Avatar f tn m making an educated guess based on the fact that they give pregnant women flu shots because they can pass on some of that to their babies before their born to help them fight off any germs they may encounter when they're first born. I was given the flu shot in November of last year b/c my son was going to be born smack dab in the middle of flu season (January). So, he may have had enough of my immunities passed on that he didn't get sick.
Avatar m tn NO. YEARS.. if not on medications. If on medications, never.
Avatar f tn Yes I did tell them. The pneumonia symptoms are starting to clear up I don't have a fever, never had a cough, starting to breathe better, and I have a lot more energy but still a bit light headed and throat is kind of sore and my voice hasn't return fully. I have been tested will get the results tomorrow.
Avatar n tn Around 9/27 I had the start of bronchitis & was taking some mucinex with a leftover antibiotic. Each day I thought I'd wake up feeling better. Unfortunately each day seemed a lil worse. After a week of suffering I went to urgent care. Apparently just by listening to my lungs, I was diagnosed with pneumonia. I was put on Albuterol in the nebulizer & Biaxin (antibiotic) & they said continue the mucinex.
Avatar f tn Called my primary care doctor and he wants to see me tomorrow to see if I have pneumonia. I have asthma, and am prone to pneumonia. I had pneumonia in my first trimester with my first pregnancy, and lost the baby at the end of my 12th week. I'm kind of freaking out. Now that I'm in my 3rd trimester, I'm worried about preterm labor now (a lot of websites say it can happen with pneumonia). Any words of encouragement?
Avatar m tn Several courses of antibiotics later and X rays, the pneumonia has gone but left some marks on the lung; scarring according to the doctors. Despite being able to cycle and run ok, I am still not feeling right and still have catargh on my lungs which is fighting to stay put. The worst is just not feeling that my head is connected, almost like I continually have had a glass of wine! Anyone else felt like this after pneumonia? I am an asthmatic although controlled perfectly by ventolin etc.
Avatar f tn I had my first at 34+5, he was in special care for 3wks with feeding issues but it was only because he was so small, we think he had IUGR due to a true knot in the cord! Like comments above, most babies at this gestation are healthy and don't require a lengthy stay in hospital. Don't worry I'm sure everything will be fine.
Avatar f tn In January I thought I was getting a cold and for three days took Zycam. The cold symptoms went away except for the cough. I later was diagnosed with bronchitis and after a couple of weeks and chest xray was told I had pneumonia. I had a CT Scan last year which showed a lesion. I was told it was scar tissue. During the last several months I have had 4 chest xrays and 2 more CT Scans showing new spots on my right lung.
Avatar m tn Nurse girl is absolutely right, no risk, you do not need to test. As an aside ars symptoms would not go on for 4 weeks.
Avatar f tn If the fever develops after office hours or on a weekend, go to the emergency room. Young babies have a limited ability to fight illness because their immune system isn't fully developed. Young babies can’t tell you if they are really sick and there are some serious bacterial infections that they are more prone to, like kidney infections, blood stream, and pneumonia.
Avatar f tn One might suspect that you have underlying asthma and that when you get a viral infection each year, it triggers pneumonia –like symptoms. I would suggest getting a pulmonary function test while you are sick to see if this is, indeed, asthma. If this is not the case, another possible reason is that the local immune system in your lungs is not protecting you from the infection. This is usually an antibody problem and can be checked with a blood test.
5601163 tn?1370701672 I recently underwent a two week course of Levaquin for pneumonia. On the follow-up visit with my doctor, a chest x-ray showed "right basilar opacity," which caused my doctor to order a CT scan. What does this mean?
Avatar m tn cough, fever, chills, shortness of breath and sharp or stabbing pain. You need to drink plenty of fluids, Rest, and keep any fever you may have under control. It's also possible that you have pulled a muscle from coughing. If this is the case then it should heal within a week or so after the coughing stops. Probably not what you want to hear but you still need medical treatment.
Avatar m tn Do you have any symptoms of pneumonia such as fever, cough, chills , pain in the chest. If so it could be bronchitis or pneumonia. Or a variety of other things. Xrays are somewhat non specific. How do you feel besides having scanxiety? I always get that from Xrays and MRI's etc. try to take it easy.
Avatar f tn I have a bag of mixed blessings, I return to the dr on friday with my husband, but right now I have severe mycoplasma pneumonia with a titer of 790, the doctor who has practiced medicine for years has told me that he has never seen a blood titer over two hundred. I was prescribed erythromyacin, and hopefully this will work to fix the problem. If not, I dont know what to do.
Avatar m tn You are very confident in those test. Swollen lymph nodes, rashes, aphthous ulcer, rasping breath sounds and a very dry irritating cough, tiredness etc. doesn't look like suspicious to you. OK, I don't expect that you will say "Ooh you have those symptoms, you are positive." No! Actually I was only asked a question about PCP pneumonia. Can someone have PCP pneumonia for 3 months without temperature?
405370 tn?1332206110 I never heard of a yeast infection on your neck, but she had it. Pneumonia scares me! She did start coughing on Sat. but we thought it was because my husband gave her his cold. I'll watch her. Thanks for the info!
Avatar f tn But, GBS can be passed from a mother to baby during delivery and cause serious illnesses like pneumonia, sepsis, and meningitis. Only a small number of babies born to mothers colonized with GBS will become sick, however. If You are considered high risk for transmission your doctor will likely treat you with IV antibiotics during delivery - or possibly regardless of risk level. If baby developes signs of illness, they can do the same for him/her.

Avatar f tn i have been showing signs of pneumonia lately and also felt a small bum under my armpit but cannot see anything. what i want to know is can the axillary lymph node be linked to pneumonia because usually i hear it swells in the neck? i also was using doxycycline 100 mg and septra for chlamydia. its kinda strange how pneumonia just popped up a while after my chlamydia and cleared up. i am really freaking out im going for a test today.
Avatar n tn hi mav, from the immense amount of reading i have done on the web, diarrhea is one of the symptoms but i have also read that the hiv symptoms do not occur in singles, so u'd have a lot of other symptoms also together, but i 'd let one of the doctors confirm it for you.
Avatar f tn I would have the flu vaccine and within a week, flu symptoms which then went to my chest and then Pneumonia,,,the final year I had the pneumovax vaccine and ended up in hospital. That was the last time I ever got a flu vaccine or pneumonia vaccine. In regards to the shingles vaccine.....you are being injected with the herpes simplex virus so obviously the Graves antibodies are going to react against it but it is your personal preference whether to have it or not.
476834 tn?1228398709 ok, so then I came down with Pneumonia, I was really sick this happened in August then again in February I got Pneumonia, it really got me down, it took a shot of Rocephin, (antibiotic) a z-pak (antibiotic) then finally a full 10 day of Levaquin,, finally Pneumonia gone,, but ever since I get flu like symptoms,, Like really bad aching in my joints/low grade fevers/ I obviously don't have the flu but I was wondering if anyone with MS has flu like symptoms?
Avatar f tn You could have develeped bronchitis or pneumonia at this point since your immune system is weak during pregnancy, I got walking pneumonia my second trimester just by going for a short walk on a nice day when I was getting over a cold : (. But definately drink lots of orange juice and an extra dose of vitaman c to help beat whatever you have.
242516 tn?1368223905 The flu has passed epidemic rates in much of the country, and if you don't have a cold, I'm sure you have a friend who has the sniffles, fever, chills, aches and pains of a viral upper respiratory infection. This is different from a bacterial infection such as sinusitis, bronchitis, or pneumonia. A viral infection doesn't improve with antibiotics as these infections do. A virus hijacks your own body's healthy cells and uses it to reproduce and spread.
