary had an X-ray (normal results). After she referred me to a pain management doctor. I also went to another physical therapist who thought the concern was my lack of small stomach muscle control from multiple pregnancies and surgeries of the abdominal area. MRIs of the lower back we're good.
Avatar n tn Eight days ago I was diagnosed with pneumonia and given medication that made me very ill. I was told that it would take a few days for the meds to do thier job. On the sixth day, I was in real bad shape. I had sharp shooting pains in my back, right side under my ribs, muscle spasms, and shooting pains in my right shoulder. I could not walk, lay down, or sit with out pain .
Avatar f tn I've been using a cpap machine for over a year but recently I've been waking with severe lung ache !! its almost like I'm winded i can hardly move with the pain I'm worried this might b a side affect to the pressure on my machine being to high ...
Avatar f tn I went to our local urgent care center this past Friday because of strange chest pain and upper back pain that “just didn’t feel normal”. I’ve been diagnosed with lobar pneumonia and was put on antibiotics. It’s been two days (5 doses of antibiotics, so far) and nothing has changed! There is still no congestion, no coughing (I’ve even had 5 doses of Musinex)...just fatigue and shortness of breath. The pain is on and off....I feel crazy!!! HELP?!? (No, I’ve not been sick...
Avatar n tn html Going by your symptoms, it seems to be pain due to gastritis or angina.Pls consult a physician at the earliest.ECG is to be done to rule out angina or MI or other cardiac causes. Take care and do keep us posted on how you are doing.
Avatar m tn 9 year old daughter was diagnosed with pneumonia last night. Now she is complaining that she is having lower back pain. Is this kidney infection?
Avatar m tn You have good reasons to be concerned about your sister and her multiple health problems. Pain associated with her pneumonia should have eased as her pneumonia resolved. Pain at this time is not normal. The recurrence of cough and pain along with the abnormal X-ray findings of “scarring” and “a hole” in her lung suggest otherwise; that is to say that hers is what we would call complicated pneumonia. You ask, if she needs to be admitted to a hospital.
1363339 tn?1338771053 Is it after every asthma attack? Or mainly after the ones that come with colds and flus? If the rib pain is after cold/flu attack then it is possible you are getting infections that are travelling to the pluerisy (might be spelt wrong) which is causing the pain. I get pain that seems to wrap around my chest and feels like someone is squeezing me - however I don't have true asthma just very similar symptoms from acid reflux.
Avatar m tn Have you been sick lately? Because you could have a pneumonia in your right lung. I know that when I have pneumonia that's the only time I can feel any pain with it. An xray can show what's going on, if not your doc might order a CT scan.At any rate, don't wait, go get your answers as soon as you can as waiting can be dangerous. Take care.
Avatar f tn It sounds like a severe case of bronchitis that you got from getting the pneumonia, obviously just an observation though. Go back to your primary doctor and tell them your symptoms haven't changed, you may need different antibiotics. I had acute bronchitis with a nasty cough for about 5 months and I went to the doctor twice for it and the second time they gave me different antibiotics and it helped. Good luck, hope you feel better!
Avatar n tn iam just geting over pneumonia and i have started getting joint pain.
Avatar f tn Was on a 3-day course of Bactrim for a UTI with all my usual symptoms (burning, pressure, nausea, fatigue, malaise). I took my last dose on Saturday night. Though I thought I had a return of urinary symptoms (burning) on Sunday night, by Monday everything had resolved. Today I started getting a sore back though it is unclear to me whether it is muscular. It is almost reminiscent of the onset of a case of pneumonia I had 5 years ago.
Avatar m tn About 6 weeks ago I started to get pain in my back. The pain is located under my left scapula (shoulder blade??). It kind of feels like a pinched never type pain. Soon after pain, I started to feel tightness in my chest. It is difficult to explain the tightness. It is not tightness caused by congestion. If feels like my chest is heavy or the muscles are laboring more to suck air into my lungs. Today the pain in the back feels more like a burning sensation.
242516 tn?1368223905 The flu has passed epidemic rates in much of the country, and if you don't have a cold, I'm sure you have a friend who has the sniffles, fever, chills, aches and pains of a viral upper respiratory infection. This is different from a bacterial infection such as sinusitis, bronchitis, or pneumonia. A viral infection doesn't improve with antibiotics as these infections do. A virus hijacks your own body's healthy cells and uses it to reproduce and spread.
Avatar m tn If the pain is due to pleurisy, which is inflammation of the lining of the chest cavity, then this pain can vary with posture and with coughing. As the infection and inflammation resolve, the pain should resolve. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn 3 weeks on doxicycline and a week on azithromyacin and I still have a fever and infection (Was diagnosed with A-typical pneumonia). I also have a lymphnode that is much larger and more prominent than any others and has been for a few months but does not hurt. I had my blood counts checked and my WBC is high (14.0) even after all of the antibiotics. My TSH level has also gone up to 38.6 again creating massive exhaustion.
994239 tn?1321203620 Hello, Cough and/or coughing up phlegm are symptoms you may not necessarily have. The definitive diagnosis of pneumonia is based on chest xray with combination of symptoms. So, your situation is possible. I remember I had pneumonia as a child with the only symptom of vomiting. My mother took me to the hospital and a diagnosis of pneumonia was made based on my chest xray.
